ahmad-zuhd:1755ʿAbdullāh from my father > ʿUbaydullāh b. Muḥammad > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Ḥumayd > Bakr b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] Verily, Allah causes His servant to taste bitterness for what He desires of goodness in His consequences. Bakr said: Have you not seen a woman who endures childbirth or menstruation for the sake of attaining her health?  

الزهد لأحمد:١٧٥٥حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُجَرِّعُ عَبْدَهُ الْمَرَارَةَ لِمَا يُرِيدُهُ بِهِ مِنْ صَلَاحِ عَاقِبَتِهِ قَالَ بَكْرٌ أَمَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَرْأَةَ تُوجِرُ وَلَدَهَا الصَّبْرَ أَوْ قَالَ الْحَضَضَ تُرِيدُ بِهِ عَافِيَتَهُ
