[Machine] "I have not found a likeness for the believer except for a man in the sea clinging onto a piece of wood, calling out, 'O Lord, O Lord, perhaps He may save him.'"  

«مَا وَجَدْتُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ مَثَلًا إِلَّا رَجُلًا فِي الْبَحْرِ عَلَى خَشَبَةٍ فَهُوَ يَدْعُو يَا رَبُّ يَا رَبُّ لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ»  

[Machine] "I did not speak out of anger and regretted it in satisfaction."  

«مَا تَكَلَّمْتُ بِشَيْءٍ فِي الْغَضَبِ فَنَدِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فِي الرِّضَا»  

[Machine] "Mourriq al-Ijli said, 'There is a matter that I have been seeking for twenty years, but I have not been able to achieve it, and I will never give up seeking it.' They asked him, 'What is it, O Abu al-Mu'tamir?' He replied, 'Silence regarding what does not concern me.'"  

قَالَ مُوَرِّقٌ الْعِجْلِيُّ أَمْرٌ أَنَا فِي طَلَبِهِ مُنْذُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً فَلَمْ أَقْدِرْ عَلَيْهِ وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكٍ طَلَبَهُ أَبَدًا قَالُوا وَمَا هُوَ يَا أَبَا الْمُعْتَمِرِ؟ قَالَ «الصَّمْتُ عَمَّا لَا يَعْنِينِي»  

[Machine] The one who holds on to the obedience of Allah when people turn away from it is like a shining star after the sunset.  

الْمُتَمَسِّكُ بِطَاعَةِ اللَّهِ إِذَا جُنِّبَ النَّاسُ عَنْهَا كَالْكَارِّ بَعْدَ الْفَارِّ  

[Machine] Abu Al-Hawra' used to continue fasting for seven days then grab the young man's arm and almost break it.  

كَانَ أَبُو الْحَوْرَاءِ يُوَاصِلُ فِي الصَّوْمِ بَيْنَ سَبْعَةٍ ثُمَّ يَقْبِضُ عَلَى ذِرَاعِ الشَّابِّ فَيَكَادُ يُحَطِّمُهَا  

[Machine] And I asked him, so I said, "How are you, O Abu al-Mu'tamir? How are your family and children?" He said, "They are all present." I said to him, "Then praise your Lord." He said, "By Allah, I feared that they would keep me in destruction."  

وَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ يَا أَبَا الْمُعْتَمِرِ كَيْفَ أَهْلُكَ وَوَلَدُكَ؟ قَالَ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُتَوَافِرُونَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ فَاحْمَدْ رَبَّكَ قَالَ «وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنَّهُمْ يَحْبِسُونِي عَلَى هَلَكَةٍ»
