صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ شَيْبَةَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الْحَجَبِيَّةُ

[Machine] I went to Safiyyah bint Shaybah, an elderly woman, and asked her, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marry her while he was in a state of ihram?" She said, "No, he married her and they were both permissible."  

أَتَيْتُ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ شَيْبَةَ امْرَأَةً كَبِيرَةً فَقُلْتُ لَهَا أَتَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ «لَا وَلَقَدْ تَزَوَّجَهَا وَهُمَا حَلَالَانِ»  

[Machine] When the Prophet ﷺ passed away, Safiyyah came out, her cloak sparkling, and she was saying,  

لَمَّا قُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَرَجَتْ صَفِيَّةُ تَلْتَمِعُ بِرِدَائِها وَهِيَ تَقُولُ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah entered upon me, so I presented to him a shoulder that I had roasted, which he ate, then he stood up for prayer.  

«دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْهِ كَتِفًا كُنْتُ أسْحَلُهُ فَأَكَلَهَا ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ»  

[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Uhud, he placed his wives in a cart called Faari' and Huthaan ibn Thaabit was with them. Hassaan used to keep an eye on the Prophet ﷺ, and whenever he confronted the polytheists, Hassaan would do the same in the fortress. And when he returned, he also retreated. Some Jews came and one of them climbed onto the fortress until the fortress overlooked us. I said to Hassaan, 'Go and kill him!' He said, 'What's that to do with me? Even if it was about me, I would be with the Prophet ﷺ.' Safiyyah hit his head until she cut it. When she cut it, she said to Hassaan, 'Go to his head and throw it at them, while they are at the bottom of the fortress.' He said, 'I swear by Allah, that has nothing to do with me.' She said, 'So I took his head and threw it at them.' They said, 'By Allah, we knew that Muhammad did not leave his family without protection.' They dispersed and left. Sa'd ibn Mu'aadh passed by with a trace of yellow, as if he had just gotten married, and he said..."  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا خَرَجَ إِلَى أُحُدٍ جَعَلَ نِسَاءَهُ فِي أُطُمٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ فَارِعٌ وَجَعَلَ مَعَهُنَّ حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ» فَكَانَ حَسَّانُ يَطْلُعُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَإِذَا شَدَّ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ أَشَدَّ مَعَهُ فِي الْحِصْنِ وَإِذَا رَجَعَ رَجَعَ وَرَاءَهُ قَالَتْ فَجَاءَ أُنَاسٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ فَتَرَقَّى أَحَدُهُمْ فِي الْحِصْنِ حَتَّى أَطَلَّ الْحِصْنَ عَلَيْنَا فَقُلْتُ لِحَسَّانَ قُمْ إِلَيْهِ فَاقْتُلْهُ فَقَالَ مَا ذَاكَ فِيَّ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ فِيَّ لَكُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَضَرَبَتْ صَفِيَّةُ رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى قَطَعَتْهُ فَلَمَّا قَطَعَتْهُ قَالَتْ يَا حَسَّانُ قُمْ إِلَى رَأْسِهِ فَارْمِ بِهِ إِلَيْهِمْ وَهُمْ مِنْ أَسْفَلِ الْحِصْنِ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا ذَاكَ فِيَّ قَالَتْ فَأَخَذْتُ بِرَأْسِهِ فَرَمَيْتُهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا قَدْ وَاللهِ عَلِمْنَا أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا لَمْ يَتْرُكْ أَهْلَهُ خُلُوفًا لَيْسَ مَعَهُمْ أَحَدٌ وتَفَرَّقُوا وَذَهَبُوا قَالَتْ وَمَرَّ قَبْلَ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ وَبِهِ أَثَرُ صُفْرَةٍ كَأَنَّهُ كَانَ مُعَرِّسًا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ  

[Machine] The people were at ease on the day of the conquest of Mecca. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , circumambulated the Kaaba on a camel, holding the Black Stone in its container with his hand. Then he entered the Kaaba and I was watching. He saw a group of idols, so he stood up and broke them, then he threw them away while I was watching.  

اطْمَأَنَّ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ طَافَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ يَسْتَلِمُ الْحَجَرَ بِمِحْجَنٍ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ فَرَأَى جَمَاعَةَ عِيدَانٍ فَقَامَ فَكَسَرَهَا ثُمَّ رَمَاهَا وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ»  

[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing a white garment while he was inside the Kaaba, and then he started hitting the images inside it.  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَلَّ ثَوْبًا وَهُوَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ يَضْرِبُ التَّصَاوِيرَ الَّتِي فِيهَا»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ) performed Tawaf of the Kaaba on his mount during the Year of the Conquest when he entered Mecca, continuing around the House, touching the corner (of the Kaaba) with his staff.  

طَافَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ حِينَ دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ حَوْلَ الْبَيْتِ يَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَ بِمِحْجَنِهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Strive, for surely striving is ordained upon you."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اسْعَوْا فَإِنَّ السَّعْيَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ»  

[Machine] "Safiyyah bint Umar ibn al-Khattab was with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Khaibar."  

«أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ كَانَتْ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ»  

[Machine] She used to say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade fasting on Saturdays, and he said, "If any one of you cannot find anything but a green date, then let him break his fast with it."  

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ وَقَالَ «إِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا عُودًا أَخْضَرَ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَيْهِ»  

[Machine] She used to say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade fasting on Saturdays."  

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَقُولُ «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ»  

[Machine] She heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Do not fast on Saturdays, except for what is obligatory upon you. And if one of you cannot find except for a tree bark, then let him chew it."  

