29. Book of Food (3/3)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever feeds his brother bread until he is full and gives him water until he is satisfied, Allah will distance him from the Hellfire by seven trenches, each as far as the distance between two trenches, which is equivalent to a journey of five hundred years."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The expiations are feeding others, spreading peace, praying at night when people are asleep."
[Machine] I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, inform me about an action that, if I do it, will enter me into paradise?" He said, "Spread peace, feed others, maintain family ties, pray at night while people are asleep, and enter Paradise in peace."
[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it was narrated that he said, "Whosoever earns money from lawful means, and feeds themselves and clothes themselves, then they have given zakat to the creatures of Allah other than themselves." (Sahih)
A man came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I am suffering from fatigue and hunger." The Prophet ﷺ sent (somebody) to his wives (to get something), but the messenger found nothing with them. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said (to his companions). "Isn't there anybody who can entertain this man tonight so that Allah may be merciful to him?" An Ansari man got up and said, "I (will, entertain him), O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!" So he went to his wife and said to her, "This is the guest of Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so do not keep anything away from him." She said. "By Allah, I have nothing but the children's food." He said, "When the children ask for their dinner, put them to bed and put out the light; we shall not take our meals tonight," She did so. In the morning the Ansari man went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "Allah was pleased with (or He bestowed His Mercy) on so-and-so and his wife (because of their good deed)." Then Allah revealed: 'But give them preference over themselves even though they were in need of that.' (59.9) (Using translation from Bukhārī 4889)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When any one of you buys meat, increase its soup (stock). If any one of you does not have meat, let him hit (by spoon) the soup which is one of the meat."
[Machine] "Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: 'Whoever comes to a group of people as a guest and then is denied hospitality, it becomes the duty of every Muslim to support him until he finds accommodation for the night, from their produce and wealth.'" (Authentic Hadith)
"When you come to a shepherd, call him three times. If he answers (all well and good), otherwise drink (milk from the flock) without taking advantage. And when you come to a garden call the owner of the garden three times. If he answers (all well and good), otherwise eat (from the produce of the garden) without taking advantage." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2300)
[Machine] About Umair, the Mawla (freed slave) of Abu Lahm, Umair was the Mawla of Bani Ghifarah. He said, "I accompanied my masters when we wanted to migrate. When we approached the city, they left me behind and entered the city. I was afflicted with severe hunger. Then, someone from the people of the city passed by me and said, 'If you enter one of the walls of the city, you will find dates there.' So, I entered a wall and found a palm tree, from which I cut two clusters of dates. At that moment, the owner of the wall came out with me until he brought me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger asked me about my situation, and I informed him. He asked, 'Which one is better?' So, I pointed to one of them. He commanded me to take it and ordered the owner of the wall to take the other one, and he let me go."
[Machine] We were struck by famine, so I went to the city and entered one of its walls. I took a handful of grain, rubbed it, ate from it, and put some in my garment. The owner of the wall came and struck me and took my garment. So, I went to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Did you not know that if you were ignorant, you shouldn't have eaten from it? And if you were in need, you should have asked, and I would have provided for you." He returned my garment and ordered for me to be given half a sa' or a sa' of food.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with Banu Amro bin Awf on Wednesday and saw something he had not seen before from his fortress on the palm trees. He said, "If you were to stay at your Eid until you hear from me." They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, we will, as our fathers and mothers did." He prayed the Friday prayer with them on Friday, then he prayed two Rak'ahs in the mosque. He used to go to his house before that day, then he stood up and faced the people, and the Ansar or those among them followed him until they went with him. He said, "O gathering of the Ansar!" They said, "At your service, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "You were in ignorance when you did not worship Allah alone, but rather, you carried idols and did good in your wealth and provided for the wayfarer, until Allah bestowed Islam upon you and His Prophet upon you. Now, you safeguard your wealth and the food that a human being eats carries rewards, and the food that a wolf or a bird eats carries rewards." So the people returned, and each one of them destroyed thirty doors from his garden.

[Machine] His father heard him saying, "O Messenger of Allah, we find camels that have milk while they are pregnant, and we are in need." He (the Prophet) said, "Call the owner of the camel three times, if he comes, then milk it, otherwise, let it relax and drink its milk, and untie its udders, then tighten them again, and leave the milk for its young ones." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.
