أَبُو حَرْبِ بْنُ أَبِي أَسْوَدَ الدُّؤَلِيُّ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ
[Machine] Imran ibn Husayn narrated to us, saying: We were discussing righteousness in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he began to narrate to us. He said: Among the nations before you, there was a man who was deeply devout; his name was Jurayj. He had a mother, who would come and call him in order to honor him and talk to him. One day, she came to him while he was in prayer, facing towards her, and she called him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated that Jurayj put his hand on his forehead, and she continued to call him, raising her head and putting her hand on her forehead, repeating the name "Jurayj" three times, each time repeating it three times. Jurayj said, "My Lord or my prayer?" His mother became angry and said, "O Allah, let Jurayj not die until he sees the faces of the adulterous women." The daughter of the ruler of the town heard this supplication and became pregnant and gave birth to a son. They asked her, "Who did this to you? Who is your companion?" She said, "He is the man of the prayer cell, Jurayj." He did not pay attention to this until he heard people talking about it and accusing him. When he saw this, he took a rope, tied it to a tree, and let them pull it through his nose and beat him, saying, "You are deceiving people with your actions." He said to them, "What is wrong with you?" They said, "You are the one who got the daughter of the ruler pregnant, aren't you?" He said, "What did she do?" They said, "She gave birth to a boy." He asked, "Is the boy alive?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Leave me alone." Then he performed two Rak'ahs of prayer, and when he finished, he walked to a tree and took a branch from it. Then he went to the boy, who was in his cradle, and struck him with that branch, saying, "O tyrant, who is your father?" The boy replied, "My father is so-and-so, the shepherd." They said, "If you wish, we will rebuild your prayer cell with gold, or if you prefer, with silver." He said, "Restore it as it was." Abu Harb claimed that Jurayj did not speak until only three people did so: 'Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus son of Mary), the witness of Yusuf (Joseph), and the companion of Jurayj.
