[Machine] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, "Indeed, one of the signs of the Hour is that a man will greet another man whom he does not know, except for the sake of familiarity."

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ greeting with his right hand, saying, 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah,' until the whiteness on his right cheek became visible. And he would do the same with his left hand."

ahmad:3850Hāshim And Ḥasan b. Mūsá > Shaybān > ʿĀṣim > Abū Wāʾil > ʿAbdullāh

My Lord, they are my friends, they are my friends, and it would be said: You don't know what innovations they made after you. (Using translation from Muslim 2297a)

ahmad:3851Aswad b. ʿĀmir > Sharīk > Abū Isḥāq > Ṣilah > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] "That Musaylimah's messenger came to the Prophet ﷺ and said to him, 'Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?' The Prophet ﷺ responded with something and then said to him, 'If it were not that I do not kill messengers, or if I had killed any messenger, I would have killed you.'"

ahmad:3852Abū Aḥmad > Sufyān > Abū Isḥāq > Abū al-Aḥwaṣ > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was brought a man who was called "Al-Kay". He said, "Shave him completely, or trim his hair short."

ahmad:3853Abū Aḥmad > Sufyān > Abū Isḥāq > al-Aswad > ʿAbdullāh

The Prophet ﷺ used to recite: "Fahal-min-Maddakir (then is there any that will receive admonition?") (Using translation from Bukhārī 4870)

ahmad:3854al-Ḥasan b. Yaḥyá from Ahl Marw > al-Faḍl b. Mūsá > Sufyān al-Thawrī > Simāk > Ibrāhīm > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Yazīd > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have been affected by a woman in everything except that I have not had intercourse with her." He ﷺ said: "Then perform the prayers at the beginning and end of the day, as good deeds erase bad deeds." (Surah Hud 11:114)

ahmad:3855ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Sufyān > ʿĀṣim > Abū Wāʾil > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said to a man, "If it were not for the fact that you are a messenger, I would have killed you."

ahmad:3856Umayyah b. Khālid > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq > Abū ʿUbaydah > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed Allah has killed Abu Jahl." He replied, "Praise be to Allah who granted victory to His servant and honored His religion." He also once said, meaning Umayyah, "Verily, his servant spoke the truth and honored His religion."

ahmad:3857Abū al-Naḍr > Abū Muʿāwiyah / Shaybān > Abū al-Yaʿfūr > Abū al-Ṣalt

[Machine] So we heard his voice saying "Allah speaks the truth and His Messenger has delivered the message." We said, "We hear you saying that Allah speaks the truth and His Messenger has delivered the message." He replied, "Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that the Night of Qadr is in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and the sun rises on that day without rays." So I looked at the sun and found it exactly as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said.

ahmad:3858ʿAffān > Abū ʿAwānah > Abū Yaʿfūr > Abū al-Ṣalt > Abū ʿAqrab al-Asadī

[Machine] I visited Abdullah bin Mas'ud and discussed it with him.

ahmad:3859Abū al-Naḍr > Abū ʿAqīl > Mujālid > al-Shaʿbī > Masrūq

[Machine] We were sitting with Abdullah in the mosque and he was reciting to us when a man came to him and said, "O son of Mas'ud, did your Prophet inform you how many caliphs there will be after him?" He replied, "Yes, they will be like the number of leaders of the Children of Israel."

ahmad:3860Abū al-Naḍr And Ḥasan > Shaybān > ʿĀṣim > Zirr > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] "While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during one of his journeys, we heard a caller calling, 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.' The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, 'By instinct, I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.' The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said (afterwards), 'He came out of the Fire.' Then we pursued him and found him to be a man with a walking stick. Prayer caught up with him, and he called out the adhan."

ahmad:3862Zayd b. Ḥubāb > Ḥusayn > ʿĀṣim b. Bahdalah > Shaqīq b. Salamah > Ibn Masʿūd

[Machine] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, "I saw Gabriel on the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, and he had six hundred wings. I asked Aasim about the wings, but he refused to inform me. Some of his companions told me that the wings span from the east to the west."

[Machine] He said that Muhammad had only seen Gabriel in his true form twice. The first time, he asked Gabriel to show him his true form and Muhammad saw his form, which caused the horizon to distort. The second time, Gabriel ascended with him and his words were "And he was on the highest horizon. Then he approached and descended, and was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. And he revealed to His servant what He revealed" [Surah An-Najm: 10-12]. He said that when Gabriel felt that his Lord was present, he returned in his true form and prostrated. His words were "And he certainly saw him in another descent at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - near it is the Garden of Refuge - when there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord" [Surah An-Najm: 13-18]. He said that Gabriel was created by Allah, peace be upon him.

ahmad:3865Aswad b. ʿĀmir > Abū Bakr > ʿĀṣim > Abū Wāʾil > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever associates partners with Allah, Allah will put him in Hellfire." He said, "And I say another statement that I did not hear from him, 'Whoever dies without associating partners with Allah, Allah will enter him into Paradise.' And indeed, these prayers are an expiation for whatever sins were committed between them, as long as major sins are avoided."

[Machine] We were sitting with Abdullah when a man came and said, "The prayer has been established." So he stood up and we stood up with him. When we entered the mosque, we saw the people in the front of the mosque bowing down. He said the takbir (saying 'Allahu Akbar') and bowed down, and we also bowed down. Then we walked and did the same as he did. A man passed by quickly and said, "Peace be upon you, O Abu Abdur Rahman." He replied, "May Allah and His Messenger speak the truth." After we finished praying and returned, he went to his family and we sat down. Some of us said to others, "Did you hear his answer to the man? He testified that Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. Which one of you will ask him?" Tariq said, "I will ask him." So he asked him when he came out, and he mentioned from the Prophet ﷺ that before the Hour comes, there will be private greetings, widespread trade, in which a woman will help her husband in trade, the severing of the ties of kinship, false testimony, withholding true testimony, and the appearance of the pen.

[Machine] I was covered with the coverings of the Kaaba, when three confident men, two Quraishites, who were very fat with little understanding in their hearts, came and talked amongst themselves. One of them said, "Do you think that Allah, the Almighty, hears what we say?" The other replied, "I see that He hears when we speak out loud, but He does not hear when we lower our voices." The third said, "If He hears anything from us, then He hears everything." I mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Allah, the Almighty, revealed the verse, "And you were not covering yourselves lest your hearing testify against you" (Quran 41:22) until "the losers" (Quran 41:23).

[Machine] So the girl was sent to bring him a drink from the neighbors, but she was slow, so he cursed her. Abdullah came out and Abu Umair came and said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, no one is like you in jealousy. Why didn't you greet the people of your brother and sit down and have some of the drink?" He said, "I did that." So the servant was sent, but she was slow, either because they didn't have it or because they were reluctant to give what they had. So the servant was slow, so he cursed her. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Verily, when the curse is directed towards someone, and it finds a way to reach him or a path in him, it will be effective. Otherwise, it will say, 'O Lord, I was directed at so and so, but I did not find a way to reach him and I did not find a path in him.' Then it will be said to her, 'Go back from where you came.' So I feared that the servant was excused, and the curse would return, and I would be its cause."
