Rinsing the mouth thoroughly is from the perfection of wudu except when one is fasting

From his father who said: "I said. 'O Messenger of Allah! Inform me about Wudu.' So he said: "Perform Wudu well, and go between the fingers, and perform Istinshaq extensively except when fasting."  

الترمذي:٧٨٨ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ الْوَرَّاقُ وَأَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَاصِمَ بْنَ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ قَالَ أَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ وَخَلِّلْ بَيْنَ الأَصَابِعِ وَبَالِغْ فِي الاِسْتِنْشَاقِ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ كَرِهَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ السَّعُوطَ لِلصَّائِمِ وَرَأَوْا أَنَّ ذَلِكَ يُفْطِرُهُ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ مَا يُقَوِّي قَوْلَهُمْ

ibnmajah:407 – Abū Bakr b. Abū Shaybah

"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about ablution.' He said: 'Perform ablution properly and sniff water up into your nostrils, thoroughly, unless you are fasting.'"  

ابن ماجة:٤٠٧ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

[Machine] I was a new arrival among the Banu Al-Muntafiq when I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, inform me about ablution." He said, "Complete the ablution, run your fingers through your toes, and exaggerate in inhaling water during the sniffing [water into the nostril], except for when you are fasting." This narration is witnessed by Ibn Abbas.  

الحاكم:٥٢٥ – فَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أَنْبَأَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَاصِمَ بْنَ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كُنْتُ وَافِدَ بَنِي الْمُنْتَفِقِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ فَقَالَ «أَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ وَخَلِّلْ بَيْنَ الْأَصَابِعِ وَبَالِغْ فِي الِاسْتِنْشَاقِ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا» وَلِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ شَاهِدٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Trim your fingernails, perform ablution thoroughly, and when you rinse your nose, do so excessively unless you are fasting."  

البيهقي:٨٢٥٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بِشْرَانَ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَلِّلْ أَصَابِعَكَ وَأَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ وَإِذَا اسْتَنْشَقْتَ فَبَالِغْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا  

suyuti:3049a –
