Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If anyone of you goes to an open space for answering the call of nature he should neither face nor turn his back towards the Qibla; he should either face the east or the west."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلاَ يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ يُوَلِّهَا ظَهْرَهُ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا

When any one amongst you squats for answering the call of nature, he should neither turn his face towards the Qibla nor turn his back towards it.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا جَلَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى حَاجَتِهِ فَلاَ يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا

The Apostle of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) as saying: I am like father to you. When any of you goes to privy, he should not face or turn his back towards the qiblah. He should not cleanse with his right hand. He (the Prophet, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) also commanded the Muslims to use three stones and forbade them to use dung or decayed bone.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْوَالِدِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلاَ يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلاَ يَسْتَطِبْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالرِّمَّةِ

"Do not face towards the Qiblah nor turn your backs toward it when defecating or urinating, rather face toward the east or the west."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا لِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When any one of you goes to defecate, let him not face toward the Qiblah, rather let him face towards the east or the west.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلاَ يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَكِنْ لِيُشَرِّقْ أَوْ لِيُغَرِّبْ

"I am like a father teaching you. When any one of you goes to Al-Khala' (the toilet), let him not face toward the Qiblah nor turn his back toward it, and let him not clean himself with his right hand." And he used to tell them to use three stones, and he forbade using dung or old bones.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ مِثْلُ الْوَالِدِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ إِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْخَلاَءِ فَلاَ يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلاَ يَسْتَنْجِ بِيَمِينِهِ وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَنَهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالرِّمَّةِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'I am to you like a father to his son, and I teach you. So when you go to relieve yourselves, do not face the Qiblah or turn your backs towards it.' He ordered us to use three pebbles, and he forbade us to use dung and bones, and he forbade cleaning oneself with the right hand."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ مِثْلُ الْوَالِدِ لِوَلَدِهِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلاَ تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا وَأَمَرَ بِثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَنَهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالرِّمَّةِ وَنَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَطِيبَ الرَّجُلُ بِيَمِينِهِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When any of you goes to relieve himself, he should take with him three stones to cleans himself, for they will be enough for him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 40)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فَلْيَذْهَبْ مَعَهُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ يَسْتَطِيبُ بِهِنَّ فَإِنَّهَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "I am to you like a father to a child. I teach you, so do not face the qibla (direction of prayer) or turn your back to it. And if you perform ablution, do not wipe your right hand with it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ مِثْلُ الْوَالِدِ لِلْوَلَدِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ فَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا وَإِذَا اسْتَطَبْتَ فَلَا تَسْتَطِبْ بِيَمِينِكَ»

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: I am like a father to you. When you come to relieve yourselves, do not face the qiblah (direction of prayer), nor turn your back towards it. And he forbade defecating or urinating in stagnant water, and a man should not cleanse himself with his right hand."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you goes to relieve himself, he should not face the Qibla (direction of prayer) nor turn his back towards it, but he should either face the east or the west." Abu Ayyub commented, "When we arrived in Sham (Greater Syria), we found the toilets were made toward the Qibla, so we would change our direction and seek forgiveness from Allah."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلَكِنْ لِيُشَرِّقْ أَوْ لِيُغَرِّبْ قَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الشَّامَ وَجَدْنَا مَرَاحِيضَ جُعِلَتْ نَحْوَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَنَنْحَرِفُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you goes to relieve themselves, do not face the Qibla (the direction of prayer) nor turn your back towards it with your urine or feces, but rather face east or west."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا بِغَائِطٍ وَلَا بَوْلٍ وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا»

"Do not face towards the Qiblah nor turn your backs toward it when defecating or urinating, rather face toward the east or the west." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 21)

