The night which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed with me was the one that followed the day of sacrifice. He came to me and Wahb ibn Zam'ah also visited me. A man belonging to the lineage of AbuUmayyah accompanied him. Both of them were wearing shirts. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Wahb: Did you perform the obligatory circumambulation (Tawaf az-Ziyarah), AbuAbdullah? He said: No, by Allah Messenger of Allah. He (the Prophet) said: Take off your shirt. He then took it off over his head, and his companion too took his shirt off over his head. He then asked: And why (this), Messenger of Allah? He replied: On this day you have been allowed to take off ihram when you have thrown the stones at the jamrahs, that is, everything prohibited during the state of ihram is lawful except intercourse with a woman. If the evening comes before you go round this House (the Ka'bah) you will remain in the sacred state (i.e. ihram), just like the state in which you were before you threw stones at the jamrahs, until you perform the circumambulation of it (i.e. the Ka'bah). عَنْهَا قَالَتْ كَانَتْ لَيْلَتِي الَّتِي يَصِيرُ إِلَيَّ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَسَاءَ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ قَالَتْ فَصَارَ إِلَيَّ قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ مُتَقَمِّصَيْنِ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِوَهْبٍ هَلْ أَفَضْتَ بَعْدُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ انْزِعْ عَنْكَ الْقَمِيصَ قَالَ فَنَزَعَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ وَنَزَعَ صَاحِبُهُ قَمِيصَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ قَالُوا وَلِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ رُخِّصَ لَكُمْ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ رَمَيْتُمُ الْجَمْرَةَ أَنْ تَحِلُّوا يَعْنِي مِنْ كُلِّمَا حُرِمْتُمْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا مِنَ النِّسَاءِ فَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطُوفُوا بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ عُدْتُمْ حُرُمًا كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَرْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ حَتَّى تَطُوفُوا بِهِ

وَعَنْ أُمِّهِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ يُحَدِّثَانِهِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ يُحَدِّثَانِهِ بِذَلِكَ جَمِيعًا عَنْهَا قَالَتْ كَانَتْ لَيْلَتِي الَّتِي يَصِيرُ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ مُتَقَمِّصَيْنِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِوَهْبٍ «هَلْ أَفَضْتَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ «انْزِعْ عَنْكَ الْقَمِيصَ» قَالَ فَنَزَعَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ وَنَزَعَ صَاحِبُهُ قَمِيصَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ قَالُوا وَلِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا قَدْ رَخَّصَ لَكُمْ إِذَا رَمَيْتُمُ الْجَمْرَةَ أَنْ تَحِلُّوا مِنْ كُلِّ مَا حُرِمْتُمْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا النِّسَاءَ فَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطُوفُوا بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ صِرْتُمْ حُرُمًا كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَرْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ حَتَّى تَطُوفُوا» قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ وَحَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ قَيْسٍ  

[Machine] It was the night when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me on the evening of the Day of Sacrifice. So he came to me and Wahb bin Zam'ah entered with him, along with another man from the family of Abu Umamah, both wearing robes. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Have you already put on Ihram, O Abu Abdullah?" He replied, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah." So he said, "Take off your robes." He then took off his robe from his head and the other man took off his robe from his head. Then he asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "This day is for you to be lenient, when you stone the Jamrah, to remove everything that you were prohibited from, except women. And if you touch them before performing the Tawaf around this House, you will become forbidden, just as you were forbidden before stoning the Jamrah."  

كَانَتْ لَيْلَتِي الَّتِي يَصِيرُ إِلَيَّ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَسَاءَ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ فَصَارَ إِلَيَّ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ آخِرُ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ مُتَقَمِّصَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَهَلْ أَفَضْتَ بَعْدُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ؟» فَقَالَ لَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «انْزِعْ عَنْكَ الْقَمِيصَ» قَالَ فَنَزَعَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ وَنَزَعَ صَاحِبُهُ قَمِيصَهُ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ رُخِّصَ لَكُمْ إِذَا رَمَيْتُمُ الْجَمْرَةَ أَنْ تُحِلُّوا مِنْ كُلِّ مَا حُرِّمْتُمْ عَنْهُ إِلَّا مِنَ النِّسَاءِ فَإِذَا مَسَسْتُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطُوفُوا بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ صِرْتُمْ حَرَامًا كَهَيْأَتِكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَرْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ»  

[Machine] When it was the evening of the Day of Sacrifice, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw Wahb ibn Zam'a and a man from the tribe of Abu Umayyah, both wearing ihram. The Prophet ﷺ asked Wahb, "Have you made it lawful, O Abu Abdullah?" He replied, "No." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then take off your clothes." Wahb asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "This is a day for you to be at ease, when you throw the stones at al-Aqaba, so that you may be relieved of all the prohibitions of the Hajj, except for women. If one of you reaches the evening without having performed the Tawaf, he should remain in the state of ihram until he performs it."  

لَمَّا كَانَ مَسَاءُ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ رَأَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهْبَ بْنَ زَمْعَةَ وَرَجُلًا مِنْ آلِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ وَهُمَا مُتَقَمِّصَانِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِوَهْبٍ «أَفَضْتَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «انْزِعْ قَمِيصَكَ» قَالَ وَهْبٌ لِمَ ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ أُرَخِّصُ لَكُمْ فِيهِ إِذَا رَمَيْتُمْ جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ أَنْ تُحِلُّوا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ شَأْنِ الْحَجِّ إِلَّا النِّسَاءَ فَإِذَا أَمْسَى أَحَدُكُمْ وَلَمْ يُفِضْ كَانَ كَهَيْأَتِهِ حَرَامًا حَتَّى يُفِيضَ»  

[Machine] The night in which the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , made his way to Mina on the evening of the Day of Sacrifice, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was in my company. Wahb bin Zam'ah and a man from the Banu Abi Umayyah, who both had their heads shaved, entered. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to them, "Have you already shaved?" They replied, "No." He then said, "Take off your clothes." So they took them off. Wahb then asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "This is a day in which I am preparing you. Once you throw the pebbles at the Jamrat and perform the sacrifice, everything that was prohibited for you becomes permissible, except for women, until you perform Tawaf around the Ka'bah. Once it is evening and you have not performed Sa'y (between Safa and Marwah), you will return to the state of prohibition as you were before, until you perform Tawaf around the Ka'bah."  

كَانَتِ اللَّيْلَةُ الَّتِي يَدُورُ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَسَاءَ لَيْلَةِ النَّحْرِ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدِي فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ مُتَقَمِّصَيْنِ فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَفَضْتُمَا؟ قَالَا لَا قَالَ فَانْزِعَا قَمِيصَكُمَا فَنَزَعَاهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ وَهْبٌ وَلِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ أُرَخِّصُ لَكُمْ فِيهِ إِذَا رَمَيْتُمُ الْجَمْرَةَ وَنَحَرْتُمْ هَدْيًا إِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فَقَدْ حَلَلْتُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حُرِمْتُمْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا النِّسَاءَ حَتَّى تَطُوفُوا بِالْبَيْتِ فَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُمْ وَلَمْ تُفِيضُوا صِرْتُمْ حُرُمًا كَمَا كُنْتُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ حَتَّى تَطُوفُوا بِالْبَيْتِ  

[Machine] It was the night on which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to come to me, meaning the evening of the day of sacrifice. So he came to me and Wahb bin Zam'ah entered with him, accompanied by a man from the family of Abu Umayyah, wearing a garment. The Prophet ﷺ said to Wahb, "Have you shaved your head, O Abu Abdullah?" He replied, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then take off your garment." So he took it off his head and the companion of Wahb also took off his garment from his head. They asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "This is a day that has been made lawful for you. When you stone the Jamrah, you are permitted to do everything that was forbidden to you, except for women. But if you happen to start the night before you circumambulate the Ka'bah, you will become unlawful like you were before stoning the Jamrah, until you complete the circumambulation." Abu 'Ubaidah said, "Umm Qais bint Muhsin told me. She was their neighbor. She said, 'Ukkashah bin Muhsin came out from my house, accompanied by some people from the tribe of Asad, wearing garments, on the evening of the day of sacrifice. Then they returned to me at night, carrying their garments on their hands.' So I asked, 'Ukkashah, why did you go out wearing garments, and then you returned to me carrying your garments?' He said, 'O Umm Qais, this was a day when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made things permissible for us. When we stone the Jamrah, we are allowed to do everything that was forbidden to us, except for women. But if we reach the night and have not yet completed circumambulation, we put our garments on our hands like this.'"  

كَانَتْ لَيْلَتِي الَّتِي يَصِيرُ إِلِيَّ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَعْنِي مَسَاءَ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ فَصَارَ إِلِيَّ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ مُتَقَمِّصَيْنِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِوَهْبٍ هَلْ أَفَضْتَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ انْزِعْ عَنْكَ الْقَمِيصَ فَنَزَعَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ وَنَزَعَ صَاحِبُهُ قَمِيصَهُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ قَالَا وَلِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ رُخِّصَ لَكُمْ إِذَا رَمَيْتُمُ الْجَمْرَةَ أَنْ تَحِلُّوا مِنْ كُلِّ مَا حُرِمْتُمْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا النِّسَاءَ فَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطُوفُوا بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ صِرْتُمْ حُرُمًا كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَرْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ حَتَّى تَطُوفُوا قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ وَحَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ وَكَانَتْ جَارَةً لَهُمْ قَالَتْ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِي عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ مُتَقَمِّصِينِ عَشِيَّةَ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ ثُمَّ رَجَعُوا إِلَيَّ عِشَاءً أَوْ قُمُصُهُمْ عَلَى أَيْدِيهِمْ يَحْمِلُونَهَا قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ أَيْ عُكَّاشَةُ مَا لَكُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ مُتَقَمِّصِينِ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُمْ وَقُمُصُكُمْ عَلَى أَيْدِيكُمْ تَحْمِلُونَهَا؟ فَقَالَ خَيْرٌ يَا أُمَّ قَيْسٍ كَانَ هَذَا يَوْمًا رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَنَا فِيهِ إِذَا نَحْنُ رَمَيْنَا الْجَمْرَةَ حَلَلْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ مَا حُرِمْنَا مِنْهُ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى نَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْنَا وَلَمْ نَطُفْ جَعَلْنَا قُمُصَنَا عَلَى أَيْدِينَا هَكَذَا
