"The Prophet was with one of the Mothers of the Believers when another one sent a wooden bowl in which was some food. She struck the hand of the Prophet and the bowl fell and broke. The Prophet picked up the two pieces and put them together, then he started to gather up the food and said: 'Your mother got jealous; eat.' So they ate. He waited until she brought the wooden bowl that was in her house, then he gave the sound bowl to the messenger and left the broken bowl in the house of the one who had broken it."

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عِنْدَ إِحْدَى أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَأَرْسَلَتْ أُخْرَى بِقَصْعَةٍ فِيهَا طَعَامٌ فَضَرَبَتْ يَدَ الرَّسُولِ فَسَقَطَتِ الْقَصْعَةُ فَانْكَسَرَتْ فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْكِسْرَتَيْنِ فَضَمَّ إِحْدَاهُمَا إِلَى الأُخْرَى فَجَعَلَ يَجْمَعُ فِيهَا الطَّعَامَ وَيَقُولُ غَارَتْ أُمُّكُمْ كُلُوا فَأَكَلُوا فَأَمْسَكَ حَتَّى جَاءَتْ بِقَصْعَتِهَا الَّتِي فِي بَيْتِهَا فَدَفَعَ الْقَصْعَةَ الصَّحِيحَةَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَتَرَكَ الْمَكْسُورَةَ فِي بَيْتِ الَّتِي كَسَرَتْهَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with one of his wives. One of the Mothers of faithful sent a bowl containing food through a servant of hers. She struck with her hand and broke the bowl. Ibn al-Muthanna's version has: The Prophet ﷺ took the pieces of the bowl, and joined one with the other, and began to collect the food in it, saying: Your mother is jealous. Ibn al-Muthanna added: Eat. They ate till a bowl of the one in whose house he was brought. Abu Dawud said: We then returned to the version of the tradition of Musaddad: He said: Eat. He detained the servant and the bowl till they were free. Then he returned the sound bowl to the messenger and detained the broken one (bowl) in his house.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِحْدَى أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَعَ خَادِمِهَا بِقَصْعَةٍ فِيهَا طَعَامٌ قَالَ فَضَرَبَتْ بِيَدِهَا فَكَسَرَتِ الْقَصْعَةَ قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْكِسْرَتَيْنِ فَضَمَّ إِحْدَاهُمَا إِلَى الأُخْرَى فَجَعَلَ يَجْمَعُ فِيهَا الطَّعَامَ وَيَقُولُ غَارَتْ أُمُّكُمْ زَادَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى كُلُوا فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى جَاءَتْ قَصْعَتُهَا الَّتِي فِي بَيْتِهَا ثُمَّ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى لَفْظِ حَدِيثِ مُسَدَّدٍ وَقَالَ كُلُوا وَحَبَسَ الرَّسُولَ وَالْقَصْعَةَ حَتَّى فَرَغُوا فَدَفَعَ الْقَصْعَةَ الصَّحِيحَةَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَحَبَسَ الْمَكْسُورَةَ فِي بَيْتِهِ

“The Prophet ﷺ was with one of the Mothers of the Believers (his wives) and another (wife) sent a bowl containing food. She (the first wife) struck the hand of the Messenger of ﷺ and the bowl fell and broke. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took the two pieces and put them back together, then he started gathering up the food and putting it in (the bowl). He said: 'Your mother was jealous. Eat.' So they ate, and she (the wife who broke the bowl) brought the bowl that was in her house and gave the intact bowl to the Messenger ﷺ, who left the broken bowl in the house of the one who broke it.”

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with some of his wives, I think it was Aisha, so one of the Mothers of the Believers sent one of her servants with a plate of food. The servant accidentally hit another servant with her hand and the plate was broken into halves. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took the two halves, put one of them on top of the other, and placed the food in them. Then he said, "Eat." So they ate, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ held onto the broken plate until they finished. Then he returned another plate to the Messenger and left the broken one in its place.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ أَظُنُّهَا عَائِشَةَ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِحْدَى أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَعَ خَادِمٍ لَهَا بِقَصْعَةٍ فِيهَا طَعَامٌ قَالَ فَضَرَبَتِ الْأُخْرَى بِيَدِ الْخَادِمِ فَكُسِرَتِ الْقَصْعَةُ بِنِصْفَيْنِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ غَارَتْ أُمُّكُمْ قَالَ وَأَخَذَ الْكَسْرَيْنِ فَضَمَّ إِحْدَاهُمَا إِلَى الآخْر فَجَعَلَ فِيهَا الطَّعَامَ ثُمَّ قَالَ كُلُوا فَأَكَلُوا وَحَبَسَ الرَّسُولَ وَالْقَصْعَةَ حَتَّى فَرَغُوا فَدَفَعَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ قَصْعَةً أُخْرَى وَتَرَكَ الْمَكْسُورَةَ مَكَانَهَا
