I heard the Prophet ﷺ, "Souls are like recruited troops: Those who are like qualities are inclined to each other, but those who have dissimilar qualities, differ."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ الأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ وَقَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ بِهَذَا

Souls are troops collected together and those who familiarised with each other (in the heaven from where these come) would have affinity, with one another (in the world) and those amongst them who opposed each other (in the Heaven) would also be divergent (in the world).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ

People are like mines of gold and silver; those who were excellent in Jahiliya (during the days of ignorance) are excellent In Islam, when they have, an understanding, and the souls are troops collected together and those who had a mutual familiarity amongst themselves in the store of prenatal existence would have affinity amongst them, (in this world also) and those who opposed one of them, would be at variance with one another.

النَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ كَمَعَادِنِ الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا وَالأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ

'A'isha said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The arwah are a massed army. When they already know each other, they are friendly. When they do not know each other, they disagree.'"

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The spirits are massed armies. Those of them that knew one another are friendly. Those that did not know one another disagree."

"إِنَّ الأرواح في الهَوى جُنُود مُجنَدَة تَلتَقِى فَتَشامُ، فَما تَعَارَفَ مِنْها ائْتَلَفَ، وَمَا تَنَاكَر مِنْها اخْتَلَفَ".

"النَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ كَمَعادنِ الذَّهَب والفضَّةِ، خِيَارهُمْ فِي الجَاهِليَّةِ خِيارُهُمْ فِي الإِسْلام إِذَا فَقُهُوا، والأرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجنَّدَةٌ، فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَف، وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَف".

"الأرواحُ جنودٌ مجنَّدةٌ لما تعارَف منها ائْتَلَفَ، وما تَنَاكَرَ منهَا اختَلف" .

"الأرواحُ جنودٌ مجنَّدةٌ تَلتَقِى فَتَتَشَامُّ فَمَا تَعَارَف مِنهَا ائْتَلَفَ وما تَنَاكَرَ منها اختَلَفَ" .

"عَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ: الأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ تَلْتَقِى، فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ".

"عَنْ أَبى الطُّفَيْلِ، عَنْ عليٍّ قَالَ: الأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ منْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ ".
