Who had called out for the red camel? Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: May it not be restored to you! The mosques are built for what they are meant.

مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الأَحْمَرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ وَجَدْتَ إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ

Who called for a red camel? (Upon this) the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: May it not be restored to you! The mosques are built for what they are meant.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمَّا صَلَّى قَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الأَحْمَرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ وَجَدْتَ إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ

"The Messenger of Allah performed prayer, then a man said: 'Who was looking for the red camel?' The Prophet said: 'May you not find it! The mosques were built for that for which they were built.'"

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الأَحْمَرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ وَجَدْتَهُ إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ heard a man saying in the mosque, "Whoever calls to the red camel?" So the Prophet ﷺ said, "No, you have not found it. Mosques were only built for the purpose they were built for."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الْأَحْمَرِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا وَجَدْتَ إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ heard an Arab man or a person saying, "Whoever calls to the red camel." The Prophet ﷺ said, "No, you have not found (meaning the mosques were not built) except for what they were built for."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَمِعَ أَعْرَابِيًّا أَوْ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الْأَحْمَرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا وَجَدْتَ إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتْ هَذِهِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ heard an Arab or a man saying, "Whoever invites me to the red camel?" So the Prophet ﷺ said, "No, you will not find them except that these mosques were built for what they were built for."
