AbuSallam told that he was in the mosque of Hims. A man passed him and the people said about him that he served the Prophet ﷺ. He (AbuSallam) went to him and said: Tell me any tradition which you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and there were no man between him and you. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If anyone says in the morning and in the evening: "I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, with Muhammad as Prophet," Allah will certainly please him. [Machine] We were sitting in the mosque of Homs when a man passed by and they said, "This is a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So I stood up and asked him, "Tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that others do not narrate between you?" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'No Muslim servant says three times in the evening or morning, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Prophet,' except that it is a right upon Allah to please him on the Day of Judgment."

[Machine] On the authority of Abu Salamah, servant of the Messenger of Allah, who said that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "No slave, person, or Muslim says when he goes to bed and when he wakes up, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad as my prophet,' except that it becomes a right upon Allah to please him on the Day of Judgment."

[Machine] A tall, unkempt man passed by us, and it was said that he was a servant of the Prophet ﷺ . So I approached him and asked, "Did you serve the Prophet ﷺ ?" He replied, "Yes." I said, "Tell me something about him that has not been narrated between you and him." He said, "I heard him say, 'Whoever says in the morning and evening three times, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad as my Prophet, it will be a right upon Allah to please him on the Day of Judgment.'"

مَرَّ بِنَا رَجُلٌ طُوَالٌ أَشْعَثُ فَقِيلَ إِنَّ هَذَا خَدَمَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ أَخَدَمْتَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ حَدِّثْنِي عَنْهُ حَدِيثًا لَمْ تَدَاوَلْهُ الرِّجَالُ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ وَحِينَ يُمْسِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ «رَضِيتُ بِاللهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُرْضِيَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

[Machine] "He was in the mosque of Hims when a man passed by, so I stood up to him and said to him, 'Tell me a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that has not been transmitted by other men.' He said, 'I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was saying, 'There is no Muslim slave who, in the morning and evening, says, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad ﷺ as my Prophet,' except that it is incumbent upon Allah to please him on the Day of Resurrection.' " This mentions the disagreement between 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Shurayh and 'Abdullah ibn Wahb over a news report from Abu Hanifah about Abu Sa'id al-Khudri.
