Be patient, Abu ʿAbdullah; be patient, Abu ‘Abdullah, on the banks of the Euphrates. I said: what did he say? He said: I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ one day and his eyes were flowing with tears. I said: O Prophet ﷺ of Allah, has someone upset you? Why are your eyes flowing with tears? He said: ʿNo, but Jibreel left me a while ago. He told me that al-Husain would be killed on the banks of the Euphrates, And he said: ʿWould you like to smell his dust (the dust of the land where he will fall)?ʿ I said: Yes. He stretched out his hand and picked up a handful of dust and gave it to me, and I could not help but weep.ʿ  

أَنَّهُ سَارَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ مِطْهَرَتِهِ فَلَمَّا حَاذَى نِينَوَى وَهُوَ مُنْطَلِقٌ إِلَى صِفِّينَ فَنَادَى عَلِيٌّ اصْبِرْ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ اصْبِرْ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ قُلْتُ وَمَاذَا قَالَ؟ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَفِيضَانِ قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَغْضَبَكَ أَحَدٌ مَا شَأْنُ عَيْنَيْكَ تَفِيضَانِ؟ قَالَ بَلْ قَامَ مِنْ عِنْدِي جِبْرِيلُ قَبْلُ فَحَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ يُقْتَلُ بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ قَالَ فَقَالَ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ أُشِمَّكَ مِنْ تُرْبَتِهِ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَمَدَّ يَدَهُ فَقَبَضَ قَبْضَةً مِنْ تُرَابٍ فَأَعْطَانِيهَا فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ عَيْنَيَّ أَنْ فَاضَتَا  

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ came and was given permission, and he said to Umm Salamah: "Allow me to enter, so that no one enters upon us." He said: "And Al-Husayn came to enter, so she prevented him, but he jumped and entered. He sat on the back of the Prophet ﷺ, and on his shoulder, and on his chest. The angel said to the Prophet ﷺ: "Do you love him?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Verily, your nation will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." He struck with his hand and brought a red clay, which Umm Salamah took and placed it in her head covering. He said: "It has been conveyed to us that it is Karbala."  

أَنْ يَأْتِيَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ امْلِكِي عَلَيْنَا الْبَابَ لَا يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْنَا أَحَدٌ قَالَ وَجَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ لِيَدْخُلَ فَمَنَعَتْهُ فَوَثَبَ فَدَخَلَ فَجَعَلَ يَقْعُدُ عَلَى ظَهَرِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَعَلَى مَنْكِبِهِ وَعَلَى عَاتِقِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ الْمَلَكُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَتُحِبُّهُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ سَتَقْتُلُهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَرَيْتُكَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِيهِ فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ فَجَاءَ بِطِينَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَأَخَذَتْهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَصَرَّتْهَا فِي خِمَارِهَاقَالَ قَالَ ثَابِتٌ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّهَا كَرْبَلَاءُ  

The angel of Rain sought permission from Allah to visit the Prophet ﷺ and that was the day of Umm Salamah. The Prophet ﷺ said to Umm Salamah, "Guard the door for us so that no one should enter." Then when she was at the door, al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī came and pushed the door open forcefully. He entered and began to leap on the back of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet lovingly hugged and kissed him. The angel asked him, "Do you love him?" He replied, "Yes." The angel said, 'However, your Ummah will kill him. If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." He said, "Yes." So, the angel took a handful of ˹the soil from˺ the place where he will be killed and showed it to him; he brought him sandy or red soil. Umm Salamah took that soil and kept it in her garment.  

اسْتَأْذَنَ مَلَكُ الْقَطْرِ رَبَّهُ أَنْ يَزُورَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَكَانَ فِي يَوْمِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «احْفَظِي عَلَيْنَا الْبَابَ لَا يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْنَا أَحَدٌ» فَبَيْنَمَا هِيَ عَلَى الْبَابِ إِذْ جَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فَظَفِرَ فَاقْتَحَمَ فَفَتَحَ الْبَابَ فَدَخَلَ فَجَعَلَ يَتَوَثَّبُ عَلَى ظَهْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ يَتَلَثَّمُهُ وَيُقَبِّلُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمَلَكُ أَتُحِبُّهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ سَتَقْتُلُهُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَرَيْتُكَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِيهِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَقَبَضَ قَبْضَةً مِنَ الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِيهِ فَأَرَاهُ إِيَّاهُ فَجَاءَهُ بِسَهْلَةٍ أَوْ تُرَابٍ أَحْمَرَ فَأَخَذَتْهُ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي ثَوْبِهَا  

[Machine] He traveled with Ali, and when he reached Nineveh, he said, "Be patient, O Abu Abdullah, be patient at the banks of the Euphrates." I asked, "And what is that?" He said, "I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day and his eyes were overflowing. So I said, 'Has anyone angered you, O Messenger of Allah? Why do I see your eyes overflowing?' He stood up and Gabriel ﷺ came to me and informed me that my nation will kill my son Husayn. Then he said, 'Would you like me to show you his burial place?' I said, 'Yes.' So he extended his hand and grabbed [some soil], and when I saw it, my eyes couldn't hold back their tears."  

