Ali remained behind the Prophet ﷺ during the battle of Khaibar as he way suffering from some eye trouble but then he said, "How should I stay behind Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" So, he set out till he joined the Prophet. On the eve of the day of the conquest of Khaibar, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "(No doubt) I will give the flag or, tomorrow, a man whom Allah and His Apostle love or who loves Allah and His apostle will take the flag. Allah will bestow victory upon him." Suddenly 'Ali joined us though we were not expecting him. The people said, "Here is 'Ali. "So, Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the flag to him and Allah bestowed victory upon him.

كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ تَخَلَّفَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي خَيْبَرَ وَكَانَ بِهِ رَمَدٌ فَقَالَ أَنَا أَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ عَلِيٌّ فَلَحِقَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مَسَاءُ اللَّيْلَةِ الَّتِي فَتَحَهَا فِي صَبَاحِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لَيَأْخُذَنَّ غَدًا رَجُلٌ يُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَوْ قَالَ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا نَحْنُ بِعَلِيٍّ وَمَا نَرْجُوهُ فَقَالُوا هَذَا عَلِيٌّ فَأَعْطَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

ʿAli happened to stay behind the Prophet ﷺ and (did not join him) during the battle of Khaibar for he was having eye trouble. Then he said, "How could I remain behind Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" So ʿAli set out following the Prophet ﷺ , When it was the eve of the day in the morning of which Allah helped (the Muslims) to conquer it, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will give the flag (to a man), or tomorrow a man whom Allah and His Apostle love will take the flag," or said, "A man who loves Allah and His Apostle; and Allah will grant victory under his leadership." Suddenly came ʿAli whom we did not expect. The people said, "This is ʿAli." Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him the flag and Allah granted victory under his leadership.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي خَيْبَرَ وَكَانَ بِهِ رَمَدٌ فَقَالَ أَنَا أَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ عَلِيٌّ فَلَحِقَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مَسَاءُ اللَّيْلَةِ الَّتِي فَتَحَهَا اللَّهُ فِي صَبَاحِهَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ أَوْ لَيَأْخُذَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلاً يُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَوْ قَالَ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا نَحْنُ بِعَلِيٍّ وَمَا نَرْجُوهُ فَقَالُوا هَذَا عَلِيٌّ فَأَعْطَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

ʿAli remained behind the Prophet ﷺ during the Ghazwa of Khaibar as he was suffering from eye trouble. He then said, "(How can) I remain behind the Prophet ﷺ ," and followed him. So when he slept on the night of the conquest of Khaibar, the Prophet ﷺ said, "I will give the flag tomorrow, or tomorrow the flag will be taken by a man who is loved by Allah and His Apostle , and (Khaibar) will be conquered through him, (with Allah's help)" While every one of us was hopeful to have the flag, it was said, "Here is ʿAli" and the Prophet ﷺ gave him the flag and Khaibar was conquered through him (with Allah's Help).

كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ تَخَلَّفَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي خَيْبَرَ وَكَانَ رَمِدًا فَقَالَ أَنَا أَتَخَلَّفُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَحِقَ فَلَمَّا بِتْنَا اللَّيْلَةَ الَّتِي فُتِحَتْ قَالَ لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا أَوْ لَيَأْخُذَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلٌ يُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ يُفْتَحُ عَلَيْهِ فَنَحْنُ نَرْجُوهَا فَقِيلَ هَذَا عَلِيٌّ فَأَعْطَاهُ فَفُتِحَ عَلَيْهِ

Is it for me to remain behind Messenger of Allah ﷺ? So he went forth and rejoined Allah's Apostle ﷺ and on the evening of that night (after which) next morning Allah granted victory. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I will certainly give this standard to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love. or he said: Who loves Allah or His Messenger and Allah will grant him victory through him, and, lo, we saw 'Ali whom we least expected (to be present on that occasion). They (the Companions) said: Here is 'Ali. Thereupon Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon hin) gave him the standard. Allah granted victory at his hand.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي خَيْبَرَ وَكَانَ رَمِدًا فَقَالَ أَنَا أَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ عَلِيٌّ فَلَحِقَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مَسَاءُ اللَّيْلَةِ الَّتِي فَتَحَهَا اللَّهُ فِي صَبَاحِهَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ أَوْ لَيَأْخُذَنَّ بِالرَّايَةِ غَدًا رَجُلٌ يُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَوْ قَالَ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا نَحْنُ بِعَلِيٍّ وَمَا نَرْجُوهُ فَقَالُوا هَذَا عَلِيٌّ فَأَعْطَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الرَّايَةَ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Today, I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger." The people were eager and asked, "Where is Ali?" They said he had eye pain, so he called him. He spat in his hands and wiped Ali's eyes with them. Then he handed him the flag, and Allah granted him victory.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الرَّايَةَ الْيَوْمَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ» فَتَطَاوَلَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ»؟ فَقَالُوا يَشْتَكِي عَيْنَهُ فَدَعَاهُ فَبَزَقَ فِي كَفَّيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِهِمَا عَيْنَ عَلِيٍّ ثُمَّ دَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ الرَّايَةَ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ؛ أَنَّه قال لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ويحبه الله ورسوله فدخل علي وهُو أرمد فبصق في عينه ثُمَّ أعطاه يعني الراية ففتح الله عليه

