An example of a woman of Jannah

bukhari:5652Musaddad > Yaḥyá > ʿImrān Abū Bakr > ʿAṭāʾ b. Abū Rabāḥ > Ibn ʿAbbās

Ibn ʿAbbas said to me, "Shall I show you a woman of the people of Paradise?" I said, "Yes." He said, "This black lady came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'I get attacks of epilepsy and my body becomes uncovered; please invoke Allah for me.' The Prophet ﷺ said (to her), 'If you wish, be patient and you will have (enter) Paradise; and if you wish, I will invoke Allah to cure you.' She said, 'I will remain patient,' and added, 'but I become uncovered, so please invoke Allah for me that I may not become uncovered.' So he invoked Allah for her." Narrated 'Ata: That he had seen Um Zafar, the tall black lady, at (holding) the curtain of the Kaʿba.

Making dua for the sick when you visit them; Sickness expiates sins of a believer

bukhari:5662Isḥāq > Khālid b. ʿAbdullāh > Khālid > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon a man for a sick visit and said to him:

"lā baʾs, ṭahūrun, in shā Allāh!"

(It's okay, ˹its spiritual˺ cleansing ˹for your faults˺, by the Will of Allah)

The man said, "No, it is in fact a fever that is boiling within an old man and will send him to his grave." On that, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Then yes, so be it."

Every kind of distress, even a thorn prick, expiates sins

bukhari:5641ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad > ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿAmr > Zuhayr b. Muḥammad > Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. Ḥalḥalah > ʿAṭāʾ b. Yasār > Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī > Abū Hurayrah

The Prophet ﷺ said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick from a thorn, except that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."

Even the slightest of pain expiates sins like leaves fall off of a tree

bukhari:5648ʿAbdān > Abū Ḥamzah > al-Aʿmash > Ibrāhīm al-Taymī > al-Ḥārith b. Sūwayd > ʿAbdullāh

I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was suffering from a high fever. I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, you have a very high fever." He said, "Yes, I have as much fever as two men of you." I said, "Is it because you will have a double reward?"

He said, "Yes, it is so. No Muslim is afflicted with the prick of a thorn or something greater except that Allah expiates his sins because of it just as a tree sheds its leaves."

If one intends to do good but is unable, he is counted among the ones able to do it in spirit

muslim:1911aʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah > Jarīr > al-Aʿmash > Abū Sufyān > Jābir

We were with the Prophet ﷺ on an expedition. He said: There are some people in Medina. They are with you whenever you cover a distance or cross a valley. They have been detained by illness.

ahmad:24838Muḥammad b. Sābiq > Ibrāhīm b. Ṭahmān > Manṣūr > Ibrāhīm b. Yazīd > Masrūq And ʾAbī al-Ḍuḥá > Masrūq > ʿĀʾishah

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited ruqyah for a sick person, said: “Remove the hardship and suffering. Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer and there is no healing except Your healing; (grant) healing which does not leave any sickness behind.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 565)

tabarani:7701Abū Umāmah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, when the Muslim falls ill, Allah Almighty inspires the angels, saying: O angels, I have detained My servant with My confinement. If I take his soul, he will be forgiven. If I heal his body, he will be forgiven as if he had no sins."
