[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Among the Children of Israel, there was a man called Jurayj who used to worship in a monastery. One day, his mother came to him and called him. He said, 'O Jurayj, what is it? What is more honorable for me to do? Pray or listen to my mother?' He chose to continue with his prayer. She called him again and again, saying the same thing. He kept choosing prayer over his mother. So she said, 'O Allah, do not cause him to die until he sees the life of prostitutes.' She used to take care of sheep for her family and then she would return to her cell in the monastery. She committed adultery and became pregnant. When they asked her, 'Who is responsible for this?' She said it was Jurayj, the owner of the monastery. They brought knives and tools and said, 'O Jurayj, come out, there is a dispute.' He refused to come out and continued with his prayer. So they destroyed the monastery. When Jurayj saw this, he came out and they put a rope around his and the adulterous woman's necks, parading them in front of the people. He placed his finger on her stomach and asked, 'Child, who is your father?' She replied, 'My father is so-and-so, the shepherd.' They kissed him and said, 'If you wish, we will rebuild your monastery with gold and silver.' He said, 'No, rebuild it as it was before.'"

Juraij, it is your mother, so talk to her. She found him at that time absorbed in prayer, so he said (to himself): O Lord, my mother (is calling me) (whereas I am absorbed) in my prayer. He opted for prayer. She (his mother) went back, then came again for the second time and said: O Juraij, it is your mother (calling you), so talk to me. He said: O Allah. there is my mother also and my prayer, and he opted for prayer. She said: O Allah, this Juraij is my son. I pray to talk to him but he refuses to talk to me. O Allah, don't bring death to him unless he has seen the prostitutes, and had she invoked the curse upon him (from the heart of her heart) he would have been involved in some turmoil. There was a shepherd living near by his temple (the temple where Juraij was engaged in prayer). It so happened that a woman of that village came there and that shepherd committed fornication with her and she became pregnant and gave birth to a child. It was said to her: Whose child is this? She said: He is the child of one who is living in this temple. So there came persons with hatchets and spades. They called Juraij. He was absorbed in prayer and he did not talk to them and they were about to demolish that temple that he saw them and then came to them and they said: Ask her (this woman) what she says. He smiled and then touched the head of the child and said: Who is your father? He (the child) said: My father is the shepherd of the sheep, and when they heard this, they said: We are prepared to rebuild with gold and silver what we have demolished from your temple. He said: No, rebuild it with clay as it had been before. He then went up (to his room and absorbed himself in prayer).

[Machine] Imran ibn Husayn narrated to us, saying: We were discussing righteousness in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he began to narrate to us. He said: Among the nations before you, there was a man who was deeply devout; his name was Jurayj. He had a mother, who would come and call him in order to honor him and talk to him. One day, she came to him while he was in prayer, facing towards her, and she called him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated that Jurayj put his hand on his forehead, and she continued to call him, raising her head and putting her hand on her forehead, repeating the name "Jurayj" three times, each time repeating it three times. Jurayj said, "My Lord or my prayer?" His mother became angry and said, "O Allah, let Jurayj not die until he sees the faces of the adulterous women." The daughter of the ruler of the town heard this supplication and became pregnant and gave birth to a son. They asked her, "Who did this to you? Who is your companion?" She said, "He is the man of the prayer cell, Jurayj." He did not pay attention to this until he heard people talking about it and accusing him. When he saw this, he took a rope, tied it to a tree, and let them pull it through his nose and beat him, saying, "You are deceiving people with your actions." He said to them, "What is wrong with you?" They said, "You are the one who got the daughter of the ruler pregnant, aren't you?" He said, "What did she do?" They said, "She gave birth to a boy." He asked, "Is the boy alive?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Leave me alone." Then he performed two Rak'ahs of prayer, and when he finished, he walked to a tree and took a branch from it. Then he went to the boy, who was in his cradle, and struck him with that branch, saying, "O tyrant, who is your father?" The boy replied, "My father is so-and-so, the shepherd." They said, "If you wish, we will rebuild your prayer cell with gold, or if you prefer, with silver." He said, "Restore it as it was." Abu Harb claimed that Jurayj did not speak until only three people did so: 'Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus son of Mary), the witness of Yusuf (Joseph), and the companion of Jurayj.
