[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ requested me to recite a poem from the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi Salt. So, I recited it to him and every time I recited a verse, he would say, "It is true," until I recited a hundred verses, and he said, "It is as if he is about to convert (to Islam)."  

أحمد:١٩٤٥٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْلَى بْنِ كَعْبٍ الثَّقَفِيَّ الطَّائِفِيَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الشَّرِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

اسْتَنْشَدَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ فَأَنْشَدْتُهُ فَكُلَّمَا أَنْشَدْتُهُ بَيْتًا قَالَ هِيَ حَتَّى أَنْشَدْتُهُ مِائَةَ قَافِيَةٍ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَادَ لَيُسْلِمُ

أَنْشَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِائَةَ قَافِيَةٍ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ يَقُولُ بَيْنَ كُلِّ قَافِيَةٍ هِيهِ وَقَالَ كَادَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited poetry to him from Umayyah ibn Abi Salt. He recited a hundred verses, and I did not recite anything without him saying "Yes, yes" until I finished reciting a hundred verses, and he almost submitted.

[Machine] I was sitting close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he asked me, "Do you have any knowledge of the poetry of Umayyah ibn Abi as-Salt?" I replied, "Yes." He then said, "Recite some for me." I recited a verse for him, and he continued to say to me, "Recite more," every time I recited for him, until I recited a hundred verses. Then the Prophet ﷺ fell silent, and I remained silent as well.  

أحمد:١٩٤٦٧حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَمْرَو بْنَ الشَّرِيدِ يَقُولُ قَالَ

الشَّرِيدُ كُنْتُ رِدْفًا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِي أَمَعَكَ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ شَيْءٌ؟ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَنْشِدْنِي فَأَنْشَدْتُهُ بَيْتًا فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقُولُ لِي كُلَّمَا أَنْشَدْتُهُ إِيهِ حَتَّى أَنْشَدْتُهُ مِائَةَ بَيْتٍ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺوَسَكَتُّ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ tapped me on the back and said, "Do you have anything from the poetry of Umayyah?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Recite some to me." So, I recited a verse to him. He said, "Continue." And he kept saying, "Continue" until I recited a hundred verses.

ذِكْرُ إِبَاحَةِ إِنْشَادِ الْمَرْءِ الشِّعْرَ الَّذِي لَا يَكُونُ فِيهِ هِجَاءُ مُسْلِمٍ، وَلَا مَا لَا يُوجِبُهُ الدَّيْنُ

He said, "Go ahead," so I recited a verse to him, and he said, "Keep going." I continued to recite, and he kept saying, "Keep going," until I completed one hundred verses.  

ابن حبّان:٥٧٨٢أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الشَّرِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَرْدَفَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَلْفَهُ فَقَالَ «هَلْ مَعَكَ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ»؟ فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «هِيهِ» فَأَنْشَدْتُهُ بَيْتًا فَقَالَ «هِيهِ» ثُمَّ أَنْشَدْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقُولُ «هِيهِ» وَأُنْشِدُهُ حَتَّى أَتْمَمْتُ مِائَةَ بَيْتٍ

[Machine] I was sitting next to the messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Do you have anything from the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi Salt?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Recite it." So, I recited a couplet to him and he kept saying, "Recite more." I continued reciting until I recited him a hundred couplets.  

الطبراني:٧٢٣٨حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الشَّرِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
