ahmad:3896ʿAffān > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq > Abū al-Aḥwaṣ

[Machine] Abdullah used to say, "Indeed, lying is not appropriate for seriousness nor for jest." And Afan once said, "A man should not promise as a child and then not fulfill it." He also said, "Indeed, Muhammad told us that a man continues to be truthful until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful person, and he continues to lie until he is recorded with Allah as a liar."  

أحمد:٣٨٩٦حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ قَالَ

كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْكَذِبَ لَا يَصْلُحُ مِنْهُ جِدٌّ وَلَا هَزْلٌوَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً جِدٌّ وَلَا يَعِدُ الرَّجُلُ صَبِيًّا ثُمَّ لَا يُنْجِزُ لَهُ قَالَ وَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا قَالَ لَنَا لَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صِدِّيقًا وَلَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا
