[Machine] Once, I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying something that made me cry. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "I fear for my Ummah (community) associating partners with Allah and the concealed desires." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, will your Ummah associate partners with Allah after you?" He replied, "Yes, indeed. They will not worship the sun, the moon, stones, or idols. Instead, they will be tested through their actions, and the concealed desire is when someone intends to observe fasting but their desire overwhelms them, so they break their fast."  

شَيْئًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهُ فَذَكَرْتُهُ فَأَبْكَانِي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَتَخَوَّفُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الشِّرْكَ وَالشَّهْوَةَ الْخَفِيَّةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتُشْرِكُ أُمَّتُكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قال أَمَا إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْبُدُونَ شَمْسًا وَلَا قَمَرًا وَلَا حَجَرًا وَلَا وَثَنًا وَلَكِنْ يُرَاءُونَ بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ وَالشَّهْوَةُ الْخَفِيَّةُ أَنْ يُصْبِحَأَحَدُهُمْ صَائِمًا فَتَعْرِضُ لَهُ شَهْوَةٌ مِنْ شَهَوَاتِهِ فَيَتْرُكُ صَوْمَهُ  

[Machine] I heard a saying from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so I asked, "What is it?" He said, "While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , I saw something on his face that saddened me, so I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is it that I see on your face?' He said, 'It is a matter that I fear for my Ummah after me.' I asked, 'What is it?' He said, 'Associating partners with Allah (polytheism) and hidden desires.' I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, will your Ummah commit polytheism after you?' He said, 'O Shaddad! They will not worship the sun, the moon, idols, or stones, but they will show off their deeds to people.' I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, is showing off considered polytheism?' He said, 'Yes.' I asked, 'What is the hidden desire?' He said, 'One of you may be fasting and then they are tempted by a desire of this worldly life, so they break their fast.'"  

حَدِيثٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذْ رَأَيْتُ بِوَجْهِهِ أَمْرًا سَاءَنِي فَقُلْتُ بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الَّذِي أَرَى بِوَجْهِكَ؟ قَالَ «أَمْرٌ أَتَخَوَّفُهُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي مِنْ بَعْدِي» قُلْتُ وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ «الشِّرْكُ وَشَهْوَةٌ خَفِيَّةٌ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتُشْرِكُ أُمَّتُكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ؟ قَالَ «يَا شَدَّادُ أَمَا إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْبُدُونَ شَمْسًا وَلَا قَمَرًا وَلَا وَثَنًا وَلَا حَجَرًا وَلَكِنْ يُرَاءُونَ النَّاسَ بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرِّيَاءُ شِرْكٌ هُوَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قُلْتُ فَمَا الشَّهْوَةُ الْخَفِيَّةُ؟ قَالَ «يُصْبِحُ أَحَدُكُمْ صَائِمًا فَتَعْرِضُ لَهُ شَهْوَةٌ مِنْ شَهَوَاتِ الدُّنْيَا فَيُفْطِرُ»  

"أتخوَّفُ على أمتى الشركَ والشهوة الخفيَّة، قيل يا رسول الله أتشرك أمتَّكَ من بعدك؟ قال: نعم، أما إنَّهم لا يعبدون شمسًا، ولا قمرًا، ولا حجرًا، ولا وثنًا، ولكن يراءون الناس بأعمالهم، والشهوةُ الخفيَّة: أن يُصْبِح أحدهم صائمًا، فتعرض له شهوةٌ من شهواتِهِ فيترك صومه".  

"أمْرَان أتخَوَّفَهُمَا عَلَى أُمَّتِي. الشرك والشهْوَةُ الخفِيةُ، أمَّا إِنهُمْ لا يَعْبُدونَ شمسًا, ولا قمَرًا، ولا حَجَرًا, ولا وثنًا, ولكنهُمْ يُرَاءُون بأعْمَالهم، قيل: وما الشهوة الخفية؟ قال: يُصْبحُ العبدُ صَائمًا فتعرضُ له شهوةٌ من شهواته، فَيُوفِقُهَا ويَدع صومه".