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَصُومُوا يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ إِلَّا فِيمَا افْتُرِضَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا لِحَى شَجَرَةٍ فَلْيَقْضِمْهُ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Do not fast on Saturdays, except for what is obligatory upon you. And whoever finds nothing but the peel of a date or grapes, let him chew it."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَصُومُوا يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ إِلَّا فِيمَا افْتُرِضَ عَلَيْكُمْ صِيَامُهُ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِلَّا لِحَى أَوْ غَرْسِ عِنَبٍ فَلْيَمْضُغْهُ»  

[Machine] She heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "Do not fast on Saturday unless it is a day that has been prescribed for you. And if one of you does not find anything except a piece of wood or the bark of a tree, let him chew on it."  

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَصُومُوا يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ إِلَّا فِيمَا افْتُرِضَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا عُودًا أَوْ لِحَى شَجَرَةٍ فَلْيَمْضُغْهُ»  

[Machine] "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Do not fast on Saturdays unless it is an obligatory fast prescribed by Allah upon you.'"  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا تَصُومُوا يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ إِلَّا فِيمَا افْتَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever is able to die in Medina, let them die. Whoever dies in Medina, I will be a witness or an intercessor for him." This was narrated by Salih ibn Abi Al-Akhdar and it was included in its chain of narration.  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَمُتْ فَمَنْ مَاتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ كُنْتُ لَهُ شَهِيدًا أَوْ شَفِيعًا» هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ وَخُولِفَ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ  

[Machine] About a woman named Sumaytah from the Banu Layth ibn Bakr, who was in the chamber of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , she said, "I heard her mentioning Safiyyah, the daughter of Abu Ubayd, saying that she heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'Whoever among you is able to die in Madinah, then let him die there, for indeed he dies as a martyr and will be interceded for.'"  

عَنْ صُمَيْتَةَ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي لَيْثِ بْنِ بَكْرٍ كَانَتْ فِي حِجْرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُهَا تُحَدِّثُ صَفِيَّةَ ابْنَةَ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَمُتْ فَإِنَّهُ يَمُتْ شَهِيدًا وَيُشَفَّعُ لَهُ»  

[Machine] About an orphan woman who was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "Whoever is able to die in Madinah, let him die, for indeed, whoever dies in Madinah, I will be his witness or intercessor on the Day of Resurrection."  

عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ يَتِيمَةٍ كَانَتْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَمُتْ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ مَاتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ كُنْتُ لَهُ شَهِيدًا أَوْ شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

[Machine] About a woman from the tribe of Bani Abdul Dar who was in the house of the Prophet ﷺ, she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever is able to die in Medina, then let them die. For whoever dies there, I will be a witness or an intercessor for him on the Day of Judgment."  

عَنِ الدَّارِيَّةِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ كَانَتْ فِي حِجْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَمُتْ فَمَنْ مَاتَ فِيهَا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَهِيدًا أَوْ شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said to Dhuba'ah, 'Perform the pilgrimage and stipulate that my place of confinement is where you have held me.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِضُبَاعَةَ «حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي أَنَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي»  

[Machine] Zubayra bint al-Zubayr ibn Abd al-Muttalib came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I want to perform Hajj. Should I stipulate any conditions?" He replied, "Yes." She asked, "How should I say it?" He said, "Say: Labbaik Allahumma labbaik mahilli min al-ardh, haythu habastani."  

أَنَّ ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتَ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ أَفَأَشْتَرِطُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَتْ كَيْفَ أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ قُولِي لَبَّيْكَ اللهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ مَحِلِّي مِنَ الْأَرْضِ حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي  

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ said to Dib'aa'a: "Perform Hajj, but stipulate that my place of confinement is where you are holding me."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِضُبَاعَةَ «حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي أَنَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said to Duba'ah: 'Make a condition with my words, O Allah, place me wherever You have confined me.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِضُبَاعَةَ حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي قُولِي اللهُمَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to Dhuba'ah, "Make sure that my place of captivity is included in the conditions."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِضُبَاعَةَ «اشْتَرِطِي أَنَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي»  

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ said to Duba'ah: "Take my advice and make sure to say: O Allah, my place is wherever You have confined me."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِضُبَاعَةَ حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي قُولِي اللهُمَّ إِنَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered upon Du'bah, the daughter of Zubayr ibn Abd al-Muttalib, while she was complaining. She said, "I wish to perform Hajj but I am unable to. "The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "Perform Hajj and make the condition that you say: 'O Allah, my place of residence is wherever You have confined me.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَهِيَ شَاكِيَةٌ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ وَإِنِّي شَاكِيَةٌ فَقَالَ «حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي قُولِي اللهُمَّ إِنَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Duba'ah bint al-Zubair ibn Abdul-Muttalib, "Do you want to perform Hajj?'' She said, "I am sick.'' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said to her, ''Perform Hajj and stipulate, 'O Allah, enable me to perform Hajj wherever you have restricted me.''  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ «أَتُرِيدِينَ الْحَجَّ؟» قَالَتْ إِنِّي مَرِيضَةٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي وَقُولِي اللهُمَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي  

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Duba'ah bint Zubayr bin Abdul-Muttalib, who was staying with Mikdad bin Al-Aswad, a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said to her, "Perhaps you want to perform Hajj?" She replied, "By Allah, I find myself unable due to illness." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Perform the Hajj and make a condition by saying, 'O Allah, my place of residence is wherever You have detained me.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهَا «لَعَلَّكِ أَرَدْتِ الْحَجَّ؟» قَالَتْ وَاللهِ مَا أَجِدُنِي إِلَّا وَجِعَةً فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حُجِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي قُولِي اللهُمَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي
