'Umar consulted the companions about the case of a woman's abortion (caused by somebody else). Al-Mughira said: The Prophet ﷺ gave the verdict that a male or female slave should be given (as a Diya). Then Muhammad bin Maslama testified that he had witnessed the Prophet ﷺ giving such a verdict.

الْمُغِيرَةُ قَضَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالْغُرَّةِ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ فَقَالَ ائْتِ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ فَشَهِدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَضَى بِهِ

I bear witness to the fact that Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave judgment about it that a good quality of slave or female slave should be given for it. Thereupon 'Umar said: Bring one who may bear witness to you. Then Muhammad b. Maslama bore witness to him.

الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَضَى فِيهِ بِغُرَّةٍ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ائْتِنِي بِمَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ قَالَ فَشَهِدَ لَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ

'Umar consulted the people about the compensation of abortion of woman. Al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he gave judgement that a male or female slave should testify you. So he brought Muhammad b. Maslamah to him. Harun added: He then testified him. Imlas means a man striking the belly of his wife. Abu Dawud said: I have been informed that Abu 'Ubaid said: It (abortion) is called imlas because the woman causes it to slip before the time of delivery. Similarly, anything which slips from the hand or from some other thing is called malasa (slipped).

أَنَّ عُمَرَ اسْتَشَارَ النَّاسَ فِي إِمْلاَصِ الْمَرْأَةِ فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِيهَا بِغُرَّةٍ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ فَقَالَ ائْتِنِي بِمَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ فَأَتَاهُ بِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ زَادَ هَارُونُ فَشَهِدَ لَهُ يَعْنِي ضَرَبَ الرَّجُلُ بَطْنَ امْرَأَتِهِ

“Umar bin Khattab consulted the people concerning a woman who had been caused to miscarry. Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah said: 'I saw the messenger of Allah ﷺ rule that a slave, male or female, be given as blood money (for a fetus).' 'Umar said: 'Bring me someone who will testify alongside you. So he brought Muhammad bin Maslamah to testify along with him.'”

الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِيهِ بِغُرَّةٍ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ائْتِنِي بِمَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ فَشَهِدَ مَعَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ

[AI] "Lahul Mughiratu qada fihi Rasulullahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam bil ghurrah faqala lahu 'Umaru in kunta sadiqan fa'ti bi ahadin ya'lamu dhalika fa shahida Muhammad ibnu Muslimah anna Rasulullahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam qada bihi."

Translation: Mughirah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a dispute, and the Prophet ﷺ made a decision in his favor. Umar said to him, "If you are truthful, bring someone who knows about this." Muhammad ibn Muslimah testified that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had indeed made a decision in his favor.

لَهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْغُرَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا فَأْتِ بِأَحَدٍ يَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ فَشَهِدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِهِ

[AI] Al-Mughirah decided, in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , on a matter. Umar said, "If you are truthful, bring someone who knows about it." Muhammad ibn Muslimah testified that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ decide on the matter.

الْمُغِيرَةُ قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا فَائْتِ بِأَحَدٍ يَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ فَشَهِدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بِأَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِيهِ بِغُرَّةٍ

[AI] Al-Mughira reported, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a verdict in favor of a slave or a female slave." So Umar said, "Who will testify with you if you are truthful?" Muhammad ibn Muslimah testified that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ make that judgment.

الْمُغِيرَةُ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةٍ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا؟ فَشَهِدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِذَلِكَ

[AI] "Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba said, 'I witnessed the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , passing a ruling regarding the compensation for the death of a male or female slave at the beginning of the day.' He said, 'Bring someone who can testify with you.' So Muhammad ibn Muslima came to him."

الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ «شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِيهَا بِغُرَّةٍ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ» قَالَ فَائْتِنِي بِمَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ فَأَتَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ

[AI] That Umar consulted the people regarding the emancipation of a woman. Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba said, "I bear witness that I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruling in favor of freeing a male or female slave on the day of Ghurrah (headdress). He said, 'Do you have anyone who can testify with you?' So Muhammad bin Maslamah testified for him."

أَنَّ عُمَرَ اسْتَشَارَ النَّاسَ فِي إِمْلَاصِ الْمَرْأَةِ فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ «شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ» قَضَى بِغُرَّةِ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ فَقَالَ أَتَأْتِينِي بِمَنْ يَشْهَدُ مَعَكَ؟ فَشَهِدَ لَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ

[AI] "Umar consulted them regarding the issue of abortion, meaning termination of pregnancy. Al-Mughira ibn Shu'bah said, 'I asked him, 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pass a verdict on this issue?' Umar said, 'If you are truthful, bring someone who knows about it.' So, I came to Muhammad ibn Muslimah who came and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed a verdict on this issue.'"

أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ اسْتَشَارَهُمْ فِي إِمْلَاصِ الْمَرْأَةِ يَعْنِي السِّقْطَ قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةٍ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا ائْتِ بِمَنْ يَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ فَجِئْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ فَجَاءَ فَقَالَ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةٍ»

[AI] "Mughira reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounced judgment in favor of the plaintiff. 'Umar said: "If you speak the truth, bring forth someone who can bear witness to that." Muhammad ibn Maslamah testified that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounce judgment in favor of the plaintiff."

الْمُغِيرَةُ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةٍ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا فَائْتِ بِأَحَدٍ يَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ فَشَهِدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِيهِ بِغُرَّةٍ

[AI] "Al-Mughira, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled in favor of a slave or a servant." So, Umar said, "Who will testify to your statement?" So, Muhammad ibn Muslimah testified for him.

الْمُغِيرَةُ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةِ عَبْدٍ أَوْ أَمَةٍ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَنْ يُصَدِّقُكَ؟ فَشَهِدَ لَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ

[AI] Al-Mughira bin Shu'bah reported, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled in his favor on a certain matter." Muhammad bin Muslima Al-Ansari testified for him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had ruled in his favor.

الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِغُرَّةٍ» فَشَهِدَ لَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِهِ

[AI] Al-Mughira said, "I said to Umar, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled in favor of the plaintiff at the earliest stage of a dispute.' Umar replied, 'If you are truthful, bring someone who witnessed this with you.' Muhammad ibn Muslima then said, 'I bear witness that the Prophet ﷺ ruled in favor of a woman in the earliest stage of a dispute.' Umar ruled accordingly."

الْمُغِيرَةُ فَقُلْتُ لِعُمَرَ «قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْغُرَّةِ» قَالَ عُمَرُ إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا فَائْتِنِي بِمَنْ يَعْلَمُ هَذَا مَعَكَ فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ «شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَضَى فِي إِمْلَاصِ الْمَرْأَةِ بِالْغُرَّةِ» فَقَضَى بِهِ عُمَرُ ؓ

"عَنْ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ اسْتَشارَهُمْ في أمْلَاطِ الْمَرْأَةِ، فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ، قَضَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ بِغُرة، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: إِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا، فَأتِ بِأَحَدٍ يَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ، فَشَهِد مُحَمَّدُ بنُ سَلَمَة أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ قَضَى فِيهِ بِغُرَّةٍ، فَأَجَازَ شَهَادَتَهُمَا".
