Whenever the dining sheet of the Prophet ﷺ was taken away (i.e., whenever he finished his meal), he used to say: "Al-hamdu li l-lah kathiran taiyiban mubarakan fihi ghaira makfiy wala muWadaʿ wala mustaghna'anhu Rabbuna."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ مَائِدَتَهُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلاَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established." سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ»

When the food cloth was removed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “praise be to Allah abundantly and sincerely, of such a nature as is productive of blessing, is not insufficient, Abandoned, or ignored, O our lord.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3849)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَوْ شَرِبَ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفُورٍ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبِّنَا»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The hand is not to be cut off for (stealing) produce or the spadix of palm trees."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4960)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا قَطْعَ فِي ثَمَرٍ وَلَا كَثَرٍ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Only a wrongdoer hoards." (It was said) twice.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَحْتَكِرُ إِلَّا خَاطِئٌ» مَرَّتَيْنِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "A good deed is rewarded ten times its like."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "A person is with the one they love."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْعَبْدُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever abandons a Dinar is sinning."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَرَكَ دِينَارًافَهُوَ كَيَّةٌ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Each servant has a bird on their neck."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ طَيْرُ كُلِّ عَبْدٍ فِي عُنُقِهِ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Woe to the Achilles' tendon because of Hell-fire." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 454)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَاقِيبِ مِنَ النَّارِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Allah said: 'Do not take My servants as idols.'"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ قَالَ اللهُ لَا تُمَثِّلُوا بِعِبَادِي

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Glorify the One with ultimate Majesty and Honor."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَلِظُّوا بِيَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

[AI] I entered the mosque in Damascus and saw people gathered and a sheikh speaking to them. I asked, "Who is this?" They said, "He is Sahl ibn al-Hanzaliyyah." I heard him saying, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever eats meat, let him perform ablution.'"

دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ فَرَأَيْتُ أُنَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ وَشَيْخًا يُحَدِّثُهُمْ قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا سَهْلُ ابْنُ الْحَنْظَلِيَّةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ لَحْمًا فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

[AI] Amr ibn al-As gave gifts to some people, and he showed preference to Ammar ibn Yasir. It was said to him (asked why he did so), and he replied, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “The rebellious group will kill him.”'

أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ أَهْدَى إِلَى نَاسٍ هَدَايَا فَفَضَّلَ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ تَقْتُلُهُ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah loves modesty and concealment."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ الْحَيَاءَ وَالسَّتْرَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The giving hand is better than the receiving hand."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْيَدُ الْمُعْطِيَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters. (Using translation from Muslim 2556c)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

I heard the Prophet, saying, "I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount. (Al-Kauthar) . (Using translation from Bukhārī 6589)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَنَا فَرَطُكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فَذَكَرَهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The Khawarij are the dogs of the Hellfire."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْخَوَارِجُ هُمْ كِلَابُ النَّارِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, Allah does not show mercy to those who do not show mercy to people."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ لَا يَرْحَمُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Only a stray person will shelter another stray."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ إِلَّا ضَالٌّ

" That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who shows no mercy to the people, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, does not show mercy to him." (Using translation from Muslim 2319a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ ﷻ

" That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who shows no mercy to the people, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, does not show mercy to him." (Using translation from Muslim 2319a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ ﷻ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Modesty is goodness in its entirety."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Modesty is all good." Then he mentioned the hadith.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Modesty is entirely good."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَيَاءُخَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying: "Indeed, Cupping is among the best of your treatments."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ مِنْ خَيْرِ دَوَائِكُمُ الْحِجَامَةَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The date and the rock are from Paradise."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْعَجْوَةُ وَالصَّخْرَةُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ

[AI] "And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Indeed, Allah has named the city as Taba.'"

وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ طَابَةَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, Allah named the city as Taba."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ طَابَةَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, Allah named the city as Ta'ba."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ طَابَةَ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Verily, Allah does not like every vulgar and obscene person."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ فَاحِشٍ مُتَفَحِّشٍ

When the food cloth was removed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “praise be to Allah abundantly and sincerely, of such a nature as is productive of blessing, is not insufficient, Abandoned, or ignored, O our lord.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3849)

[AI] "I have stood in this place of mine, and I am not a preacher, nor do I want to preach. But I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'After completing a meal, praise be to Allah abundantly, with a good and blessed praise that is not lacking, not insufficient, and not unnecessary.' He continued repeating them to us until we memorized them."

لَقَدْ قُمْتُ مَقَامِي هَذَا وَمَا أَنَا بِخَطِيبٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ الْخُطْبَةَ وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ قَالَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُرَدِّدُهُنَّ عَلَيْنَا حَتَّى حَفِظْنَاهُنَّ

دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ فَرَأَيْتُ نَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ وَشَيْخٌ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا هَذَا سَهْلُ ابْنُ الْحَنْظَلِيَّةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ لَحْمًا فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: The tale-bearer shall not enter Paradise. (Using translation from Muslim 105a)

َقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ نَمَّامٌ

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: The tale-bearer shall not enter Paradise. (Using translation from Muslim 105a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ نَمَّامٌ

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "A tale-bearer will not enter Jannah." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6056)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَتَّاتٌ

[AI] And he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Make your graves level with the ground.'"

وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ سَوُّوا قُبُورَكُمْ بِالْأَرْضِ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying something similar to that.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ

"No one hoards but a sinner."' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2154)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَحْتَكِرُ إِلَّا خَاطِئٌ

I heard Allah's Apostle ﷺ as saying. Every servant would be raised (in the same very state) in which he dies. (Using translation from Muslim 2878a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يُبْعَثُ كُلُّ عَبْدٍ عَلَى مَا مَاتَ»

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا رُفِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا»

“May Allah have mercy on the one who keeps watch over the troops.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2769)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «رَحِمَ اللَّهُ حَارِسَ الْحَرَسِ»

" That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who shows no mercy to the people, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, does not show mercy to him." (Using translation from Muslim 2319a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللَّهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Remorse is repentance." He (the person being addressed) said, "Yes."

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ»؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say after finishing his food, "Praise be to Allah, much abundant and pure and blessed praise. It is not enough nor is it temporarily stored, and none can be self-sufficient without it."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»

[AI] We witnessed a meal at the house of Abdul Alaa, and Abu Umamah was with us. Abu Umamah said, after finishing the food, "When the meal is over, I do not like to be a speaker. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say after finishing the food, 'Praise be to Allah, abundant, pure and blessed praise. A praise that is not temporary or unnecessary.'"

شَهِدْنَا طَعَامًا فِي مَنْزِلِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى وَمَعَنَا أَبُو أُمَامَةَ فَقَالَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَكُونَ خَطِيبًا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, Allah does not like obscenity and vulgarity."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفَاحِشَ الْمُتَفَحِّشَ»
