"I recited one hundered verses of the poetry of Umayyah bin Abu Salt to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and after every line he said, "More". And he said: "He nearly accepted Islam."  

ابن ماجة:٣٧٥٨حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْلَى عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الشَّرِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَنْشَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِائَةَ قَافِيَةٍ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ يَقُولُ بَيْنَ كُلِّ قَافِيَةٍ هِيهِ وَقَالَ كَادَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ requested me to recite a poem from the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi Salt. So, I recited it to him and every time I recited a verse, he would say, "It is true," until I recited a hundred verses, and he said, "It is as if he is about to convert (to Islam)."  

أحمد:١٩٤٥٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْلَى بْنِ كَعْبٍ الثَّقَفِيَّ الطَّائِفِيَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الشَّرِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

اسْتَنْشَدَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ شِعْرِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ فَأَنْشَدْتُهُ فَكُلَّمَا أَنْشَدْتُهُ بَيْتًا قَالَ هِيَ حَتَّى أَنْشَدْتُهُ مِائَةَ قَافِيَةٍ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَادَ لَيُسْلِمُ  

يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ السُّوَائِيُّ أَبُو جَابِرٍ

[Machine] I recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a hundred lines of poetry by Umayyah ibn Abi Salt, every time I passed by a verse he would say "ah!" and I heard him saying in his gathering, "That neighbor is more deserving of his jar."
