“ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah passed by Sahl bin Hunaif when he was having a bath, and said: ‘I have never seen such beautiful skin.’ Straightaway, he (Sahl) fell to the ground. He was brought to the Prophet ﷺ and it was said: ‘Sahl has had a fit.’ He said: ‘Whom do you accuse with regard to him?’ They said: “ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah.’ They said: ‘Why would anyone of you kill his brother? If he sees something that he likes, then let him pray for blessing for him.’ Then he called for water, and he told ‘Amir to perform ablution, then he washed his face and his arms up to the elbows, his knees and inside his lower garment, then he told him to pour the water over him.”

لَمْ أَرَ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلاَ جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ لُبِطَ بِهِ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَدْرِكْ سَهْلاً صَرِيعًا قَالَ مَنْ تَتَّهِمُونَ بِهِ قَالُوا عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ عَلاَمَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ إِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ أَخِيهِ مَا يُعْجِبُهُ فَلْيَدْعُ لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَأَمَرَ عَامِرًا أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيَغْسِلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَكْفَأَ الإِنَاءَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and they traveled with him towards Makkah. When they reached the tribal area of Khazzar in Al-Juhfah, Sahil ibn Hunayf bathed. He was a white man with a good physique and fair complexion. Aamir ibn Rabee'ah, the brother of Banu Adi ibn Ka'b, was also bathing. He looked at Sahil and said, "I have never seen today a better physique or prettier skin hidden." Sahil felt shy, so he covered himself. He went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and it was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, do you have any description of Sahil?" By Allah, he did not raise his head or open his eyes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Are you accusing him?" They replied, "Aamir ibn Rabi'ah looked at him." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Aamir and became angry with him, saying, "Why should one of you kill his brother? Couldn't you have blessed him when you saw something you liked?" Then he said to him, "Bathe for him." So Aamir washed his face, hands, forearms, knees, and the ends of his feet, and poured water inside his izar (clothing) into a container. Then the water was poured on him by a man, pouring it over his head and back from behind, holding the container behind him. Sahil practiced this, and then he continued with the people without any harm.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ وَسَارُوا مَعَهُ نَحْوَ مَكَّةَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا بِشِعْبِ الْخَزَّارِ مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ اغْتَسَلَ سَهْلُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا أَبْيَضَ حَسَنَ الْجِسْمِ وَالْجِلْدِ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ أَخُو بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ مَارَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ بِسَهْلٌ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي سَهْلٍ؟ وَاللهِ مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ وَمَا يُفِيقُ قَالَ هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ فِيهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ؟ قَالُوا نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامِرًا فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ هَلَّا إِذَا رَأَيْتَ مَا يُعْجِبُكَ بَرَّكْتَ؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ اغْتَسِلْ لَهُ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ وَمِرْفَقَيْهِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَطْرَافَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ فِي قَدَحٍ ثُمَّ صُبَّ ذَلِكَ الْمَاءُ عَلَيْهِ يَصُبُّهُ رَجُلٌ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَظَهْرِهِ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ يُكْفِئُ الْقَدَحَ وَرَاءَهُ فَفَعَلَ بِهِ ذَلِكَ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ النَّاسِ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

Yahya related to me from Malik that Muhammad ibn Abi Umama ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf heard his father say, "My father, Sahl ibn Hunayf did a ghusl at al-Kharrar. He removed the jubbah he had on while Amir ibn Rabia was watching, and Sahl was a man with beautiful white skin. Amir said to him, 'I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, not even the skin of a virgin.' Sahl fell ill on the spot, and his condition grew worse. Somebody went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him that Sahl was ill, and could not go with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him, and Sahl told him what had happened with Amir. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Why does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not say, "May Allah bless you?" (ta baraka-llah) The evil eye is true. Do wudu from it.' Amir did wudu from it and Sahl went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and there was nothing wrong with him."

اغْتَسَلَ أَبِي سَهْلُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ بِالْخَرَّارِ فَنَزَعَ جُبَّةً كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ يَنْظُرُ قَالَ وَكَانَ سَهْلٌ رَجُلاً أَبْيَضَ حَسَنَ الْجِلْدِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلاَ جِلْدَ عَذْرَاءَ قَالَ فَوُعِكَ سَهْلٌ مَكَانَهُ وَاشْتَدَّ وَعْكُهُ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأُخْبِرَ أَنَّ سَهْلاً وُعِكَ وَأَنَّهُ غَيْرُ رَائِحٍ مَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ سَهْلٌ بِالَّذِي كَانَ مِنْ شَأْنِ عَامِرٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلاَمَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ أَلاَّ بَرَّكْتَ إِنَّ الْعَيْنَ حَقٌّ تَوَضَّأْ لَهُ فَتَوَضَّأَ لَهُ عَامِرٌ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

