"عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ: أَتَى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ بِجَارِيَة سَوْدَاءَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنَّ أُمِّى مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا رَقَبَةٌ مُؤْمنَةٌ فَهَلْ تَجْزِى هَذِه عَنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : أيْنَ الله؟ فَأوْمَأتْ بِرَأسِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ أنَا؟ قَالَتْ: رَسُولُ الله ﷺ قَالَ: أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ".
A man brought the Prophet ﷺ a black slave girl. He said: Messenger of Allah, emancipation of believing slave is due to me. He asked her: Where is Allah ? She pointed to the heaven with her finger. He then asked her: Who am I ? She pointed to the Prophet ﷺ and to the heaven, that is to say: You are the Messenger of Allah. He then said: Set her free, she is a believer.
أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِجَارِيَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عَلَىَّ رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً فَقَالَ لَهَا أَيْنَ اللَّهُ فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ بِأُصْبُعِهَا فَقَالَ لَهَا فَمَنْ أَنَا فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَعْنِي أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ
[Machine] He saw a believing slave woman and asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about her. He said, "I have a black Nubian slave girl, should I free her for her sake?" He said, "Bring her to me." So he called her and she came. He said to her, "Who is your Lord?" She said, "Allah." He said, "Who am I?" She said, "The Messenger of Allah." He said, "Set her free, for she is a believer."
عَنْهَا رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ عِنْدِي جَارِيَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ نُوبِيَّةٌ فَأُعْتِقُهَا عَنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ ائْتِ بِهَا فَدَعَوْتُهَا فَجَاءَتْ فَقَالَ لَهَا مَنْ رَبُّكِ؟ قَالَتْ اللهُ قَالَ مَنْ أَنَا؟ قَالَتْ رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ
"I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'My mother left a will saying that a slave should be freed on her behalf. I have a Nubian slave girl; will it suffice if I free her on her behalf?' He said: 'Bring her here.' The Prophet said to her: 'Who is your Lord?' She said: 'Allah.' He said: 'Who am I?' She said: 'The Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Set her free , for she is a believer.'" يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي أَوْصَتْ أَنْ يُعْتَقَ عَنْهَا رَقَبَةٌ مُؤْمِنَةٌ وَعِنْدِي جَارِيَةٌ نُوبِيَّةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَ ادْعُ بِهَا فَجَاءَ بِهَا فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَنْ رَبُّكِ؟ قَالَتْ اللهُ قَالَ مَنْ أَنَا؟ قَالَتْ أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ
[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my mother has a slave girl, and I have an Abyssinian slave girl. Should I set her free?" He said, "Bring her to me." Then he asked, "Do you bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah?" She replied, "Yes." He said, "Set her free, for she is a believer."
