Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Recite (of the Qur'an) for me," I said, "Shall I recite it to you although it had been revealed to you?" He said, "I like to hear (the Qur'an) from others." So I recited Surat-an- Nisa' till I reached: "How (will it be) then when We bring from each nation a witness, and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people?" (4.41) Then he said, "Stop!" And behold, his eyes were overflowing with tears."

لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ قُلْتُ آقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى بَلَغْتُ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ شَهِيدًا} قَالَ أَمْسِكْ فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ

That the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Recite the Qur'an to me." ʿAbdullah said, "Shall I recite (the Qur'an) to you while it has been revealed to you?" He said, "I like to hear it from others."

لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ الْقُرْآنَ قُلْتُ آقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي

The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Recite Qur'an to me." I said to him. "Shall I recite (it) to you while it has been revealed to you?" He said, "I like to hear it from another person."

لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ قُلْتُ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي

The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon (him) asked me to recite the Qur'an. He said: Messenger of Allah, (how) should I recite to you whereas it has been sent down to you? He (the Holy Prophet) said: I desire to hear it from someone else. So I recited Surat al-Nisa' till I reached the verse: How then shall it be when We shall bring from every people a witness and bring you against them as a witness?" (verse 41). I lifted my head or a person touched me in my side, and so I lifted my head and saw his tears falling (from the Holy Prophet's eyes).

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ الْقُرْآنَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ إِنِّي أَشْتَهِي أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي فَقَرَأْتُ النِّسَاءَ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ { فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ شَهِيدًا} رَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي أَوْ غَمَزَنِي رَجُلٌ إِلَى جَنْبِي فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي فَرَأَيْتُ دُمُوعَهُ تَسِيلُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: recite Surat al-Nisa’. I asked: Shall I recite to you what was sent down to you? He replied: I like to here it from someone else. So I recited (it) until I reached this verse “How then shall it be when We bring from every people a witness?”. Then I raised my head and saw tears falling from his eyes.

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي قَالَ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ { فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ } الآيَةَ فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَهْمِلاَنِ

from 'Abidah that 'Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'Recite for me.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Shall I recite for you while it is to you whom it was revealed?' He said: 'I love to hear it from other than me.'" So I recited Surat An-Nisa until I reached: "...And We bring you (Muhammad) as a witness against these people? (4:41)" He said: "So I saw the eyes of the Prophet ﷺ overflowing with tears."

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ قَالَ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي فَقَرَأْتُ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ (جِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ شَهِيدًا ) قَالَ فَرَأَيْتُ عَيْنَىِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَهْمِلاَنِ

Abu Bakr and 'Umar gave him the glad tidings that the Messenger of Allah had said: "Whoever would like to recite the Qur'an as fresh as when it was revealed, let him recite it like Ibn Umm 'Abd.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ غَضًّا كَمَا أُنْزِلَ فَلْيَقْرَأْهُ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ

ʿWhoever would like to recite the Qur'an fresh as it was revealed, let him recite it according to the recitation of Ibn Umm 'Abd.ʿ Umar bin al-Khattab narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said... a similar report, in which he said: crisp or fresh.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ غَضًّا كَمَا أُنْزِلَ فَلْيَقْرَأْهُ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Recite Qur'an to me." I said to him. "Shall I recite (it) to you while it has been revealed to you?" He said, "I like to hear it from another person." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5056)

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ؟ قَالَ إِنَّنِي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي فَقَرَأْتُ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَابِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} [النساء 41] قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَيْنَيْهِ تَذْرِفَانِ دُمُوعًا

[AI] "To me, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Recite the Quran to me.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, how can I recite it to you when it was revealed upon you?' He said, 'I desire to hear it from someone other than myself.' So I began reciting Surah An-Nisa to him, and when I reached the verse 'So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness?' [Quran 4:41] He looked at me and his eyes were filled with tears."

قَالَ قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى بَلَغْتُ { فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا } قَالَ فَفَاضَتْ عَيْنَاهُ وَقَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ غَضًّا كَمَا أُنْزِلَ فَلْيَقْرَأْهُ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يقرأ القرآن غضا كما أنزل فليقرأه على قراءة ابن أم عبد

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ «اقْرَأْ عَلَيْنَا» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَإِنَّمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ «إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي» فَقَرَأْتُ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَّغْتُ قَوْلَهُ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} [النساء 41] غَمَزَنِي فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تُهْرَاقَانِ

That the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Recite the Qur'an to me." ʿAbdullah said, "Shall I recite (the Qur'an) to you while it has been revealed to you?" He said, "I like to hear it from others." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5049)

"اقرأ عَلَيَّ القُرآن. قال: يا رسولَ الله أقْرَأ عَلَيكَ، وعليك أُنْزِل؟ ، قال: إني أشْتَهِى أنْ أسْمَعَهُ مِن غَيرِى ".

"مَنْ أَحبَّ أَنْ يقْرأَ الْقُرْآنَ غَضًا كَما أُنْزِل فَليقْرأهُ علَى قِراءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عبْد".

"منْ أَراد أَنْ يقْرأَ القرَآنَ غضًّا كَما أُنْزِلَ فَلْيقْرأه كَما يقْرأُهُ ابنُ أُمِّ عبْدٍ".

"مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَن يَقْرَأَ الْقرْآن غَضّا كَمَا أُنْزلَ فَلْيَقْرَأهُ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ".

"مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرَآنَ رَطْبًا كَمَا أُنْزل، فَلْيَقْرَأهُ عَلَى قِراءَةِ ابنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ".
