13. Book of Fasting (4/6)
On the authority of his father 'Asim: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave permission to the herdsmen of the camels not to pass night at Mina and asked them to throw pebbles on the day of sacrifice, and to throw pebbles at the jamrahs the next day and the following two days, and on the day of their return. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1975)
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the Asr prayer with two Raka'at (units) while sitting."
[Machine] Aisha used to say that it is amazing for a Muslim when he enters the Kaaba that he raises his gaze towards the ceiling, as a sign of reverence and magnification for Allah. "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Kaaba and his gaze did not leave the place of his prostration until he left it."
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out delighted, then he came back to me sad. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, (why did) you go out happy and come back sad?’ He said: ‘I entered the Ka’bah, and I wish that I had not done that, because I am afraid that I may have caused difficulty for my nation after I am gone.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3064)
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ entered the house, and when he came out, he performed two raka'ahs (units of prayer) facing the direction of the house and said, 'This is the qibla (direction of prayer).'"
[Machine] To Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Aisha, if it were not for the fact that your people have recent memories of ignorance, I would have demolished the Kaaba and rebuilt it on the foundation that was laid by Ibrahim (Abraham). For they were unable to afford the expenses of its rebuilding, and I would have added two doors to it, one facing east and one facing west, and I would have attached it to the ground, unlike its current construction." Ibn Zubayr called for the demolition and construction of the Kaaba, and Yazid bin Ruman witnessed its demolition. He extracted the foundation of the Kaaba like disconnected blocks and I asked Yazid bin Ruman, while I was walking with him, to show me what they had taken out from the Kaaba's structure. He said, "I will show it to you now." When he finished the demolition, he said, "This is the spot." Jarir (bin Abdullah Al-Bajali) said, "I estimated it to be about six cubits away."
[Machine] "He informed him that the Prophet ﷺ shaved his head during the farewell Hajj. So people used to shave their heads during Hajj and then perform Umrah along with the departing caravan, and they would ask why they were shaving their heads. He would reply, 'Pass on the statement of Musa (Moses) on your head.'"
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ consummated his marriage with Aisha during the month of Dhul-Hijjah, on the night of the Pebble Stoning (of Jamrat al-Aqaba)."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was approached by a man who said, "My father is an elderly man who embraced Islam but has not performed Hajj. He does not have a transportation and if I were to tie him with a rope to a mount for the journey, I fear that it may cause him harm." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perform Hajj on behalf of your father."
“O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man and he cannot perform Hajj or ‘Umrah, and he is not able to ride the mount (due to old age).” He said: “Perform Hajj and ‘Umrah on behalf of your father.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2906)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If a young boy performs Hajj, it is Hajj for him until he reaches the age of understanding. And when he reaches the age of understanding, he must perform another Hajj. And if an Arab performs Hajj, it is Hajj for him. And if he migrates, he must perform another Hajj."
[Machine] "I have hired myself out to a group, so I left some of my earnings for them to take charge of the rituals. Will that be sufficient on my part?" Ibn Abbas replied, "This is among those about whom Allah, Almighty, said, 'For them is a share of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in account.' [Al-Baqarah 202]."
The people used to trade, in the beginning, at Mina, Arafat, the market place of Dhul-Majaz, and during the season of hajj. But (later on) they became afraid of trading while they were putting on ihram. So Allah, glory be to Him, sent down this verse: "It is no sin for you that you seek the bounty of your Lord during the seasons of hajj." Ubayd ibn Umayr told me that he (Ibn Abbas) used to recite this verse in his codex. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1734)
[Machine] "I have indeed seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the revelation (of Prophethood) came to him, and indeed he was standing on a camel in Arafat with the people, pushing it along with them. And that was only by the facilitation from Allah Almighty."
[Machine] From his father, he narrated about mentioning Al-Hums, that indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand in Arafah, Makkah.
[Machine] Marwan sent to Umm Maqil to ask her about this narration. She narrated that her husband made a vow to perform Jihad in the way of Allah, and she intended to perform Umrah. She asked her husband, who refused her request. So she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned this to him. The Prophet ﷺ ordered him to give her what she requested and said, "Verily, Hajj and Umrah are from the ways of Allah, and verily, performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to performing Hajj, or it is sufficient for Hajj."
