On the day of the Conquest of Mecca, when the Prophet ﷺ had given (from the booty) the Quraish, the Ansar said, "By Allah, this is indeed very strange: While our swords are still dribbling with the blood of Quraish, our war booty are distributed amongst them." When this news reached the Prophet ﷺ he called the Ansar and said, "What is this news that has reached me from you?" They used not to tell lies, so they replied, "What has reached you is true." He said, "Doesn't it please you that the people take the booty to their homes and you take Messenger of Allah ﷺ to your homes? If the Ansar took their way through a valley or a mountain pass, I would take the Ansar's valley or a mountain pass."  

قَالَتِ الأَنْصَارُ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ وَأَعْطَى قُرَيْشًا وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْعَجَبُ إِنَّ سُيُوفَنَا تَقْطُرُ مِنْ دِمَاءِ قُرَيْشٍ وَغَنَائِمُنَا تُرَدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَدَعَا الأَنْصَارَ قَالَ فَقَالَ مَا الَّذِي بَلَغَنِي عَنْكُمْ وَكَانُوا لاَ يَكْذِبُونَ فَقَالُوا هُوَ الَّذِي بَلَغَكَ قَالَ أَوَلاَ تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ النَّاسُ بِالْغَنَائِمِ إِلَى بُيُوتِهِمْ وَتَرْجِعُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَوْ سَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ وَادِيًا أَوْ شِعْبًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَهُمْ  

The Prophet ﷺ gathered some people of Ansar and said, "The People of Quraish are still close to their Pre-lslamic period of ignorance and have suffered a lot, and I want to help them and attract their hearts (by giving them the war booty). Won't you be pleased that the people take the worldly things) and you take Messenger of Allah ﷺ with you to your homes?" They said, "Yes, (i.e. we are pleased with this distribution)." The Prophet ﷺ said, "'If the people took their way through a valley and the Ansar took their way through a mountain pass, then I would take the Ansar's valley or the Ansar's mountain pass."  

جَمَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ نَاسًا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَمُصِيبَةٍ وَإِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَجْبُرَهُمْ وَأَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَرْجِعُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَ الأَنْصَارِ  

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered a group of people from the Ansar and said: "Come, is there anyone among you who is from other than you?" They said: "No, except the son of a sister of ours." So he said: "The son of the sister of a people is from them." Then he said: "Indeed the Quraish is not far from their time of ignorance and affliction, and I wished that I subdue them and coax them. Are you not happy that the people return with this world and you return to your homes with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" They said: "Of course we are." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If the people were to pass through a valley or a path, and the Ansar passed through a valley or a path then I would pass through the valley or path of the Ansar."  

جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَاسًا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ هَلُمَّ هَلْ فِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ قَالُوا لاَ إِلاَّ ابْنَ أُخْتٍ لَنَا فَقَالَ ﷺ إِنَّ ابْنَ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا حَدِيثٌ عَهْدُهُمْ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَمُصِيبَةٍ وَإِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَجْبُرَهُمْ وَأَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَرْجِعُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا أَوْ شِعْبًا وَسَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ وَادِيًا أَوْ شِعْبًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَهُمْ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ gave from the spoils of Hunayn to Uyaynah, Al-Aqra', and others, so the Ansar said, "Will he give away our spoils, while our swords are still dripping with their blood or their blood is still dripping from our swords?" When the Prophet ﷺ learned of this, he called the Ansar and said, "O people of the Ansar, would you not be pleased if the people took worldly possessions and you took Muhammad to your homes?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if the people were to go down one valley and the Ansar were to go down another, I would go down the valley of the Ansar. The Ansar are my support and my refuge. If it were not for the migration, I would have been from the Ansar."  

أَعْطَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ غَنَائِمِ حُنَيْنٍ عُيَيْنَةَ وَالْأَقْرَعَ وَغَيْرَهُمَا فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ أَيُعْطِي غَنَائِمَنَا مَنْ تَقْطُرُ سُيُوفُنَا مِنْ دِمَائِهِمْ أَوْ تَقْطُرُ دِمَاؤُهُمْ مِنْ سُيُوفِنَا فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَدَعَا الْأَنْصَارَ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ إِلَى دِيَارِكُمْ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لَسَلَكْتُ شِعْبَ الْأَنْصَارِ الْأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَلَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَالْأَنْصَارِ  

When Mecca was conquered, he (the Holy Prophet) distributed the spoils among the Quraish. Upon this the Ansar said: It is strange that our swords are dripping with their blood, whereas our spoils have been given to them (to the Quraish). This (remark) reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and so he gathered them and said: What is this that has been conveyed to me about you? They said: (Yes) it is that very thing that, has reached you and they were not (the people) to speak a lie. Upon this he said: Don't you like that the people should return to their houses along with worldly riches, whereas you should return to your houses with the Messenger of Allah? If the people were to tread a valley or a narrow path, and the Ansar were also to tread a valley or a narrow path, I would tread the valley (along with the) Ansar or the narrow path (along with the) Ansar. قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ «إِنَّ سُيُوفَنَا تَقْطُرُ مِنْ دِمَاءِ قُرَيْشٍ وَيَذْهَبُ هَؤُلَاءِ بِالْغَنَائِمِ خَاصَّةً» فَقَالَ «مَا الَّذِي بَلَغَنِي عَنْكُمْ؟» وَكَانُوا لَا يَكْذِبُونَ قَالَ «هُوَ الَّذِي بَلَغَكَ» فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ بِالْغَنَائِمِ إِلَى بُيُوتِهِمْ وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ؟» قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ سَلَكَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ وَادِيًا أَوْ شِعْبًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَهُمْ»
