ahmad:3800Wakīʿ > Sufyān from his father > Abū al-Ḍuḥá > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, every prophet has successors from among the prophets, and my successors are my father and my Lord's friend, Ibrahim." Then he recited the verse: "Indeed, the most worthy of Ibrahim among the people..." [Al-Imran: 68] until the end of the verse.

ahmad:3801ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿAmr And Muʾammal > Sufyān > Simāk > ʿAbd al-Raḥman > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] "I approached the Prophet ﷺ and he was in a red dome. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Adam was present with about forty men. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, you are open to attack and adversity. Whoever among you experiences that, let them fear Allah, enjoin what is good, forbid what is evil, and maintain their family ties. Whoever lies to me intentionally, let them take their place in the Fire. The example of one who helps his people in falsehood is like that of a camel tied to a well, it keeps pulling out its own hair.'"

ahmad:3802ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Sufyān > Manṣūr > Sālim b. Abū al-Jaʿd > Abiyih > Ibn Masʿūd

There is none amongst you with whom is not an attache from amongst the jinn (devil). They (the Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, with you too? Thereupon he said: Yes, but Allah helps me against him and so I am safe from his hand and he does not command me but for good. (Using translation from Muslim 2814a)

ahmad:3803ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Hammām > ʿĀṣim > Abū Wāʾil > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] I heard a man reciting Surah Al-Thalaathin (Surah Al-Ahqaf), so he recited a letter, and then another man recited a letter that his companion did not recite. I also recited some letters that my companions did not recite. So we went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said, "Do not differ, for indeed those before you were destroyed due to their differences." Then he said, "Look for your best reciter and follow his recitation."

ahmad:3804Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Yazīd b. Abū Ziyād > Abū Saʿd > Abū al-Kanūd

[Machine] I obtained a gold ring from some shops, so I wore it. Then, I went to Abdullah and he took it and placed it between his beard. He chewed it and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade wearing a ring or a necklace made of gold."

ahmad:3805Yazīd > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq > al-Aswad > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prostrated in front of the star, and no one from the people remained except a sheikh. The sheikh took a handful of gravel and raised it to his forehead, saying, "This is sufficient for me." Abdullah said, "Indeed, I saw him being killed as a disbeliever."

ahmad:3806ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Qatādah > al-Ḥasan > ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn > Ibn Masʿūd

[Machine] Most of us were talking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, and then we went to him the next morning. He said, "The prophets were presented to me last night with their nations. The Prophet ﷺ walked by with a group of people, then the Prophet ﷺ walked by with a smaller group, and then the Prophet ﷺ walked by alone, and there was no one with him until Musa walked by with a group from the children of Israel. They amazed me so I asked, 'Who are these?'" I was told, "These are your nation, O Messenger of Allah, and these are the children of Israel." I said, "Where is my nation?" I was told, "Look to your right." So I looked and the horizon was filled with the faces of men. Then I was told, "Look to your left." So I looked and the horizon was filled with the faces of men. Then I was asked, "Are you pleased?" I said, "I am pleased, O Lord, I am pleased, O Lord." It was said to me, "Among these are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without being brought to account." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I wish that you, O Abu Umaamah and your mother, may be among them. If you can, be one of the seventy thousand. If you cannot, then be one of the people of the horizon. And if you cannot, then be one of the people of the outskirts." I have seen people who argue with one another, then 'Ukkashah bin Mihsan stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to make me one of the seventy thousand." So he prayed for him. Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to make me one of them." He said, "Ukkashah has beaten you to it." Then we asked, "Who are these seventy thousand people?" He said, "They are those who neither seek rukiyah (charms) nor do they believe in bad omens and they put their trust in their Lord."

ahmad:3818Sulaymān b. Dāwud > ʿImrān > Qatādah > ʿAbd Rabbih > Abū ʿIyāḍ > ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Beware of the trivialization of sins, for they gather upon a person until they destroy him.”

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave an example regarding them, saying “It is like a man who was traveling in a barren land when he visited a workman of a people. So the man started to bring a piece of firewood, and the other man brought a piece of firewood, until they had gathered a large quantity and ignited a fire, that burned up everything thrown in.”

Ukashah said, "O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to include me among them." So the Messenger of Allahﷺ supplicated for him. Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to include me among them." He replied, "Ukashah has preceded you to it."

A man from the people said, "I threw them down." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to put them back.

[Machine] I went out to water a horse for myself in the desert. I passed by the mosque of Bani Hanifa, and they were saying that Musaylimah is the Messenger of Allah. So, I went to Abdullah and informed him. He sent the police, and they brought them. He asked them to repent, and they repented, so he let them go. Abdullah Ibn Nawwahta was executed. They said, "You took a people in one matter; you killed some of them and left some of them?" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when this person and Ibn Uthala Bin Hajar came before him, and he asked them, 'Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?' They said, 'We testify that Musaylimah is the Messenger of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'I believe in Allah and His messengers. If I were a killer in a delegation, I would have killed you both. Hence, I killed him.'"

ahmad:3845Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿĀbis > a man from Hamdān from the companions of ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] When Abdullah wanted to come to the city, he gathered his companions and said, "By Allah, I hope that today I am among you with the best of what the Muslim armies have in terms of religion, understanding, and knowledge of the Quran. Indeed, this Quran was revealed with its fine details. By Allah, if two men were to dispute, it would be over nothing as severe as when a reciter says, 'This is how I recite it,' and the other says, 'No, both of you recite well.' Verily, truth guides to righteousness, and righteousness guides to paradise, while lying guides to disobedience, and disobedience guides to the Hellfire. Consider this by the words of one of you to his companion, 'You lied and sinned,' and by his saying, 'If you tell the truth, I believe you and exonerate you.' Indeed, this Quran does not differ or contradict, nor does it become insignificant due to the multitude of responses. So whoever recites it with precision, let him not abandon it out of desire. And whoever recites it with any of the letters that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught, let him not abandon it out of desire. For surely, whoever denies one of its ayahs, he denies all that it contains. It is like the saying of one of you to his companion, 'Hurry up and guide me.' By Allah, if I knew a man who had knowledge of what Allah revealed to Muhammad ﷺ more than me, I would seek his company until his knowledge increased to the level of my own. Indeed, there will be people who neglect prayers, so perform your prayers at their specified times and make your voluntary prayers along with them. And verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite the Quran in every Ramadan. And I presented the matter twice in the year he passed away, and he informed me that I was reciting it well. I have recited seventy chapters from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
