"'Umar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I am ruined!' He said: 'Why are you ruined?' He said: 'I turned my mount during the night (meaning that he went into his wife from behind).'" He said: "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not say anything in reply to him. Then Allah revealed this Ayah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth when or how you will (2:223).' [Machine] Omar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am ruined." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What has ruined you?" Omar replied, "My caravan has been diverted and nothing has been returned to me." Then the verse was revealed: "Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish." He ﷺ said, "Approach and turn away from your wives, and be cautious of blood and menstruation."  

جَاءَ عُمَرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلَكْتُ قَالَ «وَمَا أَهْلَكَكَ؟» قَالَ حُوَّلْتُ رَحْلِيَ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ {نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ فَائْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّى شِئْتُمْ} يَقُولُ أَقْبِلْ وَأَدْبِرْ وَاتَّقِ الدَّمَ وَالْحُيَّضَ

[Machine] 'Omar ibn al-Khattab came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am destroyed." He said, "What has destroyed you?" 'Omar said, "I turned my mount during the night and it did not respond to me in any way." Then Allah revealed to him, {Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you}[Surah Al-Baqarah 2:223]. Face it and turn away from it, and fear Allah in regards to menstruation."
