[Machine] "On the authority of Abu Rafi' the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'And the people around him, I do not know of any of you to whom a matter comes from my matter while he is reclining on his couch, and he says, 'We did not find anything in the Book of Allah, so we acted upon it.'"  

الطبراني:٩٧٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ

عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالنَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ لَا أَعْرِفَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَأْتِيهِ الْأَمْرُ مِنْ أَمْرِي وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ يَقُولُ مَا وَجَدْنَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ عَمِلْنَا بِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: Let me not find one of you reclining on his couch when he hears something regarding me which I have commanded or forbidden and saying: We do not know. What we found in Allah's Book we have followed. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4605)  

أحمد:٢٣٨٧٦ – حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا أُلْفَيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مُتَّكِئًا عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ يَأتِيهِ الْأَمْرُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مِمَّا أَمَرْتُ بِهِ وَنَهَيْتُ عَنْهُ فَيَقُولُ لَا نَدْرِي وَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ اتَّبَعْنَاهُ  

hakim:370 – al-Layth b. Saʿd > Abū al-Naḍr > Mūsá b. ʿAbdullāh b. Qays > Abū Rāfiʿ

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "And the people around him do not know if any of you receives a matter from my affairs that I have commanded or prohibited, and he is reclining on his couch and says, 'We did not find anything in the Book of Allah that we acted upon, and if it was otherwise, then no.'"  

الحاكم:٣٧٠ – قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَالنَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ لَا أَعْرِفَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَأْتِيهِ أَمْرٌ مِنْ أَمْرِي قَدْ أَمَرْتُ بِهِ أَوْ نَهَيْتُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ فَيَقُولُ مَا وَجَدْنَا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَمِلْنَا بِهِ وَإِلَّا فَلَا  

قَالَ الْحَاكِمُ «أَنَا عَلَى أَصْلِي الَّذِي أَصَّلْتُهُ فِي خِطْبَةِ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ أَنَّ الزِّيَادَةَ مِنَ الثِّقَةِ مَقْبُولَةٌ وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَافِظٌ ثِقَةٌ ثَبَتٌ وَقَدْ خَبَّرَ وَحَفِظَ وَاعْتَمَدْنَا عَلَى حِفْظِهِ بَعْدَ أَنْ وَجَدْنَا لِلْحَدِيثِ شَاهِدَيْنِ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ صَحِيحَيْنِ أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا» سفيان حافظ ثبت فاعتمدناه
