The Prophet ﷺ was asked about cleansing (after relieving oneself). He said: (One should cleanse oneself) with three stones which should be free from dung. Abu Dawud said: A similar tradition has been narrated by Abu Usamah and Ibn Numair from Hisham.

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ الاِسْتِطَابَةِ فَقَالَ بِثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'For cleaning yourself you need three stones, no one of them being dung.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الاِسْتِنْجَاءِ ثَلاَثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are three types of stones that cannot be returned," meaning for tayammum (dry ablution) purposes.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهنَّ رَجِيعٌ» يَعْنِي للِاسْتِطَابَةَ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned al-Istitaba and said, "There are three stones in which there is no return."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ذَكَرَ الِاسْتِطَابَةَ فَقَالَ ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'For cleaning yourself you need three stones, no one of them being dung.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 315)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الِاسْتِنْجَاءِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ was asked about the 'istiṭābah' (a type of stone). He said, "There are three types of stones in which there is no returning (reversion)."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ فَقَالَ ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about cleaning after excretion. He replied, "Are any of you unable to find three stones?"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ الاِسْتِطَابَةِ فَقَالَ أَوَلاَ يَجِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ ثَلاَثَةَ أَحْجَارٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about istitaba (a form of seeking blessings from stones or objects). He said, "Three kinds of stones can be used for istitaba, and none of them have any harm."

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ؟ فَقَالَ «ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ وَلَيْسَ فِيهِنَّ رَجِيعٌ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'For cleaning yourself you need three stones, no one of them being dung.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 315)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فِي الِاسْتِطَابَةِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِنَّ رَجِيعٌ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'For cleaning yourself you need three stones, no one of them being dung.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 315)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الِاسْتِطَابَةُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِنَّ رَجِيعٌ»

[AI] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: "Whoever cleanses himself with three stones that contain no impurities, it will be purification for him."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اسْتَطَابَ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِنَّ رَجِيعٌ كُنَّ لَهُ طَهُورًا»

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ was asked about istitaba (cleaning oneself after using the bathroom), and he said, 'Doesn't any one of you find three stones, one for wiping the private parts and two for cleaning after urination?'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ فَقَالَ «أَوَلَا يَجِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَحْجَارٍ حَجَرَانِ لَلصَّفْحَتَيْنِ وَحَجَرٌ للمَسْرُبَةِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about Istihāba (the state when a discharge of semen occurs without desire) and he said: "It is with three stones that do not have any trace of impurity." Abu Dawood said: "This is how it was narrated."

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ فَقَالَ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ قَالَ أَبُو دَاودَ كَذَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was asked about istitaba (the act of wiping over shoes) so he said: "Doesn't anyone among you find three stones, two for cleaning the private parts and one for the anus? This is what was mentioned in his book."

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ فَقَالَ أَوَ لَا يَجِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَحْجَارٍ حَجَرَيْنِ لِلصَّفْحَتَيْنِ وَحَجَرَا لِلْمَسْرَبَةِ كَذَا كَانَ فِي كِتَابِهِ

"أوَلَا يجد أحَدُكُم ثَلَاثَةَ أحجار: حجرين للصَّفْحَتَين وَحَجَر للمَسْربَة".

"أَلَا لا يَكْفِى أحَدَكمْ ثَلاثَةُ أحْجَارٍ حجران للصفحة وحجرٌ لِلمَسْرُبَةِ" .

"الاستطابةُ بثلاثةِ أحجار، ليس فِيهَا رجيعٌ".

"الاستنجاءُ بثلاثة أَحجار ليس فيهنَّ رجيعٌ" .

"بِثَلاثَةِ أحْجَارٍ، لَيسَ فِيهَا رَجيعٌ".

"ثَلَاثَةٌ أَحْجارٍ عندَ الْخلَاءِ ليس في شئٍ مِنهَا رَجيعٌ يَستْطِيبُ بِها".

"مَنِ اسْتَطَاب بثَلاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ -لَيس فِيهنَّ رجيعٌ- كُنَّ لَهُ طَهُورًا".

"عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ : فِى الاسْتِطَابَةِ ثلاثةُ أَحْجَارٍ وَلَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ".
