“I heard a man asking Zaid bin Arqam: ‘Were you present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when there were two ‘Eid on one day?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘What did he do?’ He said: ‘He prayed the ‘Eid prayer, then he granted a concession not to pray the Friday, then he said: “Whoever wants to pray (Friday), let him do so.”’”

ابن ماجة:١٣١٠ – حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيِّ قَالَ

Rukhsah (excuse) for praying Jumuah when Eid falls on a Friday

abudawud:1070 – Muḥammad b. Kathīr > Isrāʾīl > ʿUthmān b. al-Mughīrah > Iyās b. Abū Ramlah al-Shāmī

I witnessed Muawiyah b. Abu Sufyan asking Zayd b. Arqam: Did you offer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Friday and Eid prayers happening on the same day? He said: Yes. He asked: How did he do it? He replied: He offered the Eid prayer and granted a concession ˹to the people˺ to offer the Friday prayer, and said: "If anyone wants to pray it, he may pray."

أبو داود:١٠٧٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيِّ قَالَ

"I heard Mu'awiyah asking Zaid bin Arqam: 'Did you attend two 'Eids with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said: 'Yes; he prayed 'Eid at the beginning of the day then he granted a concession with regard to jumu'ah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1591)

Ilyas ibn AbuRamlah ash-Shami said: I witnessed Mu'awiyah ibn AbuSufyan asking Zayd ibn Arqam: Did you offer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Friday and 'Id prayers synchronised on the same day? He said: Yes. He asked: How did he do? He replied: He offered the 'Id prayer, then granted concession to offer the Friday prayer, and said: If anyone wants to offer it, he may offer. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ صحيح

إِيَاسُ بْنُ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيُّ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ

[Machine] I witnessed Muawiyah asking Zaid ibn Arqam, "Did you witness two Eids being performed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in one day?" He replied, "Yes." Muawiyah asked, "How did he do it?" He said, "He offered the Eid prayer, then he gave permission for the Friday prayer saying, 'Whoever wishes to offer the prayer may do so.'" In another narration by Ubaidullah, I heard Muawiyah saying, "In one day." The rest is the same.

البيهقي:٦٢٨٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ أنبأ ابْنُ دَرَسْتَوَيْهِ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى أنبأ إِسْرَائِيلُ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيِّ قَالَ