[AI] On the day of the Battle of Khaybar, while we were with the Prophet ﷺ , he took the flag and said, "I will give this flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger." The people competed to see who will be given the flag, so the Prophet ﷺ called Ali ibn Abi Talib. Ali approached with his eyes lowered. The Prophet ﷺ spat in his eyes and then handed him the flag. Allah granted Ali victory.

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ خَيْبَرَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخَذَ الرَّايَةَ فَقَالَ «أُعْطِي هَذِهِ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ» فَتَطَاوَلَ النَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ مَنْ يُعْطِيهَا فَدَعَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ وَعَلِيٌّ أَرْمَدُ فَبَصَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهَا إِيَّاهُ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Khaybar, "I will give the flag today to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger and whom Allah and His Messenger love." He then sent me to Ali, and he was suffering from an eye ailment. So I took hold of him and applied saliva to his eye, and he was healed. He then gave him the flag.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ الْيَوْمَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» قَالَ فَبَعَثَنِي إِلَى عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ أَقُودُهُ فَتَفَلَ فِي عَيْنَهِ فَبَرَأَ وَأَعْطَاهُ الرَّايَةَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will give the banner to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love, and he also loves Allah and His Messenger." Then he gave it to Ali.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَأَعْطَاهَا عَلِيًّا ؓ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will give the flag tomorrow to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love." Then he called Ali and gave it to him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» ثُمَّ دَعَا عَلِيًّا ؓ فَأَعْطَاهَا إِيَّاهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Khaybar, "Tomorrow, I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him." He then called Ali and gave it to him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرٍ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَدَعَا عَلِيًّا فَأَعْطَاهَا إِيَّاهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Tomorrow I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love." So he gave it to Ali.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَأَعْطَاهَا عَلِيًّا

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, or Allah and His Messenger love him.' So, he called for Ali while he was blind in both eyes, and Allah opened his eyes."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أَوْ قَالَ «يُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَدَعَا عَلِيًّا وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَى يَعْنِي يَدَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Today, I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love." The people became eager and asked, "Where is Ali?" They were told that he was suffering from eye pain. The Prophet called for him and spat in his hands. Then, he wiped Ali's eyes with his blessed hands and handed him the flag. On that day, Allah granted Ali victory.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الرَّايَةَ الْيَوْمَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَتَطَاوَلَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ؟» قَالُوا يَشْتَكِي عَيْنَيْهِ فَدَعَا بِهِ فَبَزَقَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهِمَا عَيْنِي عَلِيٍّ وَدَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ الرَّايَةَ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Tomorrow, I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love. Allah will grant victory through his hands." His companions were excited about it, and the flag was given to Ali.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ يَفْتَحُ اللهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ» فَاسْتَشْرَفَ لَهَا أَصْحَابُهُ فَدَفَعَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Today, I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him." So, the people asked, "Where is Ali?" They said that he was complaining about his eyes. The Prophet ﷺ then spit on his hands, wiped Ali's eyes with them, and handed him the banner. Allah granted him victory at his hands.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الْيَوْمَ الرَّايَةَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَتَطَاوَلَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ عَلِيٌّ؟» فَقَالُوا يَشْتَكِي عَيْنَيْهِ قَالَ «فَبَصَقَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كَفَّيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِهَا عَيْنَيْ عَلِيٍّ وَدَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ الرَّايَةَ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ»

[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'I will surely give the flag to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love.' Or he said, 'Whom Allah and His Messenger love.' So he called Ali, while he was suffering from an eye infection, and Allah opened for him on his hands."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ» أَوْ قَالَ «يُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» فَدَعَا عَلِيًّا وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رسولُ الله ﷺ لأَدْفَعَنَّ الَيْومَ الرَّايَةَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، فَتَطَاوَلَ الْقَومُ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ عَلِىٌّ؟ فَقَالُوا: يَشْتَكِى عَيْنَيْهِ، فَدَعَاهُ فَبَزَقَ في كَفَّيهِ وَمَسَحَ بِهِمَا عَينَ عَلِىٍّ، ثُمَّ دَفَعَ إِلَيْه الرَّايةَ، فَفَتَحَ اللهُ -تَعَالَى- عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ".
