[Machine] I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man passed by. One of the people said, "O Messenger of Allah, I really love this man." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Did you inform him about this?" The person said no. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Go and inform him." So the person went to the man and said, "O so and so, I swear by Allah that I love you." The man replied, "May the one you love, love you in return." Hammad ibn Salamah disputed this hadith.  

الكبرى للنسائي:٩٩٣٩ – أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُقَيْلٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ وَاقِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا مَرَّ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ قَالَ «هَلْ أَعْلَمْتَهُ بِذَلِكَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «قُمْ فَأَعْلِمْهُ» فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا هَذَا وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ قَالَ أَحَبَّكَ الَّذِي أَحْبَبْتَنِي لَهُ خَالَفَهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ

A man was with the Prophet ﷺ and a man passed by him and said: Messenger of Allah! I love this man. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then asked: Have you informed him? He replied: No. He said: Inform him. " عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ حَبِيب بْنِ سُبَيْعَةَ الضَّبْعِى، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ: أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ جَالِسًا عنْدَ النَّبِىِّ ﷺ ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنِّى أُحِبُّهُ فِى الله. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : أَعْلَمْتَهُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: لَا. قَالَ: فَاذْهَبْ فَأَعْلِمْهُ، فَذَهَبَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: إِنِّى أُحِبُّكَ فِى الله، فَقَالَ: أَحَبَّكَ الَّذِى أَحْبَبْتَنِى لَهُ".
