Regarding the Verse: "Because of the inconvenience of rain or because you are ill." (4.102) (It was revealed in connection with) ʿAbdur-Rahman bin ʿAuf who was wounded.

عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفِ كَانَ جَرِيحًا

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

A hadith like this has been narrated by 'Abd al-Rahman b. al-Qasim with the same chain of transmitters.

عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ

I reported to Muhammad on the authority of Ibrahim the hadith reported by 'Abd al-Rahmann b. Bishr (the hadith concerning 'azl), where- upon he said: That (hadith) Abd al-Rahman b. Bishr had narrated to me (also).

عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ

I wanted to ask ʿUmar something but I did not find a chance, so I waited for two years. Then when we were in Marraz-Zahran, he went to relieve himself, then he came after relieving himself and I poured water for him, I said: O Ameer al-Muʿmineen, who are the two women who helped one another against the Messenger of Allah ﷺʿ? He said: ʿAʿishah and Hafsah. ʿ As mentioned in the Qurʿan: ʿIf you two (wives of the Prophet ﷺ) turn in repentance to Allâh. (it will be better for you), your hearts are indeed so inclined to oppose what the Prophet ﷺ likes); but if you help one another against him (Muhammad ﷺ). then verily, Allâh is his Maula (Lord, or Master, or Protector), and Jibril (Gabriel). and the righteous among the believers, and furthermore, the angels are his helpersʿ (surah at-Tahreem 66:3)

عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ

[AI] About Muhammad ibn Abdurrahman, meaning by this hadith.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah that Umar ibn al-Khattab turned people back at Sargh according to the hadith of Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf.

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ إِنَّمَا رَجَعَ بِالنَّاسِ مِنْ سَرْغَ عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَنْ يَمْنَحَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ الدَّرَاهِمَ أَوِ ظَهْرَ الدَّابَّةِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ قَالَ نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ شِبَاكٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ أَوِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هَكَذَا عُلِّمْنَا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ إِلَّا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

عَن عَبد الوَهَّاب

عَن مُوسَى بْنِ عبيدة

عَن عَبد الْحَمِيدِ

عن عمرة بنت عبد الرحمن

عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ

عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ
