My friend (the Prophet ﷺ ) advised me to observe three things: (1) to fast three days a month; (2) to pray two rakʿat of Duha prayer (forenoon prayer); and (3) to pray witr before sleeping.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلاَثٍ صِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَرَكْعَتَىِ الضُّحَى وَأَنْ أُوتِرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنَامَ

"My dearest friend advised me (to do) three things: 'To sleep after praying Witr, to fast three days each month, and to pray two rak'ahs of Fajr.'"

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلاَثٍ النَّوْمِ عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَصِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَرَكْعَتَىِ الضُّحَى

"The Messenger of Allah enjoyed three things upon me: To sleep after praying Witr, to perform Ghusal on Friday, and to fast three days of each month." (Sahih).

أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِثَلاَثٍ بِنَوْمٍ عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَالْغُسْلِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَصَوْمِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ

[AI] My friend advised me with three things: fasting three days every month, praying the odd-numbered prayers before sleeping, and taking a bath on Fridays.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلَاثٍ صَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَالْوَتْرِ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ وَالْغُسْلِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

[AI] "Abu Hurairah advised me with three things, which my beloved (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ) never let me neglect: Offering the Witr prayer before going to sleep, fasting three days of every month, and taking a bath on Fridays."

أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ثَلَاثٌ أَوْصَانِي بِهِنَّ خَلِيلِي ﷺ لَا أَدَعُهُنَّ أَبَدًا الْوَتْرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنَامَ وَصِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَالْغُسْلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

[AI] My friend advised me with three things; fasting three days every month, praying Witr before sleeping, and performing the Friday bath.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلَاثٍ صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَالْوِتْرُ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ وَالْغُسْلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

[AI] Abu Hurairah said, "My beloved, ﷺ , advised me to fast three days every month and to perform Witr prayer before sleeping, and to pray Duha, for it is the prayer of the devout."

سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِصَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَبِالْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ وَبِصَلَاةِ الضُّحَىفَإِنَّهَا صَلَاةُ الْأَوَّابِينَ

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ؛ أَنَّه كان إذا اهتم أكثر من مس لحيته وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لاَ نعلمُهُ يُرْوَى عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة إلاَّ من هذا الوجه بهذا الإسناد محمد بن عَمْرو عَن أبي سلمة

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ ابنا العاص مؤمنان هشام وعمرو وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ مُحَمد عَن أبي سَلَمَة عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ حماد بن سلمة

وأن لا أنام إلاَّ على وتر وصيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَن الأَوْزاعِيّ إلاَّ مُحَمد بن كثير ولاَ يروى عَن أبي سَلَمَة عَن أبي هُرَيرة إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

قَالَ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلاثٍ ألا أنام إلا على وتر وصوم ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر والغسل يوم الجُمُعَة أو ركعتي الضحى أبو بَكْر يشك وَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمْهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ سَعِيد بن جُبَيْر عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الوَجْه وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ من طرق كثيرة

فقال لي اكتب فكتبت بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم سمعت أبا هريرة ؓ يقول أوصاني خليلي أبو القاسم ﷺ بصيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر ونوم على وتر وتسبيح الضحى ولا نعلم روى أبو معقل هذا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ إِلا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

قَالَ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلاثٍ الوتر قبل النوم وركعتي الضحى وصيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر وحديث شهر عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ رواه غير واحد عن شهر وحديث يحيى بن أيوب لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عن يحيى إلا مُحَمَّد بن يوسف

قَالَ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلاثٍ لا أدعهن الوتر قبل النوم والغسل يوم الجمعة وصيام ثلاثة أيام من الشهر

"عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: أَوْصَانِى خَلِيلِى بِثَلَاثٍ: الْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ، وَصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، وَالْغُسْلِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ".