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ إنما أنا لكم مثل الوالد أعلمكم إذا أتى أحدكم الغائط فلا يستقبل القبلة ولاَ يستدبرها وإذا استطاب أحدكم فلا يستطيب بيمينه وَكان يأمر بثلاثة أحجار ونهى عن الروث والرمة وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لاَ نعلمُهُ يُرْوَى عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When any one of you goes to defecate, let him not face toward the Qiblah, rather let him face towards the east or the west.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 22)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلَكِنْ لِيُشَرِّقْ أَوْ لِيُغَرِّبْ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "When one of you goes out to relieve himself, let him not face towards the Qibla (direction of prayer) or turn his back towards it, rather let him face east or west."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا خَرَجَ أَحَدُكُمْ لِلْغَائِطِ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلْيُشَرِّقْ أَوْ لِيُغَرِّبْ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When one of you goes to the bathroom, he should not face the qibla (direction of prayer) nor turn his back to it. Rather, turn to the east or west."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا وَغَرِّبُوا»

[AI] So when one of you goes to the toilet, do not face the Qibla nor turn your back towards it for urination or defecation. Instead, use three stones for cleansing and avoid using (unclean) straw or bones.

فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا لِغَائِطٍ وَلَا بَوْلٍ وَلْيَسْتَنْجِ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَنَهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالرِّمَّةِ

"I am like a father teaching you. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If anyone of you goes to an open space for answering the call of nature he should neither face nor turn his back towards the Qibla; he should either face the east or the west." (Using translation from Bukhārī 144)

"إذا أتى أحدُكم الغائطَ فلا يستقبلْ القبلة، ولا يُوَلَّها ظهَرهُ، شرِّقُوا أو غَرِّبُوا" .

"Do not face towards the Qiblah nor turn your backs toward it when defecating or urinating, rather face toward the east or the west." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 21)

"إذا أتيتم الغائط فلا تستقبلوا القبلَة ولا تستدبروها ببولٍ ولا غائطٍ، ولكن شرِّقوا أو غربوا ".

"إذَا بال أحدكُمْ أوْ تَغَوطَ فلا يسْتَقْبلْ القِبْلةَ ولا يسْتدبْرها بِفْرجِه".

"إِذَا ذهب أحدُكُمْ إلى الخَلاءِ فلا يستقْبلْ القِبْلَةَ ولا يستدْبرها".

"إِذَا ذهب أحدُكُمْ إلى الغائطِ أو البَوْلِ فلا يسْتقْبلْ القبْلةَ، ولا يستدبْرها بفَرْجه".

"إِذَا ذهب أحدُكُمْ إلى الغائط فلا يستقْبِلْ القبْلَةَ ولا يستَدْبِرها لغائط ولا بَوْل".

"إِنَّمَا أَنا لكم مثلُ الوالدِ للولدِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ، إِذا أَتيتم الغائِطَ فلا تستقبِلوا القبلةَ ولا تستدبروها".

"إِنَّما أَنا لكم مثلُ الوالِدِ ، فإِذا ذهب أَحدكم إِلى الغائط فلا يستقبل القبلة ولا يستدبرها لِغائط ولا بولِ وليستنج بثلاثة أَحجار".

"أَنَّ رسولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: إِنَّما أَنا لِكُم مِثْلُ الَوالِد لِلولَدِ إِذَا أَتيتُمُ الغَائِطَ فَلا تَستقْبِلوا الِقْبلةَ ولا تَستَدْبروهَا وأَمَر بثلاثَة أَحْجَارٍ، ونَهَى عنْ الرَّوْثِ والرَّمة: يَعْنِى العِظَامَ، وَنَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَطِيب الرَّجُلُ بِيمِينهِ".

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِنَّما أَنَا لكُم كَالَوالِدِ لِوَلَدِهِ أعلمكُمْ إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدكُم الغَائطَ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبل الْقِبْلَةَ، وَلَا يَسْتَدْبرهَا، وَإِذَا اسْتَطابَ فَلَا يَسَتطب بِيمينه، وَكَان يَأْمُرُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ، وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالرَّمَّةِ وَهِيَ الْعَظمُ".
