during the campaign of Tabuk, the Prophet of Allah called for water from a woman. She said: "I only have a waterskin of mine made from an (unslaughtered) dead animal." He said: "Didn't you tan it?" She said: "Of course." He said: "Then it's tanning is its slaughter". (Daif) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4243)   

الطبراني:٦٣٤٢ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a carcass near Hunayn and called for water from it. There was a woman near it who said, "Indeed, it is dead." He said, "Ask her, has it been slaughtered?" She said, "Yes." So he took some of it for his need and said, "Its tanning makes it pure."