“Hajjaj bin ‘Amr Ansari narrated to me, he said: ‘I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “Whoever breaks a bone or becomes lame, has exited Ihram, but he must perform another Hajj.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3077)
Al Hajjaj bin ‘Amr Al Ansari reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “ If anyone breaks (a bone or leg) or becomes lame, he has come out of the sacred state and must perform Hajj the following year.” ‘Ikrimah said I asked Ibn ‘Abbas and Abu Hurairah about this. They replied He spoke the truth. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1862)
[Machine] The Quraysh used to call for al-Hums (a form of idol worship) and they would enter from the doors during the pilgrimage. The Ansar and the rest of the Arabs would not enter from the doors during the pilgrimage. While the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was in a garden, he came out of its door and Qutbah ibn Amir al-Ansari came out with him. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, Qutbah ibn Amir is an immoral man, and he came out with you from the door." He said, "What made you say that?" He said, "I saw you do it, so I did it as well." He said, "I am performing al-Hums." He said, "My religion is your religion." So, Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, revealed: "It is not righteousness that you enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah." [Quran 2:189]
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "What is the righteousness of Hajj?" He said, "Feeding the food and speaking good words."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to perform Hajj, so a woman said to her husband, "Let me go for Hajj with the Messenger of Allah." He replied, "I do not have anything to perform Hajj with." She said, "Take me with you on your camel." He responded, "That is what I am anticipating for myself and our child." She said, "Take me with you on your riding animal." He said, "That is what is needed in the way of Allah." She said, "Then sell your dates and raisins." He said, "That is our sustenance, yours and mine." When the Prophet ﷺ returned from Makkah, the woman sent a message to him, saying, "Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah. Please ask him (her husband) what credits a Hajj with you." Her husband went to the Prophet and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my wife sends greetings to you, and she said that she asked me to take her for Hajj with you. I told her I do not have anything. Then she said, 'Take me on my riding animal.' I responded, 'That is what is needed in the way of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'If you had taken her, you would have been rewarded for performing Hajj in the way of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ then laughed in astonishment at her eagerness to perform Hajj." He (the husband) continued, "She also requested me to ask you what is equivalent to a Hajj with you." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Tell her peace and mercy from me, and inform her that performing Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to a Hajj with me."
[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ ordered the people during the Farewell Pilgrimage, saying, "Whoever desires to perform Umrah before Hajj, then he should do so."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed three rounds of circumambulation (Tawaf) and walked four times between Safa and Marwa when he arrived for Hajj and Umrah when he performed 'Umrah.
“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Hajj in three ways. Some of us began the Talbiyah for Hajj and ‘Umrah together, some of us began the Talbiyah for Hajj on its own, and some of us began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah on its own. Those who began the Talbiyah for Hajj and ‘Umrah together did not exit Ihram at all until they had completed the rites of Hajj. Those who began the Talbiyah for Hajj on its own did not exit ihram at all until they had completed the rites of Hajj. And those who began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah on its own circumambulated the House and ran between Safa and Marwah, then whatever had been forbidden to them became permissible until the time for Hajj came.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3075)
from his father about Aishah, that she would carry some Zamzam water, and she would say: "Indeed the Messenger of Allah would carry it." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 963)
[Machine] "From Amr ibn Maymun, explaining and summarizing."
[Machine] "Swap the sacrifice/animal offerings, as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded his companions to replace the sacrifice they made in the year of Hudaybiyah during the Umrah of Qadaa. Umar said, 'My father was very worried about the sacrifice they made in the year of Hudaybiyah, he used to say, 'I don't know whether the companions of the Prophet ﷺ substituted the gifts they offered in Hudaybiyah during the Umrah of Qadaa or not', until Abu Hadr (his father) informed him.'"

"The Messenger of Allah got up one night and got dressed, then he went out. I told my slave girl Barirah to follow him, so she followed him until he came to Al-Baqi. Then he stood near if for as long as Allah willed that he should stand, then he left. Barirah came back before he did and told me, but I did not mention anything until morning came, then I mentioned that to him. He said: 'I was sent to the people of Al-Baqi' to pray for them."' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked her, "What is wrong with you?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I see that your complexion has turned pale." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "O Fatimah, Allah, the Almighty, has sent your father with a command that not a single dwelling or strand of hair on the face of the earth remains without Allah either granting it honor or humiliating it until the Day of Resurrection."
