Messenger of Allah, has (the number of the rak’ahs of) the prayer been increased ? he said : No. they said; you have offered five rak’ahs of prayer. He then turned away and performed two prostrations, and afterwards gave the salutation. He then said : I am only a human being, I forget, as you forget.

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَمْسًا فَلَمَّا انْفَتَلَ تَوَشْوَشَ الْقَوْمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنُكُمْ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ زِيدَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ لاَ قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ صَلَّيْتَ خَمْسًا فَانْفَتَلَ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ

[Machine] It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ prayed five prayers, and when he finished, he was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, should we increase in prayer?" He said, "No, why would you do that?" They said, "You have prayed five prayers." He said, "I am only a human like you, I remember as you remember and I forget as you forget." Then he performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى خَمْسًا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَزِيدَ فِي الصَّلَاةَ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَمَا ذَاكَ؟» قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ صَلَّيْتَ خَمْسًا قَالَ «فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلَكُمْ أَذْكُرُ كَمَا تَذْكُرُونَ وَأَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ» ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ

عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى خَمْسًا فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ أَقْبَلَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ صَلَّيْتَ خَمْسًا فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبَانَ
