"عَجِبَ رَبُّنَا منْ رَجُلَينِ: رَجُلٌ ثَارَ عَنْ وِطائه وَلِحَافِهِ منْ بَين حِبِّه وأَهْلِهِ, إِلى صَلاتِهِ فَيقوُل اللهُ تعالى لملائِكِتِهِ، انْظُروا إِلى عَبْدِي ثَارَ مِنْ وطَائِهِ وَلحَافِهِ مِنْ بَين حِبِّه وأَهْلِهِ إِلى صَلاتِهِ رَغْبَةً فِيمَا عِنْدِي وَشَفقَا مِمَا عِنْدِي ورَجلٌ غَزَا في سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَانْهَزَمَ فَعَلِمَ مَا عَلَيهِ فَرَجَعَ حَتَّى أُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ, فَيَقُولُ الله ﷻ: انْظُرُوا إِلى عَبْدِي رَجَعَ رَغْبَةً فِيمَا عندي وَشَفَقَةً مما عِنْدِي حتَّى أُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ".

[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Our Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, wonders at two men; a man who leaves his bed and blanket and goes from among his family and life to his prayer, saying: 'Our Lord, O my angels, look at my servant who has left his bed and blanket and gone from among his family and life to his prayer, out of desire for what is with Me and out of fear of what is with Me.' And a man who fights in the cause of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, and is defeated, but knows that he has to flee and has no chance of returning, so he returns until he is killed, out of desire for what is with Me and out of fear of what is with Me." And Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says to His angels: 'Look at My servant, who has returned out of desire for what is with Me and out of fear of what is with Me, until his blood is shed.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Our Lord marvels at two men: a man who leaves his bed and his blankets, desiring to pray, and Allah says: 'Look at my servant who has left his comfortable bed and blankets out of his love for Me and his family, desiring what I have and seeking My mercy.' And a man who fights in the cause of Allah, and the people are defeated, and he knows the consequences of defeat and what awaits him if he retreats, yet he returns until his blood is spilled. Then Allah says to His angels: 'Look at My servant who returns with hope in what I have and seeking My mercy, even until his blood is spilled.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Our Lord wonders at two men: a man who leaves his bed and his blanket out of love for his prayer, and Allah, the Exalted, says to His angels, 'Look at My servant who left his bed and his blanket out of love for his prayer, seeking what is with Me and fearing what is with Me.' And a man who fights in the cause of Allah and his companions are defeated, yet he knows what awaits him in defeat and what awaits him in retreat, so he returns until his blood is spilled. And Allah says to His angels, 'Look at My servant who returns with hope in what is with Me and with fear from what is with Me until his blood is spilled.'"

Allah says to His angels: Look at My servant, he becomes angry and separates himself from his loved ones and family to perform his prayers, seeking what is with Me and fearing what is with Me. And a man who fights in the cause of Allah and is defeated, realizing what he faces in defeat and what he has in retreat, yet he returns until his blood is spilled. Allah says: Look at My servant, he returns seeking what is with Me and fearing what is with Me, until his blood is spilled."

So Allah says to His angels: 'Look at My servant who has returned, seeking what is with Me and fearing what is with Me, until his blood is spilled.' And it is narrated in its meaning from Abu Darda as a hadith."
