[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever loves this world will harm his hereafter, and whoever loves his hereafter will harm his world, so prioritize what remains over what diminishes."
"Do not take to the estate, such that you become desirous of the world." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2328)
When one of you looks at one who stands at a higher level than you in regard to wealth and physical structure he should also see one who stands at a lower level than you in regard to these things (in which he stands) at a higher level (as compared to him). (Using translation from Muslim 2963a)
When one of you looks at one who stands at a higher level than you in regard to wealth and physical structure he should also see one who stands at a lower level than you in regard to these things (in which he stands) at a higher level (as compared to him). (Using translation from Muslim 2963a)
“Look at those who are beneath you and do not look at those who are above you, for it is more suitable that you should not consider as less the blessing of Allah.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4142)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you sees someone above him in wealth and status, he should look at someone below him in wealth and status."
[Machine] She said, "The pain of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has intensified and he has seven or nine dinars with him." I said, "What about that gold?" He said, "Give it in charity." She said, "So I was occupied with it." Then he said, "O Aisha, what happened to that gold?" I said, "I still have it." He said, "Bring it to me." She said, "So I brought it to him and he placed it in his hand and then said, 'What does Muhammad think if he were to meet Allah with this in his possession? What does Muhammad think if he were to meet Allah with this in his possession?'"
"Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2559)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The strong person is not the one who can overpower others, rather the strong person is the one who can control their own desires."
The Paradise is surrounded by hardships and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations. (Using translation from Muslim 2822)
The Paradise is surrounded by hardships and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations. (Using translation from Muslim 2822)

While we were in the company of the Prophet ﷺ in a cave at Mina, when Surat-wal-Mursalat were revealed and he recited it and I heard it (directly) from his mouth as soon as he recited its revelation. Suddenly a snake sprang at us and the Prophet ﷺ said (ordered us): "Kill it." We ran to kill it but it escaped quickly. The Prophet ﷺ said, "It has escaped your evil and you too have escaped its evil." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1830)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man bought a property from another man, and he found a jar of gold in the property he bought. The buyer said to the seller, 'Take your gold from me, for I have only bought land from you and have not purchased gold from you.' The one who sold the land said, 'I have sold you the land and everything in it.' They both went to a man to arbitrate their dispute. The man asked them, 'Do you both have children?' One of them said, 'Yes, a boy.' The other one said, 'Yes, a girl.' The arbitrator said, 'Marry the boy to the girl and spend on both of them and be charitable.'"
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: What is lawful is clear and what is unlawful is clear, but between them are certain doubtful things. I give you an example for this. Allah has a preserve, and Allah's preserve is the things He has declared unlawful. He who pastures (his animals) round the preserve will soon fall into it. He who falls into doubtful things will soon be courageous. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3329)

[Machine] Tell me something you have memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that no one has told you about. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Leave what gives you doubt for what does not give you doubt.' He said, 'Goodness brings tranquility, while evil brings doubt.' The Prophet ﷺ was once given a piece of date as charity, so I took a date and threw it in my mouth, then he took it back from my saliva and put it back with the dates. It was said to him, 'O Messenger of Allah, why did you take back this date from this child?' He said, 'Indeed, we, the family of Muhammad, are not allowed to take charity.' I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicating with this prayer, 'O Allah, guide us among those whom You have guided, and grant us well-being among those whom You have granted well-being, and take us as Your guardians among those whom You have taken as Your guardians, and bless us in what You have given us, and protect us from the evil that You have decreed, for You do decree and none can decree upon You. Indeed, he whom You have taken as a guardian will never be disgraced. Blessed and exalted are You.'"

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ encountered a Bedouin and honored him. He said to the Bedouin, "Come to us." So he went to him and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Ask for what you need." The Bedouin said, "I want a camel to ride and a she-camel to milk for my family." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "Couldn't you be like an old woman from the Children of Israel?" They asked, "Who is the old woman from the Children of Israel?" He said, "When Moses ﷺ was leading the Children of Israel out of Egypt, they lost their way. Moses asked, 'What is this?' Their scholars said, 'When the death of Joseph ﷺ approached, he made us swear an oath by Allah that we would not leave Egypt without taking his bones with us.' Moses then asked, 'Who knows the location of his grave?' They said, 'An old woman from the Children of Israel knows.' So he sent for her and she came to him. He asked her to show him the grave of Joseph. She replied, 'I will only do so if you promise that I will be with you in Paradise.' Moses disliked giving her that promise, so Allah revealed to him to fulfill her request. They then set out with her until they reached a lake of stagnant water. She said, 'Dry up this water.' So they dried it up. She then said, 'Dig a hole.' So they dug a hole and extracted the bones of Joseph. When they placed the bones on the ground, suddenly the road became bright as daylight."

The Bedouins would say: These people are insane. But when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he would say, "If you knew what you have with Allah, you would have loved to increase your poverty and need."

I went to Ubayy b. Ka’b and said him : I am confused about Divine decree, so tell me something by means of which Allah may remove the confusion from my mind. He replied : were Allah to punish everyone in the heavens and in the earth. He would do so without being unjust to them, and were he to show mercy to them his mercy would be much better than their actions merited. Were you to spend in support of Allah’s cause an amount of gold equivalent to Uhud, Allah would not accept it from you till you believed in divine decree and knew that what has come to you could not miss you and that what has missed you could not come to you. Were you to die believing anything else you would enter Hell. He said : I then went to ‘Abd Allah b. MAs’ud and he said something to the same effect. I next went to Hudhaifah b. al-Yaman and he said something to the same effect. I next went to Zaid b. Thabit who told me something from the Prophet (May peace be upon him) to the same effect. [Machine] The family of Muhammad (pbuh) used to live for three months without kindling a fire in which they would have nothing to burn except water and dates. Around us were families from the Ansar (helpers) who had chickens in their courtyards. 7.7 [Machine] The reading of the Quran
[Machine] On the authority of Jundub ibn Abdullah, who narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Read the Quran as long as your hearts are in agreement with it. But if you disagree regarding its interpretation, then step away from it."
[Machine] It is narrated that the Prophet ﷺ passed by Abu Bakr while he was praying, and he lowered his voice. He also passed by Umar while he was praying, and he raised his voice. When they both came to the Prophet ﷺ , he said to Abu Bakr, "O Abu Bakr, I passed by you while you were praying and you were lowering your voice." Abu Bakr replied, "I have heard those whom I was whispering to." The Prophet ﷺ then said to Umar, "And I passed by you, O Umar, while you were raising your voice." Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, I was waking up the sleepers and encouraging them." The Prophet ﷺ then said to Abu Bakr, "Raise your voice a little." He also said to Umar, "Lower your voice a little."

He said, 'Yes, indeed. Gabriel and Michael came to me. Gabriel sat on my right and Michael on my left. Gabriel said, 'O Muhammad, recite the Quran with precision.' Michael said, 'Increase in it.' [Machine] That Gabriel ﷺ came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was with the Abbasids and said, "O Muhammad, indeed Allah commands you to recite this Quran to your Ummah on one letter." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "I ask Allah for His forgiveness and mercy, or His assistance and mercy. Ask Him for them to be relieved, as they will not be able to bear that." Then Gabriel left and came back again, saying, "Indeed, Allah commands you to recite this Quran to your Ummah on two letters." The Prophet ﷺ responded with the same answer. Then Gabriel left and returned once more, saying, "Indeed, Allah commands you to recite this Quran to your Ummah on three letters." And the Prophet ﷺ gave the same response. Then Gabriel left and returned again, saying, "Indeed, Allah commands you to recite this Quran to your Ummah on seven letters. Whoever recites a letter from it, they will receive the reward of reciting it."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There will come a time after sixty years where people will neglect prayer and follow their desires, and they will face misguidance. Then there will come a generation who will recite the Quran, but their actions will not surpass its surface. There will be three types of people among them: a believer, a hypocrite, and a wicked person." Bashir asked, "Who are these three?" The reply was, "The hypocrite disbelieves in it (the Quran), the wicked person utilizes it (for his own gain), and the believer has faith in it."

[Machine] I gathered the Quran and read it in one night. The Prophet ﷺ was informed about this, and he said, "Read it every month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He then said, "Read it every twenty days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He replied, "Read it every ten days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." He then said, "Read it every seven days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and youth." However, he refused.

[Machine] "I was sitting in the mosque when a man entered and recited a verse that I disliked. Then another man entered and recited a different verse than his companion. After completing the prayer, they both went to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, this man recited a verse that I disliked, and the other one recited a different verse than his companion.' The Prophet ﷺ told them, 'Recite.' So they recited, and he said, 'You both did well, or he said, 'You both did correctly.' When the one whom the Prophet ﷺ had spoken to heard this, he felt proud, and when the Prophet ﷺ saw what happened to him, he hit his chest. It was as if I was seeing my Lord with a gap. The Prophet ﷺ then said, 'O Ubayy, my Lord has sent me with the command to recite the Quran in a certain way. I initially pleaded with Him to make it easier upon my Ummah, but He insisted that I recite it in seven different ways. For every recitation, I will be rewarded individually on the Day of Resurrection.' I said, 'O Allah, forgive my Ummah.' Then I postponed the second recitation until a day when creation will express their desire for it, even if it means delaying it until the Day of Judgment."

I heard Hisham b. Hakim (b. Hizam) reciting Surah al-Furqan in a different manner from my way of reciting, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taught me to recite it. I nearly spoke sharply to him, but I delayed till he had finished. Then I caught his cloak at the neck, and I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah, I heard this man reciting Surah al-Furqan in a manner different from that in which you taught me to recite it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ the told him to recite it. He then recited in the manner I heard him recite. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Thus was it sent down. He then said to me: Recite, I recited (it). He then said: Thus was it sent down. He said: The Qur'an was sent down in seven modes of reading, so recite according to what comes most easily. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1475)