أَنَّهُ سَافَرَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ فَلَمَّا حَاذَى نِينَوَى قَالَ صَبْرًا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ صَبْرًا بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ قُلْتُ وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَفِيضَانِ فَقُلْتُ هَلْ أَغْضَبَكَ أَحَدٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ مَالِي أَرَى عَيْنَيْكَ مُفِيضَتَيْنِ؟ قَالَ قَامَ مِنْ عِنْدِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ أُمَّتِي تَقْتُلُ الْحُسَيْنَ ابْنِي ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلْ لَكَ أَنْ أُرِيَكَ مِنْ تُرْبَتِهِ؟ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَمَدَّ يَدَهُ فَقَبَضَ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهَا لَمْ أَمْلِكْ عَيْنَيَّ أَنْ فَاضَتَا  

[Machine] The King of Qatar sought permission from his Lord to visit the Prophet ﷺ , so he granted him permission. The King came to him while he was in the house of Umm Salamah and said, "O Umm Salamah, keep the door closed so that no one enters." While they were at the door, Al-Hussein came and opened the door. He began jumping on the back of the Prophet ﷺ , and the Prophet ﷺ embraced him and kissed him. The King asked him, "Do you love him, O Muhammad?" He said, "Yes." The king then said, "Your nation will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you some soil from the place he will be killed." The Prophet ﷺ agreed, so the king took a handful of soil from the place where he would be killed. He brought it to him, and Umm Salamah took it and placed it in her lap. Thabit said, "We used to say that it was Karbala."  

اسْتَأْذَنَ مَلَكُ الْقَطْرِ رَبَّهُ ﷻ أَنْ يَزُورَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَجَاءَهُ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَ «يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ‍ احْفَظِي عَلَيْنَا الْبَابَ لَا يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْنَا أَحَدٌ» فَبَيْنَمَا هُمْ عَلَى الْبَابِ إِذْ جَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ فَفَتَحَ الْبَابَ فَجَعَلَ يَتَقَفَّزُ عَلَى ظَهْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَلْتَئِمُهُ وَيُقَبِّلُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمَلَكُ تُحِبُّهُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ سَتَقْتُلُهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ أُرِيَكَ مِنْ تُرْبَةِ الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِيهَا قَالَ فَقَبَضَ قَبْضَةً مِنَ الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي يُقْتَلُ فِيهِ فَأَتَاهُ بِسَهْلَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَأَخَذَتْهُ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَجَعَلَتْهُ فِي ثَوْبِهَا قَالَ ثَابِتٌ «كُنَّا نَقُولُ إِنَّهَا كَرْبَلَاءُ»  

"قامَ مِنْ عِنْدِي جِبْرِيلُ مِنْ قبْل، فحَدثنِي أن الحُسَينَ يُقْتَل بشَطِّ الفُرَاتِ، وَقَال: هَلْ لَكَ أن أُشِمَّكَ مِنْ تُرْبَتِه؟ قُلتُ: نعَمْ, فمَدَّ يَدَهُ فقَبَضَ قبْضَةً مِن تُرَابٍ فَأعْطَانِيهَا فَلَمْ أمْلِك عَينَيَّ أنْ فَاضَتَا".  

"عن نُجَىٍّ أنهُ سارَ مع عليٍّ فما حَاذَى نِينَوَى وَهُوَ منطلق إلى صِفَّيْن نَادَى: اصْبر اْبَا عبدِ الله اصبْر أبَا عَبْدِ الله بِشَطِّ الفُرَاتِ. قلتُ: وماذَا؟ قالَ: دخلتُ على النبي ﷺ ذاتَ يومٍ وعيناهُ تفيضانِ. قلتُ: يا نبى الله أغضبَكَ أحَدٌ؟ ما شأنُ عينَيْكَ تَفِيضَانِ؟ قالَ: بَلْ قَامَ من عندِى جبريلُ قبلُ فحدثَنِى أنَّ الحُسَينَ يُقْتَلُ بشَطِّ الفراتِ. فقالَ: هل لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ اشِمَّكَ من تُرْبَتِهِ؟ قلتُ: نعمْ. فمد يدهُ فقبضَ قبضة من ترابٍ فَأعطانِيهَا فلمْ أملكْ عينىَ أن فَاضَتَا".  

"عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: اسْتَأَذَنَ مَلَكُ الْقَطرِ أَنْ يَأتِى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَقَالَ: يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ احْفَظِى عَلَيْنَا الْبَابَ لاَ يَدْخُلَنَّ أَحَدٌ، فَجَاءَ الْحَسَنُ (*) بْنُ عَلِىٍّ فَوَثَبَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ فَجَعَلَ يَقْعُدُ عَلَى مَنْكبِ النَّبِىِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمَلَكُ: أَتُحِبُّه؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ : نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ في أُمَّتِكَ مَنْ يَقْتُلُهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَرَيْتُكَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِى يُقْتَلُ فِيهِ فَيَضْرِبُ بِيَدِهِ فَأَرَاهُ تُرَابًا أَحْمَرَ فَأَخَذَتْهُ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَصَرَّتْهُ في طَرَفِ ثَوْبِهَا، قَالَ: كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أنَّهُ يُقْتَلُ بِكَرْبِلاَء".
