[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a man speaks, then turns away, it is a trust." Abu 'Amir added, in his gathering, with a narration.  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٢حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ وَأَبُو عَامِرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا حَدَّثَ الرَّجُلُ حَدِيثًا فَالْتَفَتَ فَهِيَ أَمَانَةٌ قَالَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ بِحَدِيثٍ

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said regarding animals, "There is no harm in marrying two animals together, hand in hand, but it is not appropriate for women."  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٣حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْحَيَوَانِ اثْنَانِ بِوَاحِدٍ لَابَأْسَ بِهِ يَدًا بِيَدٍ وَلَا يَصْلُحُ نَسَاءً  

ahmad:15064Yazīd > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Shuraḥbīl b. Saʿd > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , in the time of Hudaybiyah until we reached As-Suqya. Mu'adh ibn Jabal asked, "Who will fetch water for us in our containers?" Jabir said, "I went out with some young men from the Ansar until we reached the water at Al-Uthayyah, which was approximately twenty-three miles away. We watered our containers until after the sunset, when a man came arguing with his camel by the pond. He asked, 'Should I proceed?' Then we realized it was the Prophet, ﷺ , so he proceeded. I grabbed the reins of his she-camel and brought her to him. He performed the sunset prayer. Jabir continued to describe the incident until he ended up beside the Prophet, ﷺ . Then the Prophet performed thirteen prostrations after the prayer.  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٤حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا السُّقْيَا فَقَالَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ مَنْ يَسْقِينَا فِي أَسْقِيَتِنَا؟ قَالَ جَابِرٌ فَخَرَجْتُ فِي فِتْيَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا الْمَاءَ الَّذِي بِالْأُثَايَةِ وَبَيْنَهُمَا قَرِيبٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ مِيلًا فَسَقَيْنَا فِي أَسْقِيَتِنَا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بَعْدَ عَتَمَةٍ إِذَا رَجُلٌ يُنَازِعُهُ بَعِيرُهُ إِلَى الْحَوْضِ فَقَالَ أَوْرِدْ؟ فَإِذَا هُوَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَوْرَدَ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُ بِزِمَامِ نَاقَتِهِ فَأَنَخْتُهَا فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى الْعَتَمَةَ وَجَابِرٌ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَسَجْدَةً

[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said, "A man will come to you, or he said, 'A man will enter upon you, seeking a man from the people of Paradise.'" Abu Bakr came, and then he said, "A young man will come to you, seeking a man from the people of Paradise." Then Umar came, and then he said, "A man from the people of Paradise will come to you." O Allah, make him Ali. O Allah, make him Ali." Then Ali came.  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٥حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلٌ أَوْ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلٌ يُرِيدُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَوْ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَابٌّ يُرِيدُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ عَلِيًّا اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ عَلِيًّا قَالَ فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ

I do not know; perhaps it (lizard) might (be one of those natives of) the distant past whose (forms) had beer, distorted. (Using translation from Muslim 1949)   

أحمد:١٥٠٦٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ أُتِيَ بِضَبٍّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَهُ وَقَالَ لَا أَدْرِي لَعَلَّهُ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ الْأُولَى الَّتِي مُسِخَتْ

He heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah say: "A man came when the Prophet ﷺ was on the minbar on a Friday. He said to him: 'Have you prayed two rak'ahs?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Pray.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1400)  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَرَكَعْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَارْكَعْ

[Machine] Jaabir ibn Abdullah said, "When the Kaaba was being built, Al-Abbas and the Prophet ﷺ were carrying stones. Al-Abbas said to the Prophet ﷺ , 'Wrap your waistcloth around your neck to protect yourself from the stones.' So the Prophet ﷺ bent down and his eyes glanced towards the sky. Then he stood up and said, 'My waistcloth! My waistcloth!' and he tightened it around his neck."  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ

قَالَسَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ لَمَّا بُنِيَتِ الْكَعْبَةُ كَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَنْقُلَانِ حِجَارَةً فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ اجْعَلْ إِزَارَكَ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِكَ مِنَ الْحِجَارَةِ فَخَرَّ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَطَمَحَتْ عَيْنَاهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَقَامَ فَقَالَ إِزَارِي إِزَارِي فَقَامَ فَشَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ  

ahmad:15069ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Ibn Jurayj > Zaʿam Lī ʿAṭāʾ > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever eats this tree, meaning garlic, should not approach our mosque with its strong smell."  

