[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ purchased a horse from Sawwah ibn al-Harith al-Muharibi, but he denied it. Khuzaymah ibn Thabit testified for him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "What made you give witness for him, despite not being present?" He said, "You have spoken the truth, O Messenger of Allah, but I believed you based on what you said, and I know that you do not speak anything except the truth." Then he said, "Whoever testifies for him and I testify against him, it will be sufficient for him."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ ابْتَاعَ مِنْ سَوَاءَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ فَرَسًا فَجَحَدَهُ فَشَهِدَ لَهُ خُزَيْمَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى الشَّهَادَةِ وَلَمْ تَكُنْ مَعَهُ؟» قَالَ صَدَقْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنْ صَدَّقْتُكَ بِمَا قُلْتَ وَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّكَ لَا تَقُولُ إِلَّا حَقًّا فَقَالَ «مَنْ شَهِدَ لَهُ خُزَيْمَةُ وَأَشْهَدَ عَلَيْهِ فَحَسْبُهُ»

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ bought a horse from Sawaa Ibn Al-Haarith, but Sawaa denied it. Khuzaymah Ibn Thabit testified in favor of the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Khuzaymah, "What made you testify without being present?" Khuzaymah replied, "I believed you when you came with it and I knew that you do not speak except the truth." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever testifies for him or against him, it is sufficient."

He replied, "You spoke the truth, O Messenger of Allah, but I believed you and I knew that you do not speak except the truth." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Whoever testifies for or against someone, his testimony is sufficient." Al-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "If it were definite, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not have given his pledge without clear evidence."

السيوطي:٣٢٢-١١b –

"عَنْ خُزَيْمةَ بنِ ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ اشْتَرَى فَرَسًا مِنْ سَوَاءِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ المحازمىِّ فَجَحَدَ، فَشَهِدَ خُزَيْمةُ بنُ ثَابتٍ، فَقَالَ له رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى الشَّهَادَة، وَلَمْ تَكُنْ مَعَنَا حَاضِرًا؟ قَالَ: صَدَّقْتُكَ بِمَا جِئْتَ به وَعَلِمْتُ أَنّكَ لَا تَقُولُ إِلَّا حَقّا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : مَنْ شَهِدَ لَهُ خُزَيْمَةُ، أَوْ شَهِدَ عَلَيْه فَحَسْبُهُ".
