The Prophet ﷺ entered a garden and told me to guard its gate. Then a man came and asked permission to enter. The Prophet, said, "Permit him and give him the good news that he will enter Paradise." Behold! It was Abu Bakr. Then ʿUmar came, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Admit him and give him the good news that he will enter Paradise." Then ʿUthman came and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Admit him and give him the good news that he will enter Paradise. "

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ حَائِطًا وَأَمَرَنِي بِحِفْظِ الْبَابِ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ فَإِذَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ

[Machine] I heard Abu Salama narrating, and I only know it from Nafi' bin 'Abdul-Harith, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered one of the corners of Al-Madinah and sat on the edge of a well. Abu Bakr asked for permission to enter, so he allowed him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise. Then 'Umar came asking for permission, so he allowed him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise. Then 'Uthman came asking for permission, so he allowed him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise. And he will face a test.

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ يُحَدِّثُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ حَائِطًا مِنْ حَوَائِطِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَجَلَسَ عَلَى قُفِّ الْبِئْرِ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَسَيَلْقَى بَلَاءً

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Guard the door." Then a man came seeking permission and he said, "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise." Then Abu Bakr came seeking permission and he said, "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise." Then 'Umar came seeking permission and he remained silent ﷺ, then he said, "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise, for he will face a severe trial." Then 'Uthman came...

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِي «احْفَظِ الْبَابَ» فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ «ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ» فَإِذَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ «ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ» فَإِذَا عُمَرُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْتَأْذِنُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ عَلَى بَلْوًى شَدِيدَةٍ تُصِيبُهُ» فَإِذَا عُثْمَانُ

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ was in a wall, and Abu Bakr sought permission. He said, 'Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise.' Then Umar sought permission, and he said, 'Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise and martyrdom.' Then Uthman sought permission, and he said, 'Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise and martyrdom.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ فِي حَائِطٍ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهَ وَبَشِّرْهَ بِالْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَبِالشَّهَادَةِ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عُثْمَانُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَبِالشَّهَادَةِ

" عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: كُنْتُ شَاهِدَ النَّبِىِّ ﷺ فِى حَائِطِ نَخْلٍ، فَاسْتَأَذَنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ : إِئْذَنُوا لَهُ وَبَشِّرُوهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَأذَنَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ: إِيذَنُوا لَهُ وَبَشِّرُوهُ بَالْجَنَّةِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَأَذَنَ عُثْمَانُ فَقَالَ: إيذَنُوا لَهُ وَبَشِّرُوهُ بَالْجَنَّةِ عَلَى بَلْوَى تُصِيبُهُ، فَدَخَلَ يَبْكِى وَيَضْحَكُ، قَالَ عْبدُ الله: فَأَنَا يَا نَبِىَّ الله؛ قَالَ: أَنْتَ مَعَ أَبِيكَ ".

"عَنْ أبى هُريرةَ أنَّ رسول اللهِ ﷺ دخل حُشًا بالْمَدِينَةِ وهو الحائط، فجاء أبو بكر فاستأذَنَ عليْه فقال: ائذنوا له وبشِّروهُ بالجنة معى، جاء عُمر فاسْتأذن فَقَالَ: ائذنوا له وبشروه بالجنَّة، ثم جَاءَ عُثْمَان فاسْتَأذَنَ فقال: ائذنوا له وبَشِّروُه بالجنَّة مع ما يُصيب من البلاء الشَدِيدِ".