أحمد:١٥٠٦٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ زَعَمَ لِي عَطَاءٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَنْ أَكَلَ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ قَالَ يُرِيدُ الثُّومَ فَلَا يَغْشَنَا فِي مَسْجِدِنَا

The Prophet ﷺ said: Cutting of hand is not to be inflicted on one who plunders, but he who plunders conspicuously does not belong to us. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4391)   

أحمد:١٥٠٧٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ عَلَى الْمُنْتَهِبِ قَطْعٌ وَمَنْ انْتَهَبَ نُهْبَةً مَشْهُورَةً فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا وَقَالَ لَيْسَ عَلَى الْخَائِنِ قَطْعٌ

[Machine] He heard Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari say, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ while he was on his riding animal, praying the voluntary prayers in every direction, but he would lower the two prostrations of each unit of prayer and make a gesture."  

أحمد:١٥٠٧١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ يُصَلِّي النَّوَافِلَ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ يَخْفِضُ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ وَيُومِئُ إِيمَاءً

[Machine] “We used to make it during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٢حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَذَكَرُوا الْعَزْلَ فَقَالَ

كُنَّا نَصْنَعُهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] Yes, we enjoyed ourselves during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Abu Bakr and Umar, until it was towards the end of Umar's caliphate.  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٣حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ عَطَاءٌ حِينَ قَدِمَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ مُعْتَمِرًا فَجِئْنَاهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَسَأَلَهُ الْقَوْمُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ ثُمَّ ذَكَرُوا لَهُ الْمُتْعَةَ فَقَالَ

نَعَمْ اسْتَمْتَعْنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ فِي آخِرِ خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ

[Machine] It is reported that the Prophet ﷺ was on a journey and the sun disappeared for him suddenly, so he did not pray the Maghrib prayer until he arrived in Makkah.  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ غَابَتْ لَهُ الشَّمْسُ بِسَرِفٍفَلَمْ يُصَلِّ الْمَغْرِبَ حَتَّى أَتَى مَكَّةَ  

ahmad:15075Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah

[Machine] "From Amr ibn Dinar, he heard from Jabir ibn Abdullah that the Prophet ﷺ visited Abdullah ibn Ubayy after he was placed in his grave. He laid him on his knees, covered him with his shirt, and blew from his saliva on him."  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٥حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ

عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ بَعْدَ مَا أُدْخِلَ فِي حُفْرَتِهِ فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ وَأَلْبَسَهُ قَمِيصَهُ وَنَفَثَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ رِيقِهِ

[Machine] I heard with my own ears from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that a group of people will come out of the Fire and enter Paradise.  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعَ عَمْرٌو جَابِرًا يَقُولُ

سَمِعَتْ أُذُنَايَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَوْمٌ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ النَّارِ فَيَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ

My nephew, leave him for he defended Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Muslim 2487a)  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّ أَمِيرًا كَانَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ طَارِقٌ قَضَى بِالْعُمْرَى لِلْوَارِثِ عَنْ قَوْلِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

While swearing fealty to the Prophet ﷺ we did not take the oath to death but that we would not run away (from the battlefield). (Using translation from Muslim 1856b)   

أحمد:١٥٠٧٨حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ

سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ لَمْ نُبَايِعِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ إِنَّمَا بَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرَّ

[Machine] Jabir heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ was asked about the earnings of the cupper (a person who performs cupping therapy). He replied, 'Feed him and give him a reward for his service.'"  

أحمد:١٥٠٧٩حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ

سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ فَقَالَ اعْلِفْهُ نَاضِحَكَ

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ ate bread and meat, then he prayed without performing ablution."  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَكَلَ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ  

ahmad:15081Ḥammād b. Usāmah > Hishām b. ʿUrwah > ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Rāfiʿ > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever revives a dead land, it belongs to him, and whatever is eaten from it by the animals is a charity for him."  

أحمد:١٥٠٨١حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَيْتَةً فَهِيَ لَهُ وَمَا أَكَلَتِ الْعَافِيَةُ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ لَهُ صَدَقَةٌ  

ahmad:15082Yaḥyá b. Zakariyyā > Ḥajjāj > ʿAṭāʾ > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ forbade selling what is in the tops of palm trees for a measure of dates.  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٢حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَعَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يُبَاعَ مَا فِي رُءُوسِ النَّخْلِ بِتَمْرٍ كَيْلًا  

ahmad:15083Yaḥyá b. Zakariyyā > Ḥajjāj > ʿAṭāʾ > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ forbade selling fruits until their ripeness becomes evident, and that they should be sold within two or three years."  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٣حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَعَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ تُبَاعَ الثِّمَارُ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهَا وَأَنْ تُبَاعَ سَنَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا  

ahmad:15084Yaḥyá b. Zakariyyā b. Abū Zāʾidah > Ḥajjāj > ʿAṭāʾ > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ forbade selling what is in the tops of palm trees for a weighed quantity of dates.  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٤حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَعَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يُبَاعَ مَا فِي رُءُوسِ النَّخْلِ بِتَمْرٍ مَكِيلٍ

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Eid, he started praying before the sermon without an Adhan or Iqamah.  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٥حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ بَدَأَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ

أحمد:١٥٠٨٦حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ طَافَ طَوَافًا وَاحِدًا  

ahmad:15087Zayd b. al-Ḥubāb > Ḥusayn b. Wāqid > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my brother has passed away. How should I shroud him?" The Prophet replied, "Shroud him with the best of shrouds."  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٧حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخِي مَاتَ فَكَيْفَ أُكَفِّنُهُ؟ قَالَ أَحْسِنْ كَفَنَهُ  

ahmad:15088Muḥammad b. Bishr > Saʿīd b. Abū ʿArūbah > Qatādah > Sulaymān b. Qays al-Yashkurī > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Whoever constructs a wall on a piece of land, it belongs to him."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ حَاطَ حَائِطًا عَلَى أَرْضٍ فَهِيَ لَهُ

[Machine] "O people, return me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , for my people killed me and deceived me about myself, and they said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not want to kill you. They did not remove me from the man until we finished with him." When we returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we mentioned his words to him. He said, "Did you not leave the man and come to me with him? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ only wanted him to be certain in his affair."  

أحمد:١٥٠٨٩حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قُلْتُ لِجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَنَا أَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ رَجَمَ الرَّجُلَ يَعْنِي مَاعِزًا إِنَّا لَمَّا رَجَمْنَاهُ وَجَدَ مَسَّ الْحِجَارَةِ فَقَالَ

أَيْ قَوْمِ رُدُّونِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِنَّ قَوْمِي هُمْ قَتَلُونِي وَغَرُّونِي مِنْ نَفْسِي وَقَالُوا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ غَيْرُ قَاتِلِكَ قَالُوا فَلَمْ نَنْزَعْ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ حَتَّى فَرَغْنَا مِنْهُ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَجَعْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِاللهِ ﷺ ذَكَرْنَا لَهُ قَوْلَهُ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَرَكْتُمُ الرَّجُلَ وَجِئْتُمُونِي بِهِ إِنَّمَا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَثَبَّتَ فِي أَمْرِهِ  

ahmad:15090Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan al-Wāsiṭī / al-Muzanī > Abū Yūsuf al-Ḥajjāj / Ibn Abū Zaynab al-Ṣayqal > Abū Sufyān > Jābir

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a man while he was praying and had placed his left hand on his right, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it and placed the right hand on the left.  

أحمد:١٥٠٩٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ يَعْنِي الْمُزَنِيَّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُوسُفَ الْحَجَّاجُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي زَيْنَبَ الصَّيْقَلَ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي وَقَدْ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى الْيُمْنَى فَانْتَزَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you are in fertile land, tether your camels and do not exceed the limits. And if you are in barren land, perform istinja (cleaning after using the bathroom) and use the dung for yourselves, for the earth folds at night. And when the wild animals gather around you, initiate the call to prayer and do not pray on the thoroughbred horses or descend upon them, for it is their dwelling place. And do not fulfill your needs on them, for they are cursed."  

أحمد:١٥٠٩١حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا كُنْتُمْ فِي الْخِصْبِ فَأَمْكِنُوا الرَّكْبَ أَسِنَّتَهَا وَلَا تَعْدُوا الْمَنَازِلَ وَإِذَا كُنْتُمْ فِي الْجَدْبِ فَاسْتَنْجُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالدُّلْجَةِ فَإِنَّ الْأَرْضَ تُطْوَى بِاللَّيْلِ فَإِذَا تَغَوَّلَتْ لَكُمُ الْغِيلَانُ فَبَادِرُوا بِالْأَذَانِ وَلَا تُصَلُّوا عَلَى جَوَادِ الطُّرُقِ وَلَا تَنْزِلُوا عَلَيْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مَأْوَى الْحَيَّاتِوَالسِّبَاعِ وَلَا تَقْضُوا عَلَيْهَا الْحَوَائِجَ فَإِنَّهَا الْمَلَاعِنُ  

ahmad:15092Yazīd b. Hārūn > Hammām b. Yaḥyá > al-Qāsim b. ʿAbd al-Wāḥid > ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAqīlʿan Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever marries without permission, or he said: "Whoever marries without the consent of their family, then they are committing adultery."  

أحمد:١٥٠٩٢حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ تَزَوَّجَ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنٍ أَوْ قَالَ نَكَحَ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِ أَهْلِهِ فَهُوَ عَاهِرٌ  

ahmad:15093

“The thing that I most fear for my nation is the action of the people of Lut.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2563)   

أحمد:١٥٠٩٣قَالَ

وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي عَمَلُ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about animals: "There is no harm in two (animals) together, hand in hand, and there is no good in them (i.e. animals) occupied by women."  

أحمد:١٥٠٩٤حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْحَيَوَانِ اثْنَانِ بِوَاحِدٍ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ يَدًا بِيَدٍ وَلَا خَيْرَ فِيهِ نَسَاءٌ  

ahmad:15095Yazīd > al-Ḥajjāj b. Arṭāh > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever has a piece of land between him and his brother, and he wants to sell it, then he should offer it to his brother first, for he has more right to it at the price."  

أحمد:١٥٠٩٥حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ أَخِيهِ مُزَارَعَةٌ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَبِيعَهَا فَلْيَعْرِضْهَا عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا بِالثَّمَنِ

[Machine] We used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Maghrib prayer, then we would visit the tribe of Salimah while we could see the locations of the nobility.  

