We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys on a very hot day, and it was so hot that one had to put his hand over his head because of the severity of heat. None of us was fasting except the Prophet and Ibn Rawaha.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ حَارٍّ حَتَّى يَضَعَ الرَّجُلُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا فِينَا صَائِمٌ إِلاَّ مَا كَانَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَابْنِ رَوَاحَةَ

We set out during the month of Ramadan with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in such an intense heat that one of us would place his hand over his head (in order to protect himself) against the excessive heat, and none among us was observing the fast, except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and 'Abdullah b. Rawaha.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فِي حَرٍّ شَدِيدٍ حَتَّى إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُنَا لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا فِينَا صَائِمٌ إِلاَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ

We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on some of his journeys on an intensely hot day so much so that a person would place his hand on his head (in order to protect himself) against excessive heat, and none amongst us was fasting but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abdullah b. Rawaha

أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ شَدِيدِ الْحَرِّ حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا مِنَّا أَحَدٌ صَائِمٌ إِلاَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ

We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for some battle in intense heat, so much so that one of us placed his hand on his head, or placed his palm on his head, due to intense heat, No one of us fasted except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and 'Abd Allah b. Rawahah.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ غَزَوَاتِهِ فِي حَرٍّ شَدِيدٍ حَتَّى إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ أَوْ كَفَّهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ مَا فِينَا صَائِمٌ إِلاَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ

“We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys on a hot day, and it was extremely hot. A man would put his hand over his head because of the intense heat. No one among the people was fasting except for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ‘Abdullah bin Rawahah.”

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ الْحَارِّالشَّدِيدِ الْحَرِّ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا فِي الْقَوْمِ أَحَدٌ صَائِمٌ إِلاَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ

[AI] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and indeed, one of us would place his hand on his head due to the intensity of the heat, and none of us was fasting except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abdullah ibn Rawaha.

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ وَإِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا مِنَّا صَائِمٌ إِلَّارَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ

“We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys on a hot day, and it was extremely hot. A man would put his hand over his head because of the intense heat. لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ الْحَارِّ الشَّدِيدِ الْحَرِّ حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا فِي الْقَوْمِ صَائِمٌ إِلَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ

[AI] I have seen some of us during our travels, and indeed one of us would put his hand on his head due to the intensity of the heat, and no one among the people was fasting except the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and Abdullah ibn Rawaha. And Abu 'Amir, Uthman ibn Hayyan, said this alone.

لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِنَا وَإِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ وَمَا فِي الْقَوْمِ صَائِمٌ إِلَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ وَقَالَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ وَحْدَهُ

[AI] Abu Darda said, "I have seen us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during some of his journeys on a very hot day. The heat was so intense that a person would place his hand on his head due to the severity of the heat. And none of us were fasting except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abdullah ibn Rawaha."
