"I saw Ibn ʿUmar praying while taking his camel as a Sutra in front of him and he said, "I saw the Prophet doing the same."

وَقَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ

Whenever Ibn ʿUmar intended to go to Mecca he used to oil himself with a sort of oil that had no pleasant smell, then he would go to the Mosque of Al-Hulaita and offer the prayer, and then ride. When he mounted well on his Mount and the Mount stood up straight, he would proclaim the intention of assuming Ihram, and he used to say that he had seen the Prophet ﷺ doing the same.

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ

"I came to the Messenger of Allah" and he mentioned something similar. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4176)

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4096)

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did this in this place as I did.

هَكَذَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ كَمَا فَعَلْتُ

[AI] I saw Abu Al-Qasim doing it.

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ يَفْعَلُهُ

"We prayed with Abdullah bin Mas'ud in his house. He stood between us and we placed our hands on our knees, but he took them off and made us interlace our fingers, and said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1030)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ هَذَا فَفَعَلْتُ

"This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah doing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2932)

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

Salamah bin Kuhail said “I saw Sa’id bin Jubair he called the iqamah at Al Muzdalifah and offered three ra’kahs of the sunset prayer and two ra’kahs of the night prayer. He then said “I attended Ibn ‘Umar.” He did like this in this place and he (Ibn ‘Umar) said “I attended the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ”. He did in a similar way in this place. رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَنَعَ مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ

"I was with Ibn 'Umar when he departed from 'Arafah. When he came to Jam' (Al-Muzdalifah), he combined Maghrib and 'Isha', and when he finished he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did similar to this in this place.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 606)

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ

[AI] I heard Abu Huraira saying, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in his sandals."

سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي نَعْلَيْهِ

[AI] "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Give them permission.'"

وَقَالَ رَخَّصَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

AbuSa'id said: I saw Wathilah ibn al-Asqa' in the mosque of Damascus. He spat at the mat and then rubbed it with his foot. He was asked: Why did you do so? He said: Because I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 484)

لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مَا فَعَلْتُ

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , turning away from his right."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted them permission.

رَخَّصَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and he mentioned something similar to it.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying on a camel towards Sham."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى بَعِيرٍ نَحْوَ الشَّامِ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing one of his legs on top of the other.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ break his fast when the sun set."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُفْطِرُ إِذَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So he mentioned something similar to it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a pair of patched sandals.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْنِ مَخْصُوفَيْنِ.

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing his right hand over his left in prayer.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ.

Wa’il b.Hujr said that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raise his hands when he uttered the takbir (Allah is most great). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 725)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ مَعَ التَّكْبِيرِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So he mentioned its likeness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] And he said, "So did the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ."

وَقَالَ كَذَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating chicken.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ دَجَاجًا

This tradition has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet ﷺ in a similar manner through a different chain of narrators. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1470)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said and mentioned something similar to it.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is like him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said and mentioned something similar.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed prayer in the house.

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْبَيْتِ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turning away from his sides.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ شِقَّيْهِ

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ»

[AI] "I saw the messenger of Allah ﷺ praying like this."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي كَذَلِكَ»

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘The (funeral) prayer should be offered for a child.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1507)

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهُ»

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution and wipe over his sandals."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ»

[AI] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in his sandals."

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ»