أحمد:١٥٠٩٦حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَأْتِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَنَحْنُ نُبْصِرُ مَوَاقِعَ النَّبْلِ  

ahmad:15097Abū Qaṭan And Kathīr b. Hishām > Hishām > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

That the Messenger of Allah was treated by means of cupping when he was in Ihram on the top of the foot for contusion that he had suffered. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2849)   

أحمد:١٥٠٩٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ وَكَثِيرُ بنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَمَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ مِنْ وَثْءٍ كَانَ بِوَرِكِهِ أَوْ ظَهْرِهِ  

ahmad:15098Abū Qaṭan > Hishām > Abū al-Zubayriʿan Jābir

There was an eclipse of the sun in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a hot day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺled his Companions in prayer and prolonged the standing until the people began to fall down. He then bowed and prolonged it; then he raised his head and prolonged (the stay); then he bowed and prolonged it; then he raised his head and prolonged (the stay); then he made two prostrations and then stood up; then he did in the same manner. He thus performed four bowings and four prostrations. Then the narrator narrated the rest of the tradition. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1179)  

أحمد:١٥٠٩٨حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

خَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمٍ شَدِيدِ الْحَرِّ فَصَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ فَأَطَالَ الْقَيَّامَ حَتَّى جَعَلُوا يَخِرُّونَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَنَعَ نَحْوًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَكَانَتْ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ  

ahmad:15099ʿAbdah b. Sulaymān > ʿĀṣim / al-Aḥwal > ʿĀmir > Jābir

"The Messenger of Allah forbade taking a woman as a co-wife to her paternal aunt or her maternal aunt." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3293)   

أحمد:١٥٠٩٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ يَعْنِي الْأَحْوَلَ عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ تُزَوَّجَ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا أَوْ عَلَى خَالَتِهَا

[Machine] He heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "The Prophet ﷺ performed Ruqyah for the camel of the Banu Amr at a low price."  

أحمد:١٥١٠٠حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ أَرْخَصَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي رُقْيَةِ الْحُمَةِ لِبَنِي عَمْرٍو  

ahmad:15101ʿAbdah b. Sulaymān > ʿAbd al-Malik > ʿAṭāʾ > Jābir

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in praying on 'Eid before the Khutbah, with no Adhan and no Iqamah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1562)   

أحمد:١٥١٠١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ بَدَأَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ

[Machine] He heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "A scorpion bit one of us while we were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ . A man asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, shall I perform ruqyah (incantation) on him?' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, then let him do so.'"  

أحمد:١٥١٠٢حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ لَدَغَتْ رَجُلًا مِنَّا عَقْرَبٌ وَنَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرْقِيهِ؟ فَقَالَ مَنْ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَنْفَعْهُ  

ahmad:15103Rawḥ b. ʿUbādah > Ibn Jurayj > Abū al-Zubayr > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

There is no transitive disease, no safar, no ghoul. He (the narrator) said: I heard Abu Zubair say: Jabir explained for them the word safar. Abu Zubair said: safar means belly. It was said to Jabir: Why is it so? He said that it was held that safar implied the worms of the belly, but he gave no explanation of ghoul. Abu Zubair said: Ghoul is that which kills the travellers. أحمد:١٥١٠٣حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا صَفَرَ وَلَا غُولَ وسَمِعْتُ أَبَا الزُّبَيْرِ يَذْكُرُ أَنَّ جَابِرًا فَسَّرَ لَهُمْ قَوْلَهُ لَا صَفَرَ فَقَالَ أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ الصَّفَرُ الْبَطْنُ قِيلَ لِجَابِرٍ كَيْفَ؟ فَقَالَ كَانَ يُقَالُ دَوَابُّ الْبَطْنِ قَالَ وَلَمْ يُفَسِّرِ الْغُولَ قَالَ أَبُوالزُّبَيْرِ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ هَذَا الْغُولُ الَّتِي تَغُولُ الشَّيْطَانَةُ الَّتِي يَقُولُونَ

“The food of one person is sufficient for two, the food of two is sufficient for four, and the food for four is sufficient for eight.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3254)  

أحمد:١٥١٠٤حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ طَعَامُ الْوَاحِدِ يَكْفِي الِاثْنَيْنِ وَطَعَامُ الِاثْنَيْنِ يَكْفِي الْأَرْبَعَةَ وَطَعَامُ الْأَرْبَعَةِ يَكْفِي الثَّمَانِيَةَ  

ahmad:15105Rawḥ > Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim > Yaḥyá b. Abū Kathīr > a man > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] A young man came to the Prophet ﷺ seeking permission to engage in fasting. The Prophet ﷺ advised him to fast and seek Allah's blessings and favors.  

أحمد:١٥١٠٥حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا شَابًّا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي الْخِصَاءِ فَقَالَ صُمْ وَسَلِ اللهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ

Wa 'Alaikum, A'isha was enraged and asked him (Allah's Apostle) whether he had not heard what they had said. He said, I did hear and I retorted to them (and the curse that I invoked upon them would receive response from Allah), but (the curse that they invoked upon us) would not be responded. (Using translation from Muslim 2166)  

أحمد:١٥١٠٦حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ سَلَّمَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ فَقَالَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَغَضِبَتْ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالُوا قَالَ بَلَى قال بَلَى قَدْ سَمِعْتُ فَرَدَدْتُهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّا نُجَابُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يُجَابُونَ عَلَيْنَا

Messenger of Allah. why is it that you put it of immediately. whereupon he said: Gabriel forbade me from it (i. e. wearing of Ods garment), and 'Umar came to him weeping and said: Messenger of Allah you disapproved a thing but you gave it to me. What about me, then? Thereupon be (the Holy Prophet) Wd: I did not give it to you to wear it, but I gave you that you might sell it; and so he (Hadrat Umar) sold it for two thousand dirhams. (Using translation from Muslim 2070)

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ لَبِسَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَومًا قَبَاءً مِنْ دِيبَاجٍ أُهْدِيَ لَهُ ثُمَّ أَوْشَكَ أَنْ يَنْزِعَهُ وَأَرْسَلَ بِهِ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَقِيلَ قَدْ أَوْشَكْتَ مَا نَزَعْتَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ نَهَانِي عَنْهُ جِبْرِيلُ ﷺ فَجَاءَهُ عُمَرُ يَبْكِي فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَرِهْتَ أَمْرًا وَأَعْطَيْتَنِيهِ فَمَا لِي فَقَالَ لَمْ أُعْطِكَهُ لِتَلْبَسَهُ إِنَّمَا أَعْطَيْتُكَهُ تَبِيعُهُ فَبَاعَهُ بِأَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ

When a man enters his house and mention Allah’s name on entering and on his food, the devil says: You have no place to spend the night and no evening meal; but when he enters without mentioning Allah’s name on entering, the devil says: You have found a place to spend the night, and when he does not mention Allah’s name at his food, he says: You have found a place to spend the night and an evening meal. أحمد:١٥١٠٨حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْتَهُ فَذَكَرَ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ وَعِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ مَا مِنْ مَبِيتٍ وَلَا عَشَاءٍ هَاهُنَا وَإِذَا دَخَلَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ أَدْرَكْتُمُ الْمَبِيتَ وَالْعَشَاءَ

The Prophet ﷺ ordered Umar ibn al-Khattab who was in al-Batha' at the time of the conquest (of Makkah) to visit the Ka'bah and obliterate all images in it. The Prophet ﷺ did not enter it until all the images were obliterated. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4156)   

أحمد:١٥١٠٩حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَيَمْحُوَ كُلَّ صُورَةٍ فِيهَا وَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْبَيْتَ حَتَّى مُحِيَتْ كُلُّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ

[Machine] He heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I saw in a dream that my head was cut off, and it was being stitched back together while I was watching.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'That is from Satan. When any one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, he should not narrate it to anyone, and let him seek refuge in Allah from Satan.'"  

أحمد:١٥١١٠حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنَّ رَأْسِي قُطِعَ فَهُوَ يَتَجَحْدَلُ وَأَنَا أَتْبَعُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ رُؤْيَا يَكْرَهُهَا فَلَا يَقُصَّهَا عَلَى أَحَدٍ وَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ
