“If one who can afford it delays repayment, his honor and punishment become permissible.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2427)   

أحمد:١٩٤٥٦حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا وَبْرُ بْنُ أَبِي دُلَيْلَةَ شَيْخٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الطَّائِفِ عَنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مُسَيْكَةَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الشَّرِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيُّ الْوَاجِدِ يُحِلُّ عِرْضَهُ وَعُقُوبَتَهُ قَالَ وَكِيعٌ عِرْضُهُ شِكَايَتُهُ وَعُقُوبَتُهُ حَبْسُهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said: Delay in payment on the part of one who possesses means makes it lawful to dishonour and punish him. Ibn al-Mubarak said that "dishonour" means that he may be spoken to roughly and "punish" means he may be imprisoned for it.
