زُهَيْرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ

tabarani:5306 – Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥaḍramī > ʿAbd al-Wārith b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad b. ʿAbd al-Wārith from my father > Hammām b. Yaḥyá > Qatādah

[Machine] It is called ma'ruf, if its name is not Zuhayr ibn 'Uthman, then I do not know what its name is. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The first day of the wedding is a right, the second day is ma'ruf, and the third day is reputation and fame."  

الطبراني:٥٣٠٦ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ثنا أَبِي ثنا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَعْوَرَ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَكَانَ

يُقَالُ لَهُ مَعْرُوفٌ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنِ اسْمُهُ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ فَلَا أَدْرِي مَا اسْمُهٌ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْوَلِيمَةُ أَوَّلُ يَوْمٍ حَقٌّ وَالثَّانِي مَعْرُوفٌ وَالثَّالِثُ سُمْعَةٌ وَرِيَاءٌ»

[Machine] It is said that "Ma'roof" refers to something that is praised or considered good. It is said that Zuhayr ibn Uthman reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "The wedding feast is a right, the second day is 'ma'roof', and the third day is a fame and showoff."
