[Machine] "We used to wipe (clean) during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . We said: "Did he (the Prophet) accept (convert) before the coming down of the table (from the heaven) or after the coming down of the table?" He (the narrator) said: "He (the Prophet) accepted (converted) after the coming down of the table."  

الطبراني:٢٢٨٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَزَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ قَزَعَةَ ثنا بُهْلُولُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ جَرِيرًا عَنِ §الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقَالَ

«كُنَّا نَمْسَحُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ» قُلْنَا أَقَبْلَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ أَوْ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَسْلَمْتُ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ

Jarir urinated. He then performed ablution and wiped over the socks. He said: What can prevent me from wiping (over the socks); I saw the Messenger of Allah (doing so). They (the people) said: This (action of yours) might be valid before the revelation of Surat al-Ma’idah. He replied: I embraced Islam after the revelation of Surat al-Ma’idah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 154)  

الحاكم:٦٠٤ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَسَّانَ الْقَزَّازُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ أَنْبَأَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ نَصْرٍ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الدِّرْهَمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ

أَنَّ جَرِيرًا «بَالَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ» وَقَالَ مَا يَمْنَعُنِي أَنْ أَمْسَحَ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ قَبْلَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ قَالَ مَا أَسْلَمْتُ إِلَّا بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ الْمُحْتَاجِ إِلَيْهِ» إِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا عَلَى حَدِيثِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ وَفِيهِ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ كَانَ يُعْجِبُهُمْ حَدِيثُ جَرِيرٍ لِأَنَّهُ أَسْلَمَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ وَبُكَيْرُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ كُوفِيٌّ ثِقَةٌ عَزِيزُ الْحَدِيثِ يُجْمَعُ حَدِيثُهُ فِي ثِقَاتِ الْكُوفِيِّينَصحيح وبكير ثقة

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ wiping over his socks, and after the meal was served, Jarir said, "I only embraced Islam after the meal was served."
