The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you is afflicted with a calamity, he should say: "We belong to Allah, and to Him we do return." O Allah, I expect reward from Thee from this affliction, so give me reward for it, and give me a better compensation.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَصَابَتْ أَحَدَكُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ فَلْيَقُلْ { إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ } اللَّهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي فَآجِرْنِي فِيهَا وَأَبْدِلْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you is afflicted with a calamity, he should say: "We belong to Allah, and to Him we do return." أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْ أَحَدَكُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ اللهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي فَأْجُرْنِي فِيهَا وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا فَلَمَّا قُبِضَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ خَلَفَنِي اللهُ ﷻ فِي أَهْلِي خَيْرًا مِنْهُ  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "No servant is afflicted with a calamity and says, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. O Allah, I seek reward with You for my calamity and compensation in it, and make it better than before,' except that Allah will reward him for his calamity and compensate him with something better than it."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُصَابُ بِمُصِيبَةٍ فَيَقُولُ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ اللهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي فَأْجُرْنِي فِيهَا وَاعْقُبْنِي مِنْهَا خَيْرًا إِلَّا آجَرَهُ اللهُ فِي مُصِيبَتِهِ فَأَعْقَبَهُ اللهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا»

"إِذَا أصاب أحدَكم مصيبة فليقلْ: إنَّا للهِ وإنا إليه راجعون- اللهم عندك أحتسب مُصيبتى فأجُرنى فيها وأبْدِلنى بها خيرًا مِنْها".  

"مَنْ أَصَابَتْه مُصِيبَةٌ فَلْيقُلْ: إِنَّا للهِ وإِنَّا إِلَيهِ راجعُونَ - اللَّهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ - مُصِيبتِى فَأْجُرْنِى فِيهَا، وأَبْدِلْنِى خَيرًا مِنْهَا".