Malik related to me from Ibn Shihab that Abu Umama ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf said, ''Amir ibn Rabia saw Sahl ibn Hunayf doing a ghusl and said, 'I have not seen the like of what I see today, not even the skin of a maiden who has never been out of doors.' Sahl fell to the ground. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was approached and it was said, 'Messenger of Allah, can you do anything about Sahl ibn Hunayf? By Allah, he can not raise his head.' He said, 'Do you suspect anyone of it?' They said, 'We suspect Amir ibn Rabia.' " He continued, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned Amir and was furious with him and said, 'Why does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not say, "May Allah bless you?" Do ghusl for it.' Amir washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, the end of his feet, and inside his lower garment in a vessel. Then he poured it over him, and Sahl went off with the people, and there was nothing wrong with him."

فَقَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلاَ جِلْدَ مُخْبَأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ سَهْلٌ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ وَاللَّهِ مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ لَهُ أَحَدًا قَالُوا نَتَّهِمُ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَامِرًا فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ عَلاَمَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ أَلاَّ بَرَّكْتَ اغْتَسِلْ لَهُ فَغَسَلَ عَامِرٌ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ وَمِرْفَقَيْهِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَطْرَافَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ فِي قَدَحٍ ثُمَّ صُبَّ عَلَيْهِ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ النَّاسِ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

[AI] Ameer ibn Rabee'ah, the brother of Bani Adi ibn Ka'b, saw Sahl ibn Hunayf while he was with the Messenger of Allahﷺ taking a bath in Al-Kharrar. Ameer said, "By Allah, I have never seen anything like today, not even a hidden skin." Sahl was struck with boils, so he went to the Prophetﷺ and it was said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you have any objection against Sahl ibn Hunayf who has not raised his head?" The Messenger of Allahﷺ asked, "Are you accusing someone?" They replied, "Yes, Ameer ibn Rabee'ah saw him while he was taking a bath." Ameer said, "By Allah, I have never seen anything like today, not even a hidden skin." So the Messenger of Allahﷺ called Ameer ibn Rabee'ah and became angry with him, saying, "Why would any one of you kill his brother? Would you not bless him? Take a bath for him." So Ameer performed the ritual bath for him, and Sahl continued with the journey without any harm.

أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ أَخَا بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَأَى سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ وَهُوَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْخَرَّارِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ قَالَ فَلُبِطَ سَهْلٌ فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ لَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ مِنْ أَحَدٍ؟ » قَالُوا نَعَمْ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ رَآهُ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ أَلَا تُبَرِّكُ؟ اغْتَسِلْ لَهُ» فَغَسَلَ لَهُ عَامِرٌ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

[AI] He went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until they reached Al-Kharrar. He entered water to perform ablution, and there was a man who had a fair complexion. 'Amir ibn Rabiah passed by him and said, "I have never seen anything as beautiful as this today, nor have I seen hidden skin." It did not take long for Sahl to urinate, so the Prophet of Allah ﷺ called upon him and said, "Why would any one of you kill his brother? Who have you accused?" They said, "Amir ibn Rabiah." He called Amir and brought a container filled with water. Then, the Prophet ﷺ ordered Amir to wash his face in the water, along with the ends of his hands, knees, and the ends of his feet. The Prophet ﷺ then took the two sides of Amir's loincloth and immersed it in the water, and poured the water onto Sahl's head. He wiped the container from behind, and Sahl was released, without any harm to him.

أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِالْخَرَّارِ دَخَلَ مَاءً يَغْتَسِلُ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا يَضَاءُ فَمَرَّ بِهِ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ فَقَالَ لَمْ أَرَ كَالْيَوْمِ حُسْنَ شَيْءٍ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَمَا لَبِثَ سَهْلٌ أَنْ لُبِطَ فَدَعَا لَهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ مَنْ تَتَّهِمُونَ بِهِ؟» قَالُوا عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ فَدَعَا عَامِرًا وَدَعَا بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ فَأَمَرَ عَامِرًا فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ فِي الْمَاءِ وَأَطْرَافَ يَدَيْهِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَطْرَافَ قَدَمَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ضَبْعَيْ إِزَارِ عَامِرٍ ودَاخِلَتَهُ فَغَمَرَهَا فِي الْمَاءِ ثُمَّ أَفْرَغَ الْإِنَاءَ عَلَى رَأْسِ سَهْلٍ وَأَكْفَأَ الْإِنَاءَ مِنْ دُبُرِهِ فَأَطْلَقَ سَهْلٌ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ

[AI] By Allah, I have never seen her concealed in her garment as she was today. He said: when she washed, she was flat on the ground until she raised her head. It was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: "Are you accusing anyone?" They said: "No, Messenger of Allah, except that 'Amir bin Rabiah said such and such." So he called him and called 'Amir bin Rabiah and said: "Glory be to Allah! How none of you kills his brother? When one of you sees something in him that he likes, let him pray for blessing for him." He said: Then he commanded him, so he washed his face and exposed his cheeks, elbows and wiped his chest, the inside of his waist-wrapper, his knees and the exposed parts of his feet in the water-skin. Then he commanded him, so he poured water on his head and poured it out from behind him. I estimated that he (the Prophet) used a mud (water container) six times, then he commanded him, so he wiped him with two wiping, then he commanded him and he arose and went on with the delegation.

بِاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ مُخَبَّأَةً فِي خِدْرِهَا أَوْ قَالَ فَتَاةً فِي خِدْرِهَا قَالَ فَلُبِطَ بِهِ حَتَّى مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ قَالَ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ أَحَدًا؟» فَقَالُوا لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِلَّا أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ لَهُ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ فَدَعَاهُ وَدَعَا عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فَقَالَ «سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ إِذَا رَأَى مِنْهُ شَيْئًا يُعْجِبُهُ فَلْيَدْعُ لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ» قَالَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَغَسَلَ لَهُ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَظَاهَرَ كَفَّيْهِ وَمِرْفَقَيْهِ وَغَسَلَ صَدْرَهُ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَطْرَافَ قَدَمَيْهِ فِي الْإِنَاءِ ظَاهِرَهُمَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهِ فَصَبَّ عَلَى رَأْسَهِ وَكَفَأَ الْإِنَاءَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ حَسِبْتُهُ قَالَ وَأَمَرَهُ فَحَسَا مِنْهُ حَسَوَاتٍ فَأَمَرَهُ فَقَامَ فَرَاحَ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik that Bakr bin Sahl al-Dimyati narrated from Abdullah bin Yusuf who narrated from Malik who narrated from Ibn Shihab who narrated from Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf that he said: "I saw Amir bin Rabiah Sahl bin Hunayf performing ablution. I swear by Allah, I have never seen anything like it before or since. So Sahl bin Hunayf grabbed him and said: 'Do you accuse anyone?' They said: 'We accuse Amir bin Rabiah.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned Amir bin Rabiah and became angry with him and said: 'Why would one of you kill his brother? Have you not supplicated for blessings for him? Perform ablution for him.' So Amir washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, the edges of his feet, and the inside of his garment in a pot, then poured it onto him. Sahl recovered and did not suffer any harm."

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ رَأَى عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ سَهْلُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ وَاللهِ مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ لَهُ أَحَدًا؟» قَالُوا نَتَّهِمُ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ أَلَا بَرَّكْتَ؟ اغْتَسِلْ لَهُ» فَغَسَلَ لَهُ عَامِرٌ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ وَمِرْفَقَيْهِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَطْرَافَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ فِي قَدَحٍ ثُمَّ صَبَّ عَلَيْهِ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

[AI] Amir ibn Rabee'ah, the brother of Bani Adi ibn Ka'b, saw Sahl ibn Hunayf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Al-Kharrar while he was performing ritual ablution. Amir said, "By Allah, I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, not even hidden scars on his body." Sahl overheard this and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed about it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Do you accuse him of anything?" They replied, "Yes, Amir ibn Rabee'ah passed by him while he was performing ablution and made that statement." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Amir ibn Rabee'ah and expressed his anger towards him, saying, "Why would one of you kill his brother? Shouldn't you have blessed him? Perform ablution for him." So, Amir ibn Rabee'ah performed ablution for Sahl, and Sahl continued his journey with the caravan unharmed.

أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ أَخَا بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَأَى سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ وَهُوَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْخَرَّارِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جَلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ سَهْلٌ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لَكَ وَسَهْلُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ لَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ أَلَا بَرَّكْتَ؟ اغْتَسِلْ لَهُ» فَغَسَلَ لَهُ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

[AI] And by Allah, I have never seen before today a smoother or more hidden skin, so it was stroked by a smooth plain. And the Messenger of Allah came and it was said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you have anything to do with Sahal ibn Hunaif?" And the Messenger of Allah said, "Is anyone accusing him?" They said, "Yes, 'Amir ibn Rabia passed by him while he was taking a ritual bath and he said, 'By Allah, I have never seen before today a smoother or more hidden skin.'" So the Messenger of Allah called 'Amir and became angry with him and said to him, "Why does one of you kill his brother and not cleanse himself for him?" So 'Amir was washed and Sahal continued with the group.

وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ قَطُّ وَلَا جَلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ بِهِ سَهْلٌ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ فَوَاللهِ مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ قَطُّ وَلَا جَلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامِرًا فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ لَهُ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ وَلَا يُبَرِّكُ اغْتَسِلْ لَهُ» فَغَسَلَ عَامِرٌ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ

[AI] So he was slapped, and then the Prophet ﷺ was informed about it. He was asked to catch up with Sohail. He said, "Who are you accusing?" They said, "Aamir ibn Rabee'ah." He said, "Why would any of you kill his brother when he sees something he likes? Let him call for blessing, then order him to perform ablution, wash his face and hands up to the elbows, and his feet up to the ankles, and pour water over him."

أَنْ لُبِطَ بِهِ فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَدْرِكْ سَهْلًا فَقَالَ «مَنْ تَتَّهِمُونَ؟» قَالُوا عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهَ مَنْ رَأَى مَا يُعْجِبُهُ فَلْيَدْعُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ ثُمَّ أَمْرَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيَغْسِلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ وَالرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ»

[AI] "And by Allah, I have never seen a day like today, nor a hidden whip. So, a plain place was flattened, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came. It was said to him, 'Do you have any relationship with Sahl bin Hunayf?' By Allah, he did not raise his head and said, 'Do you accuse him?' They said, 'We accuse Amir ibn Rabee'ah.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Amir and became angry with him. He said, 'How can one of you kill his brother? Did you not bless him? Go and wash for him.' So, Amir washed his face, hands, arms, knees, and the edges of his feet, and the inside of his garment in a vessel, then poured it on him. Then Sahl went with the people, and there was nothing wrong with him."

وَاللهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ فَلُبِطَ سَهْلٌ مَكَانَهُ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقِيلَ لَهُ هَلْ لَكَ فِي سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ؟ وَاللهِ مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ «هَلْ تَتَّهِمُونَ لَهُ أَحَدًا؟» قَالُوا نَتَّهِمُ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامِرًا فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ «عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ أَلَا بَرَّكْتَ فَاغْتَسِلْ لَهُ» فَغَسَلَ لَهُ عَامِرٌ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ وَمِرْفَقَيْهِ وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَطْرَافَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ فِي قَدَحٍ ثُمَّ صَبَّ عَلَيْهِ فَرَاحَ سَهْلٌ مَعَ النَّاسِ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ

[AI] He hid behind it and then came to the Prophet ﷺ. It was said to him, "Catch him before he escapes." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Who do you accuse?" They said, "Amir ibn Rabee'ah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "How can anyone of you kill his brother? If he sees something he likes, he should ask for blessings." He ordered for water to be poured on Harith and to wash his face and hands up to the elbows, and his feet up to the ankles, and to pour water inside his trousers. Then he ordered for the remaining water to be poured on Sa'd's head. He went with the delegation. [89] 9966 Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Yazid informed us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Az-Zuhri, from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl, from his father, that he walked by Aamir and he was performing the ablution similarly. 9967 Ahmed ibn Sulayman informed us, Uthman ibn Abdul Rahman narrated to us, from Jafar, from Az-Zuhri, from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf, from Aamir ibn Rabee'ah, that he saw Sahl ibn Hunayf while he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing ghusl at Jiranah, and he mentioned something similar to it. Abu Abdullah Jafar ibn Burqan said: "Regarding Az-Zuhri, he is weak, but apart from him, there is no problem."

أَنْ لَبِطَ بِهِ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقِيلَ أَدْرِكْ سَهْلًا فَقَالَ «مَنْ تَتَّهِمُونَ؟» قَالُوا عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ «عَلَّامَ يَقْتَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ؟ إِذَا رَأَى مَا يُعْجِبُهُ فَلْيَدْعُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ» وَأَمَرَ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيَغْسِلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ وَالرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ أَنْ يَصُبَّ زَادَ الْحَارِثُ فَرَاحَ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ [89] 9966 أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَامِرًا مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ نَحْوَهُ 9967 أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ وَهُوَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْجِعْرَانَةِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ فِي الزُّهْرِيِّ ضَعِيفٌ وَفِي غَيْرِهِ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ
