40. Book of Drinks (2/3)
I was serving drink to Abu 'Ubaida b. jarrah, Abu Talha and Ubayy b. Ka'b prepared from unripe dates and fresh dates when a visitor came and he said: Verily liquor has been prohibited. Thereupon, Abu Talha said: Anas, stand up and break this pitcher. I stool up and (took hold) of a pointed stone and struck the pitcher with its lower part until it broke into pieces. (Using translation from Muslim 1980g)
[Machine] About the green vine, white vine, and red vine, he said: The first ones to ask the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم about them were the delegation of Abd al-Qays. He said, "Do not drink in the hollowed stump, the pitcher, and the hollow of a tree, and do drink in vessels (other than those)." They said, "What if the beverage becomes scarce in the vessels?" He said, "Then pour water over it." They said, "What if the beverage becomes scarce?" He said, "Then pour it out." Then he said, "Indeed, Allah Almighty has made haram for me or made haram wine, gambling, a hollow vessel, and every intoxicant."

Every intoxicant is Khamr and every intoxicant is forbidden. He who drinks wine in this world and dies while he is addicted to it, not having repented, will not be given a drink in the Hereafter. (Using translation from Muslim 2003a)

[Machine] From Umm Habiba, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, it is narrated that a group of people from Yemen came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He taught them about prayer, the prophetic traditions, and the obligatory acts. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have a drink that we make from wheat and barley." He ﷺ asked, "Is it Ghubayra?" They said, "Yes." He ﷺ replied, "Do not consume it." After two days, when they mentioned it to him again, he asked, "Is it Ghubayra?" They said, "Yes." He ﷺ said, "Do not consume it." When they were about to leave, they asked him about it and he said, "Is it Ghubayra?" They said, "Yes." He ﷺ replied, "Do not consume it."

Give good tidings to the (people). and make things easy (for them), teach (them), and do not repel (them) ; and I think he also said: Cooperate cheerfully with each other. When he (the Holy Prophet) turned his back, Abu Musa returned to him and said: Messenger of Allah, they (the people of Yemen) have a drink which is (made) from honey and which is prepared by cooking it until it coagulates, and Mizr is prepared from barley, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Every intoxicant that detains you from prayer is forbidden. [Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me and Mu'adh bin Jabal to Yemen, he commanded us to stay close to our companions. He said to us, "Make things easy for people and do not make them difficult. Give them glad tidings and do not repel them." So, when we stood up to leave, we said, "O Messenger of Allah, guide us regarding two things which we used to do in ignorance: we used to make a drink from honey and let it ferment until it became strong and intoxicating, and we used to prepare a drink from barley and corn and let it ferment until it became strong and intoxicating." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had been granted the comprehensive understanding of everything and was well aware of its final outcome. He replied, "Every intoxicating drink is unlawful. Allah has cursed it, its maker, its server, its seller, its consumer, its squeezer, its pourer, and the one for whom it is squeezed, its carrier, and the one to whom it is carried." Then Mu'adh said to me (Abdullah bin Mas'ud): "One day, a man who had previously been a Jew came to me. I invited him to Islam, and he became a Muslim. He then reverted back to his previous religion and started ridiculing and mocking Islam. I said to him, 'Leave, for I will mention your situation to the Prophet ﷺ and convey his verdict to you.' He said, 'Do so.' So, I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned the man's case to him. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Bring him back.' I brought him back after the Prophet ﷺ had prayed the Asr prayer. The Prophet ﷺ was still sitting in his place and said, 'What do you say?' The man replied, 'I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that you are His Messenger.' The Prophet ﷺ ordered him to be killed, and he was killed. Then Mu'adh asked me (Abdullah bin Mas'ud), 'How do you recite the Qur'an?' I replied, 'I recite it standing, sitting, and lying down, and I excel in my recitation.' Mu'adh asked, 'How do you recite it?' He replied, 'I recite it while in a state of sleep, then I stand during my sleep, and then I wake up and strengthen myself with sleep like I strengthen myself with my standing.'

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade mixing of raisins and dried dates: and unripe dates and fresh dates. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3703)

Anas b. Malik is reported to have said that Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden to mixture fresh dates and unripe dates and then drinking (the wine prepared out of it), and that was their common intoxicant when liquor was prohibited. (Using translation from Muslim 1981)

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Every intoxicant is forbidden; if a faraq of anything causes intoxication, a handful of it is forbidden. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3687)

Then they asked him about coloring. Ibn Abbas said, 'What is this coloring that you are asking about?' They said, 'This is grapes that are cooked and put into the container.' He said, 'What is the container?' They said, 'It is a small clay pot.' He said, 'Does it intoxicate?' They said, 'When there is more of it, it intoxicates.' He said, 'Then every intoxicant is forbidden.' Then they asked him about wine. He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on a journey and returned, and some of his companions had prepared wine in leather skins, gourds, and pitchers. He ordered them to pour it out, and he ordered a ditch to be dug, and it was poured into it along with raisins and water. So he used to leave it overnight and drink from it during his day and night, until the next day, and from the morning until the evening, and when the next day came, he would pour out whatever was left.'"

Dates were steeped for the Apostel of Allah ﷺ in skin which was tied up at the top and had a mouth. What was steeped in the morning he would drink in the evening and what was steeped in the evening he would drink in the morning. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3711)
[Machine] About wine, the Prophet ﷺ said, "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ went on a journey, and upon his return, some of his companions had prepared wine in date-palm containers, camel saddles, and waterskins. He commanded that it be poured out. Then he ordered for a drinking vessel to be brought and he put some raisins and water in it.
